It's movie time on TB2K again. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.
If you watch or download a movie, please comment or like it to guide future selections.
Click the "movies" tag at top to see a list of previous movie threads.

It looks like movie posters are easy again. Click to enlarge.
The movie trailers are located in post #8.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is Mad Max. This 1979 adventure film stars Mel Gibson, Joanne Samual, and Hugh Keays-Byrne.
Ignore any of the asian writing in the listing. This is in English with no subtitles.

Taking place in a dystopian Australia in the near future, Mad Max tells the story of a highway patrolman cruising the squalid back roads that have become the breeding ground of criminals foraging for gasoline and scraps. After some grisly events at the hands of a motorcycle gang, Max sets out across the barren wastelands in search of revenge.

The third movie is The Breakfast Club. This 1985 John Hughes dramatic comedy stars Emillio Estavez, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy.

- Five high school students meet in Saturday detention and discover how they have a lot more in common than they thought.

They were five students with nothing in common, faced with spending a Saturday detention together in their high school library. At 7 a.m., they had nothing to say, but by 4 p.m., they had bared their souls to each other and become good friends. To the outside world they were simply a Brain, an Athlete, a Basket Case, a Princess, and a Criminal, but to each other, they would always be the Breakfast Club.

The sixth movie is Avengers Infinity War. This 2018 marvel comics film has many characters including The Hulk, Ironman, Thor, Gaurdians of the Galaxy team, and several others.
This has foreign subtitles, sorry. They can not be turned off even if you download or stream this movie.

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment, the fate of Earth and existence has never been more uncertain.

What!!!!! No Mad Max Beyond Thunder Dome? Wish they would have made a 4th - waaaay beyond Thunder Dome.

Love all the picks this weekend and thank you 1911 for all of your hard work in finding these classics (can't wait for them to be remade Woke - NOT).

The Mountain

Here since the beginning
_______________
Even though Thunderdome is pretty derivative, and feels a little disjointed, it completes the Mad Max cycle:

Mad Max: The last vestiges of the old society are crumbling, and Max is one of the few still trying to keep order. The nearly unfunded police are little better than the gangs they chase. The trappings of civilization are still visible, though it's obvious that it's all coasting on inertia now: Phone booths still work, Max's beach house, highways mostly safe to drive, hospitals still functioning, but the police headquarters is dilapidated and half-abandoned. Police vehicles are being cannibalized to keep the few "good" ones running e.g. the Night Rider's car at the beginning looks pretty beat up for being a prized V8.

Road Warrior: Society has finished collapsing. All law is gone, and people are just trying to survive. Max is a nomad. The gas compound is all makeshift. Food is scavenged, commerce has completely broken down (the dead truckdriver at the beginning is still "juicy" and so could not have been dead more than a few days).

Thunderdome: The first inklings of a new society are starting to appear. Bartertown is a going concern, albeit as a fiefdom. Technology is being revived by the few who still remember how it works (Master's methane generator). There are the first new primitive legal structures (bust a deal, face the wheel). Later, the kids and the escapees from Bartertown recolonize the ruined city, and the population starts to grow, implying that they have managed to standardize food production.

Always looking for details I may have missed.
Another "thank you" for these movies! Given all the gloom and doom going on in the world these days it's nice to have an hour or two of escapism. Will watch a couple later today-

Three of the movies were at the same location on archive.org. They have been pulled today for an unknown reason.
They were: The Breakfast Club, Get Smart, and Around the World in 80 days.

The other 3 (mad max 1&2, Avengers) are still available.

The 3 movies pulled were the middle ones, not mad max 1 and 2. However, it looks like the middle 3 are back so all are available again. I've never seen that happen before, so enjoy if interested!

Welp (ducks head), I have never seen a single one of these. Sons can't believe that I, of all the people they know, haven't seen any of the Mad Max movies but I kept being told by family and friends it was too harsh for me - and me being me I listened to them ;) I think I have some catching up to do, thank you 1911user, very good choices! :)
