There are 11 movies this week.
I recommend watching or saving these sooner rather than later.

This thread on MAIN has the info about the movies and is the place for discussion about them, as before.
However, all of the movie and download links are located in a separate, members-only, thread in the MEDIA CENTER at this link:

----------->>> Link to the thread containing the actual movie links <<<-----------

This should help protect the source of the movies and keep them available longer.

If you watch or download a movie, please comment or like to guide future selections.
Click the "movies" tag at top to see a list of previous movie threads.

Movie trailers (from youtube) can be found in post #13 of this thread.
Click the "movies" tag at the top of this thread to see a list of all movies posted in the past.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is I am Legend. This 2007 adventure film stars Will Smith. It is the third movie based on the 1954 book I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. The first movie was The Last Man on Earth (1964 with Vincent Price). The second movie was The Omega Man (1974 with Charlton Heston).

Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a scientist who was unable to stop the spread of the terrible virus that was incurable and man-made in this post-apocalyptic action thriller. Immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and perhaps the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague - the Infected - lurk in the shadows - watching Neville's every move - waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered - and quickly running out of time.

The second movie is The Magnificent Seven. This 1960 western stars Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, and James Coburn. This is a very well done remake of a famous Japanese movie The Seven Samurai.

A bandit terrorizes a small Mexican farming village each year. Several of the village elders send three of the farmers into the United States to search for gunmen to defend them. They end up with seven, each of whom comes for a different reason. They must prepare the town to repulse an army of thirty bandits who will arrive wanting food.

The third movie is The Great Escape. This 1963 WW2 historical action film stars Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson, Donald Pleasence and James Coburn.

The Nazis, exasperated at the number of escapes from their prison camps by a relatively small number of Allied prisoners, relocate them to a high-security "escape-proof" camp to sit out the remainder of the war. Undaunted, the prisoners plan one of the most ambitious escape attempts of World War II. Based on a true story.

The fourth movie is The Getaway. This 1972 crime thriller stars Steve McQueen, Ali McGraw, Ben Johnson, Sally Struthers, and Slim Pickens.

- A recently released ex-con and his loyal wife go on the run after a heist goes awry.

Doc McCoy has been granted parole. The catch is that Sheriff Beynon expects a small favor from McCoy for his generosity: robbing another bank! Beynon does not really intend to let McCoy walk away after the heist and neither does co-robber Rudy Butler, but stopping Doc proves a trifle difficult.

The fifth movie is Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. This 1969 western stars Robert Redford, Paul Newman, and Katherine Ross. There wasn't room to list this in the thread title, surprise :)

Butch and Sundance are the two leaders of the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang. Butch is all ideas, Sundance is all action and skill. The west is becoming civilized, and when Butch and Sundance rob a train once too often, a special posse begins trailing them no matter where they run. Over rocks, through towns, across rivers, the group is always just behind them. When they finally escape through sheer luck, Butch has another idea, "Let's go to Bolivia". Based on the exploits of the historical characters.

The sixth movie is Shrek 1. This animated film stars the voices of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, and John Lithgow.

Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek whose precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion of annoying fairy tale characters. They were all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad. Determined to save their home -- not to mention his -- Shrek cuts a deal with Farquaad and sets out to rescue Princess Fiona to be Farquaad's bride. Rescuing the Princess may be small compared to her deep, dark secret.

The nineth movie is Shrek 4. The last one in the Shrek series.

Rumpelstiltskin tricks a mid-life crisis burdened Shrek into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast in a dark alternate timeline where Rumpelstiltskin rules supreme.

The tenth movie is Peppermint. This 2018 crime thriller stars Jennifer Garner.

Five years after her husband and daughter are killed in a senseless act of violence, a woman comes back from self-imposed exile to seek revenge against those responsible and the system that let them go free.

Same plot as The Three Amigos possibly. I watched three amigos recently and I enjoyed it. I hadn't seen it when it came out.

Is the ratio and fit screen already set on this one 1911? You had given us instructions on the one I already have so curious if I should replace so I don't have to mess with it. Thank you again.

Replace with this one. It's a different file/source and plays with no adjustments needed and can be watched at the source like most movies. The older one you mentioned required video tweeks to make it sort-of watchable. This is also somewhat higher quality.

There are two films that watched once but can never see again: I am Legend and Eight Below.

I’m sure you understand why that is.

I bought a DVD copy of Khartoum with Lawerence Oliver and Charlton Heston, also Richard Johnson and a host of very fine British character actors. I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU GET IT and watch it. The acting is SUPERB. I will add it was one of the last movies to use live action, as in 500 REAL horsemen storming over the desert and the battle scenes have NO Computer :poop: at all, plus the scenes between Heston and Oliver are just ASTOUNDING ACTING of the type that you just can't find anymore because everything since then has DEGRADED into drivel spewed by PC morons.

I also just watched the 6th and final episode of Game of Thrones and I am not sure why it was trashed so badly, User1911. I thought it put all the pieces together quite nicely.

The Magnificent 7 is one of the best Westerns of all time. The line by Eli Wallach, "If God didn't intend the peasants to be fleeced, then why did he make them sheep," is a classic. :kaid:

The art director for Magnificent Seven was Edward Fitzgerald. Telescope Steve and I met at his house in 1987. Yul Brynner was still sending him Christmas cards.

What did he say about making the movie? They drank. They drank a lot.

I've been wanting to see Khartoum for a while now, thanks! But I still prefer Seven Samurai to Magnificent Seven. Get the Criterion collection version, as it's uncut.

First rate movies this week, minister of culture and enlightenment!

If you haven't seen it, look at The Getaway! Hadn't seen it in years, just downloaded and watched it. GREAT acting, tons of action; Steve McQueen performing his OWN driving stunts, a superb movie.

Another is the Great Escape. WOW what a great movie!

I am Legend is another good one-a bit different from the Last man on earth and Omega Man but still worth a watch. Khartoum is nothing short of theater gold. GREAT acting, as Doomer Doug mentioned live action battle sequences with nary a CGI character in the entire movie. Unreal good!

Went ahead and did the Shrek movies too. That donkey is a smart ass-literally! Not a big fan of cartoons but it's a cute series of movies.

1911 user, two requests in the adult (not porn!) cartoon movie category. Yellow submarine by the Beatles and When the Wind Blows. When the wind blows is sort of a cartoon version of Threads-chilling and music by David Bowie and other rock greats in the 80's.
