This has been a crazy week with BLM trying to make history go away.
In honor of that desecration, this week is dedicated to movies they would like to make go away.
This is mostly of MudLogger's idea, I just helped a bit. :)

It's movie time on TB2K again. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.
If you watch or download a movie, please comment or like it to guide future selections.
The movie mix comes from youtube and archive.org. That will continue for the future.
Click the "movies" tag at top to see a list of previous movie threads.
Click on an individual movie poster to see it full size.
The movie trailers are located in post #8.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is Gone with the Wind. This 1939 classic has been posted before, but it seems to particularly annoy them, so here it is again. This is a very good copy of the movie. You should consider downloading this if possible. The link for the previous posting was blocked and this one will also be blocked at some point. If you want it, I would get it now.

The epic tale of a woman's life during one of the most tumultuous periods in America's history. From her young, innocent days on a southern plantation to the war-torn streets of Atlanta; from her first love whom she has always desired to three husbands; from the utmost luxury to absolute starvation and poverty; from her innocence to her understanding and comprehension of life.

The second movie is Song of the South. This 1946 southern film is another they desperately want to disappear. This is a restored version of the original and it looks good. There are 3 download options depending upon how big and how good you want it to look.

- The kindly story-teller Uncle Remus tells a young boy stories about trickster Br'er Rabbit, who outwits Br'er Fox and slow-witted Br'er Bear.

A beautiful story about the kind and loving relationship that grows between a little boy and the wise and gentle old plantation story teller. Mixed with a good dollop of Disney magical animation, it's a tragedy to be lost because of an unfortunate setting.

The third movie is Sergeant York. This 1941 film stars Gary Cooper, Walter Brennan, and Joan Leslie.

An account of the life and war service of Alvin York, who went from humble beginnings to being one of the most celebrated American servicemen to fight in World War I. As depicted in the film, Alvin turned to religion when he was struck by lightning during one of his drunken outings. Alvin took his newfound religion seriously claiming to be a conscientious objector when receiving his draft notice. When that was refused, he joined the infantry where he served with valor, capturing a large number of Germans and saving the lives of many of his men who were under heavy fire.

The fourth movie is Casablanca. This 1942 classic film stars Humprey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

The story of Rick Blaine, a cynical world-weary expatriate who runs a nightclub in Casablanca, Morocco during the early stages of WWII. Despite the pressure he constantly receives from the local authorities, Rick's cafe has become a kind of haven for refugees seeking to obtain illicit letters that will help them escape to America. But when Ilsa, a former lover of Rick's, and her husband, show up to his cafe one day, Rick faces a tough challenge which will bring up unforeseen complications, heartbreak and ultimately an excruciating decision to make.

The fifth movie is The African Queen. This 1951 adventure film stars Humprey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn.

At the start of World War I, Charlie Allnut is using his old steamer, The African Queen, to ferry supplies to villages in East Africa. When the Rev. Samuel Sayer dies, Charlie agrees to take Sayers' sister, Rose, back to civilization, taking on the Germans at the same time.

The sixth movie is Animal House. This 1978 college comedy stars John Belushi, Karen Allen, and Kevin Bacon.

Delta Tau Chi fraternity at Faber College is the bane of Dean Vernon Wormer's existence. It's members don't attend class, are the source of endless pranks on campus and have broken every rule imaginable. As a group, they have a negligible GPA and their main reason for living is to party. When Wormer finally finds a way to expel them all, the men of Delta Tau Chi decide to give the college a homecoming parade they will never forget.

I was never a big fan of GwtW or Song of South-just not my style of movie. However, I will DL them. Might burn them on CD's and just leave the CD's in random places with a note reminding people that the first Black Female Oscar winner was in the movie so them Banning it is Racist.

Wish you ran a drive in theater! With the weather as nice as it is this evening, it would be a joy sitting out with TB2K family in lawn chairs watching these on the big screen.

Love em all. Remember Animal House especially. Older brother took me and younger bro to the drive in. He got drunk (alcoholic, no surprise) and passed out. I ended up driving us home, about 25 miles. No big deal except it was raining, late at night and I was 14..........

Excellent choices, minister of culture and enlightenment!

Most of the credit for movies this week should go to mudlogger.
She made a list based on the idea these old classics are likely to disappear.

Always looking for details I may have missed.
As others said, you've really outdone yourself here! All classics and favorites of mine. Now to find some hard drive space....
Thanks very much-

Oh ASHleeeee! God I hated that character. Mealy mouth whimp. I liked GWTW in a certain way, but I can’t say it’s a super favorite. It still has good parts to it that I do enjoy.

Well, it took me four times to finally get thru 2001 Space Odysee. Kept falling asleep.

Same with GwtW. Out of Africa-dad and I had movie nights when we roomed together and we'd hit the theater once a week...He wanted to see it and I fell asleep.

I fell asleep (several times!) during 2001 A Space Odyssey as well!

Let's get the reality of Blazing Saddle's out of the way so it does not come up again.

"1911user, what's taking you so long to find that movie I asked for. You know Blazing Saddles......"
Several have asked, repeatedly, to find it so it must be very popular.

It's very popular and heavily protected by the people who own it via copywrite. Just like Andromeda Strain and especially Colossus: The Forbin Project. The people who own it want to sell/rent it for money. They pay people and/or computer companies to constantly monitor and make sure it is not on youtube or anywhere else for free.

What I normally find are the older, less popular movies as well as what the copywrite protectors missed or haven't found yet.
I effectively find movie crumbs. Fortunately, there are many good crumbs, but they are getting harder to find.

I've wasted too many hours trying to find a movie for others that I'll never watch. I'm done with Blazing Saddles.
