It's movie time on TB2K again. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.

The first movie is Bullitt. This 1968 crime thriller stars Steve McQueen, Jacqueline Bisset, Robert Vaughn, and Robert Duvall.
This movie is probably remembered most for Steve McQueen and a wild car chase involving a Mustang. This is a good quality copy of the movie.

- An all guts, no glory San Francisco cop becomes determined to find the underworld kingpin that killed the witness in his protection.

The second movie is Saints and Soldiers. This is a 2003 indie WW2 film. It is well done and won several awards. I have watched it a few times and recommend it. One of the soldiers is Mormon and that is a discussion point in the film, but mostly they're trying to survive behind enemy lines. The volume on this is low, very low. It's clear, but you will have to turn up the volume to hear this movie. Also, I expect this to get pulled by youtube soon so watch/save quickly.

- Four American soldiers fighting in Europe during World War II rescue a British pilot while struggling to return to Allied territory after being separated from U.S. forces during the historic Malmedy Massacre.

These are 2 more movies in the same spirit (indie WW2 films using the Saints and Soldiers name), but I think that is the only connection with the one above. I have not watched these 2 and the reviews were not as good as the first. I also expect these to be pulled quickly since they are on the same youtube account as the first movie.

The third movie is Donnie Brasco. This 1997 cops-n-mob film stars Al Pacino, Johnny Depp, Michael Madsen, and Bruno Kirby. It's a good movie especially about the reality working in and around the big crime mobs. This is the extended (by 20 minutes) director's cut of the film. This has asian subtitles, sorry.

This true story follows FBI agent Joe Pistone as he infiltrates the mafia of New York in the late 1970's. Befriending Lefty Ruggiero, Pistone (under the name Donnie Brasco) is able to embed himself in a mafia faction led by Sonny Black. Ruggiero and Pistone become tight as the group goes about collecting money for 'the bosses'. Eventually, the group become big-time when Black himself becomes a boss; all the while, Pistone collects evidence. However, the trials and tribulations of the undercover work become more than Pistone can bear. His marriage falls apart, and to top it off, the mafia suspect a mole in the organization. The real dilemma is afforded to Pistone, who knows if he walks away from the mafia, Ruggiero will be the one punished.

The fourth movie is Hot Rods to Hell. This 1967 drive-in movie stars Dana Andrews, Jeanne Crain, and Mimsy Farmer. It's a wild-youth film from the late 60's. They extended the movie to show on TV so it's not that wild. :)

Tom Phillips, his wife Peg, their teenage daughter Tina, and little boy Jamie drive through the California desert heading for a new life running a motel. Things go haywire when teenage bad girl Gloria and her two delinquent boyfriends, Duke and Ernie, torment them and cause trouble with their hot-rod car. Then Duke attempts to seduce the daughter, finally driving dad to take action.

The fifth movie is Venom. This 2018 Marvel comic book adaptation stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Riz Ahmed. This has spanish subtitles, sorry.

- A failed reporter is bonded to an alien entity, one of many symbiotes who have invaded Earth. But the being takes a liking to Earth and decides to protect it.

Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is a famous journalist/ reporter who "follows people who don't want to be followed" as he puts it. He comes across the Life Foundation and in an attempt to uncover allegations about the foundation, he loses his entire career. Six months later, he is brought back to the foundation by one of their leading scientists. In his visit, Eddie comes across an alien known as a Symbiote. Venom, the Symbiote, choses to attach and adapt to Eddie's body. This gets Brock in trouble with Drake, the leader of the Life Foundation. Eddie/Venom must stop Drake from continuing with his plans of turning the humans en masse into full Symbiotes with his invasion forces.

The sixth movie is Holiday. This 1938 romantic comedy stars Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn, Doris Nolan, and Lew Ayres. This is a high quality copy of this fun film.

A young man is in love with a girl from a rich family. His unorthodox plan to go on holiday for the early years of his life is met with skepticism by everyone except for his fiancée's eccentric sister and long-suffering brother.

The seventh movie is Dead Reckoning. This 1947 crime noir stars Humphrey Bogart, Lizabeth Scott, and Morris Carnovsky.

- A soldier runs away rather than receive the Medal of Honor. His buddy gets permission to investigate, and love and death soon follow.

Rip Murdock and Johnny Darke are en route to Washington when Johnny disappears then turns up dead. Rip learns that Johnny had been accused of murder and sets out to find out what he can. He falls in love with Coral whose husband Johnny is supposed to have killed.

Bullit was great. The story of the recently announced hero car is worth reading. A collector bought it for about $5k right after the filming, and since there was no internet in those days, the public didn't know where it went. It was auctioned within the last year.

Watching Dead Reckoning now - never heard of it. Great film.

Thanks for posting. I just watched Bullitt for I don't know how many times. I still remember seeing it in the theater in 1968 on a big screen - WOW !!!

They found the original Mustang and are refurbishing it. I wonder if anyone tried to find the original Dodge ?? That would be cool to have both. Man, hell of a good movie !!!!

FYI, Prime Video has all Saints and Soldiers, all 3 movies ... included with Prime video.
Watching the 1st one.

I was wondering where the movie thread went. GLAD I found it, Bullitt is one of the best car chase movies ever. The rest of these selections are going to be downloaded as well. They all look like good fun!
