There are 7 movies this week.
I recommend watching or saving these soon.

This thread on MAIN has the info about the movies and is the place for discussion about them.
However, all of the movie and download links for my movie choices are located in a separate,
members-only, thread in the MEDIA CENTER at this link:

---->>> Link to the thread containing the actual movie links (click this) <<<----

This should help protect the source of the movies and keep them available longer.

Click the "movies" tag at top to see a list of previous movie threads.

Movie trailers (from youtube) can be found in post #9 of this thread.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is Army of the Dead. This 2021 zombie adventure stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, and Omari Hardwick.

This is a fun zombie popcorn flick. It has action, stunts, gore, more action, and a few new zombie ideas. This is from Zack Snyder who made the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead (also a good flick). That was good, but someone must have told him they wanted bigger, bolder. ;)

- Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted before a nuclear bomb destroys everything inside.

The second movie is Office Space. This 1999 comedy stars Ron Livingston, Jennifer Aniston, Ajay Naidu, Deidrich Bader, and Stephen Root.

- Three company workers who hate their jobs decide to rebel against their greedy boss.

Peter Gibbons just can't seem to catch a break. He believes his girlfriend is cheating on him, he has an intrusive neighbor, and he's completely miserable with his job as a small cog in a company called Initech. Then he visits a hypnotherapist, who dies just after putting Peter into a state of complete bliss. Free of worrying about making a living, he no longer feels the need to keep his job, just as the company is going through a massive downsizing. However, his new attitude only makes him more valuable in the company's consultant's eyes.

The third movie is The Sting. This crime drama stars Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Robert Shaw, and Eileen Brennan.

- Two grifters team up to pull off the ultimate con.

Following the murder of a mutual friend, aspiring con man Johnny Hooker teams up with old pro Henry Gondorff to take revenge on the ruthless crime boss responsible, Doyle Lonnegan. Hooker and Gondorff set about implementing an elaborate scheme, one so crafty that Lonnegan won't even know he's been swindled. As their big con unfolds, however, things don't go according to plan, requiring some last-minute improvisation by the undaunted duo.

The fourth movie is Wild Wild West. This 1999 action comedy stars Kevin Kline, Will Smith, and Ted Levine.

- The two best special agents in the Wild West must save President Grant from the clutches of a diabolical, wheelchair-bound, steampunk-savvy, Confederate scientist bent on revenge for losing the Civil War.

Jim West is a guns-a-blazing former Civil War hero. Artemus Gordon is an inventive U.S. Marshal who excels in disguise. When the United States is threatened by psychotic Confederate Arliss Loveless, President Ulysses S Grant teams the duo up to bring him to justice. On a hazard-packed train journey from Washington, D.C. to Utah, West and Gordon must combine their skills to best Loveless and his diabolical machines.

The fifth movie is Vampires. This 1998 John Carpenter horror thriller stars James Woods, Daniel Baldwin, Sheryl Lee, and Thomas Ian Griffith. This is a personal favorite film.

The church has long known that vampires exist. However, it is discovered that a group of vampires are searching for a powerful doom for mankind. The Vatican secretly enlists a team of vampire-hunters, led by Jack Crow, to hunt down and destroy the vampires before they find the powerful hidden relic.

The sixth movie is Tread. This 2020 documentary might be of interest to some here.

- Pushed to his breaking point, a master welder in a small town at the foot of the Rocky Mountains quietly fortifies a bulldozer with 30 tons of concrete and steel and seeks to destroy those he believes have wronged him.

On June 4th, 2004, a sixty-three-ton bulldozer, fortified with steel and concrete, systematically destroyed numerous businesses and homes in the small mountain town of Granby, Colorado. The rampage lasted over two hours and resulted in more than eight million dollars in damage. State and local police were incapable of even slowing the machine. Though it was armed with three high-powered firearms, no one but the driver was killed. His name was Marvin Heemeyer. TREAD explores the polarizing perspectives on this man, his motives, and what drove him to the breaking point.

I watched this! Very interesting, but those still living give their point of view and basically make Heemeyer out to be a loon…I guess dead men tell no tales.

I found it last night. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. It seemed like something that some here would be interested in.

Vampires is actually based on a novel. John Steakley, who wrote "Armor", also wrote "Vampire$". And yes, the dollar sign is part of the title. The book was a lot better than the movie, and I was honestly disappointed, despite John Carpenter directing. Carpenter is one of my favorite directors and I expected better of him.

I usually like Carpenter's movies, I saw the movie then found the book...not sure how he effed up a solid book with a meh movie, but he did...Vampire$ is my 3rd favorite vampire fiction book.

I was all set to watch Army of the Dead when it came out and then Dave Buttista opened his liberal pie hole about something and it dropped off...may as it gets closer to Halloween I'll give it a spin.

Just watched Tread a little over a month ago, thumbs up.

Wild Wild West - 90's popcorn flick

Vampires - Ok flick, big fan of John Carpenter but after reading the book, he really missed the mark on execution, but decent horror/action flick, and you hell give it a watch just for one of hollyweirds few conservative actors starring in it.

And one of my all time favorite horror flicks is on the list....The Thing

I remember watching the "original" with my grandfather when I was 7 and I remember renting the "remake" when I was 11 or 12. I watched it twice that night. While it's called a remake it is a much "truer" version of John W Campbell's "Who Goes There".

Minor spoiler clip.....but latex and practical SFX are some much better than CGI for monster/horror flicks

Tread sounds interesting, I'll watch it. Thanks for The Sting - loved it when it came out, and don't think I've seen it since.

The Thing is my favorite movie of all time! They made a prequel in 2011 (also called The Thing) that show what happened before the 1982 one. It’s not as good because they used CGI instead of practical effects, but still enjoyable.

Is this the one where it involves the “30 pieces of silver”??
I won’t give away anything else, if it is but I’ve been looking for that movie to watch, again.

I have not read the book Vampire$. It sounds like I need to find it based on the level of hate the movie has generated.

Back in 1998, I discovered timebomb, other websites, and online 3D gaming. I needed a name but was having a hard time thinking of anything. Then I saw Vampires at an afternoon matinee and liked it. Sue me, I'm allowed to like a movie even if the book might be better. It had the Carpenter style that I enjoy. I also got a name from the movie, Slayer, short for a vampire slayer. I used that name for years. Oh, and for the millionth time, NO, it had no relation to the band Slayer. I tried listening to their music once, only once, never again. :D

No I believe the movie you might be thinking about is Dracula 2000, it had a connection to Judas

Edit: Guess i should have read the whole thread... 1911 nailed it.

Dracula 2000 is one I'd really like to post, but I have not ran into a decent version of it.
It gets serious about vampire hunting plus it has the deadly babes... :)

I've had the above link for awhile, just for a case of being desperate for "one more movie" some week.

I'm not sure "hate" is the right word. Prior to reading the book one "issue" I had with the movie was one second they're "not supernatural" in nature.....yet their creation is supernaturalish.

For me the movie was ok (I even have it in my DVD collection) until I read the book, and then it was "wow, that movie could have been so much more"

There was a Vampires 2 movie (starring Jon Bon Jovi) that was closer to the book, from what I recall reading. It was called Vampires Los Muertos. It was OK, but definitely had the look of a B movie.

Wow, thank you!

These are excellent movies!

Like others have said so far, John Carpenter is my favorite director…
