It's movie time on TB2K. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.
If you watch or download a movie, please comment or like to guide future selections.
Click the "movies" tag at the top to see a list of all previous movie threads.
Click on individual movie posters to see them full size.
The movie trailers are located in post #8.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is Alien vs. Predator. This 2004 sci-fi horror film stars Lance Henriksen, Sanaa Lathan, Raoul Bova, Aliens, and Predators. :)
This is the unrated extended version of the movie where the Aliens and Predators finally meet. The IMDB link below has details if you are curious about the differences or just info about the movie.

During an archaeological expedition on Bouvetøya Island in Antarctica, a team of archaeologists and other scientists find themselves caught up in a battle between the two legends. Soon, the team realize that only one species can win.

The second movie is Streets of Fire. This 1984 Walter Hill film stars Michael Pare', Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan and Willem Dafoe. A Rock and Roll Fable is a good description. The movie and the music are a personal favorite. Trivia: I have had the soundtrack for this playing in the background when creating every movie thread to date. The youtube link at the bottom has the full soundtrack for the movie. The music is a combination between 1950's and early 1980's rock. The movie looks like something from the urban 1950's. Try to ignore the spanish subtitles.

This is also a decent action film with some interesting gunplay and nice car/motorcyle stunts.

A singer is taken captive by a motorcycle gang in a strange urban world that seems to be a cross of the 1950's and the present. Her ex-military boyfriend returns to town to find her and go to her rescue. (Not a great description, but, just watch it, this is a classic)

The third movie is Deliverance. This 1972 white water adventure stars Burt Reynolds, John Voight, Ned Beatty, and Ronnie Cox.

Four Atlanta businessmen embark on a canoeing trip through a river in deep Georgia. The reason behind their trip is the local power company is planning to dam the river, making it into a giant lake. This will be the last time they will get to see the river in it's natural state. The men come across some hostile locals and things take a turn for the worse as the four struggle to survive in the American wilderness.

The fourth movie is The Gods must be Crazy. This 1980 adventure comedy is a hard to find cult classic starring a bushman and a coke bottle.

This movie listing is unusual because the posted movie is actual DVD files. The movie player at archive.org will play it like a normal movie, but downloading for home viewing will be different. VLC media player will be needed since it will directly play dvd files. If serious about downloading this, post and I'll provide details.

- A comic allegory about a traveling Bushman who encounters modern civilization and its stranger aspects.

A bushman in the Kalahari desert encounters technology for the first time--in the shape of a Coke bottle. He takes it back to his people, and they use it for many tasks. The people start to fight over it, so he decides to return it to the God--where he thinks it came from. Meanwhile, we are introduced to a school teacher assigned to a small village, a despotic revolutionary, and a clumsy biologist.

The fifth movie is Repo Man. This 1984 action comedy stars Harry Dean Stanton and Emilio Estevez. It's an 80's cult classic.

Now-classic punk fable of Otto, the newly hired repossession man. This off beat film has a little of everything: action, comedy, urban decay, police drama, mystery, governmental conspiracy and even UFO's. The story centers on Otto's search for a mysterious Malibu carrying an odd cargo.

A young punk is recruited by a car repossession agency. He finds himself in pursuit of a Chevrolet Malibu that is wanted for a $20,000 bounty - and has something otherworldly stashed in its trunk.

Got the new laptop up and running-downloading this week's selections. Deliverance was filmed on the Chattooga (sp) river in NE Georgia. Did a canoe trip of the same river when I was younger (and stupid-er) That was one dangerous river as I remember it. Especially when you can't swim.
Love the variety this week, superb selections!

Fringe Ranger
Alien/Predator has real characters for the doomed team. It's not all cardboard and red jerseys. And the female lead is played like Sigourney Weaver played Aliens - mostly scared to death and doing what she had to. Nice change from the smug females and feckless males that are the current crop of films.

"The sixth movie is Nevada Smith. This 1966 western stars Steve McQueen, Karl Malden, Brian Keith, Arthur Kennedy, and Suzanne Pleshette."

Interesting movie trivia; in the 1964 movie, "The Carpetbaggers", Alan Ladd plays Nevada Smith. Two years later, in a movie western prequel, Steve McQueen played Ladd's character in "Nevada Smith".
