Busy day tomorrow so I'm posting these tonight. The world seems unusually stressed. Here are 4 good movies to escape for a few hours. Consider this a special weekend for TB2K films. I've been saving these titles.

First up is 47 RONIN with Keanu Reeves from 2013. This is a beautiful movie full of honor, betrayal, action, and asian mysticism. Keanu Reeves does very well in this film. A group of masterless samuri (ronin) pledge their lives to avenge the betrayal of their master.
- There is a legend of 47 warriors who seized eternity.
- A band of samurai set out to avenge the death and dishonor of their master at the hands of a ruthless shogun.

The 2nd feature is YOUNG GUNS from 1988. Emillio Esteves, Keifer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Charlie Sheen, Dermot Mulroney, Jack Palance, Terry O'Quinn, and a few others
star in this one. It's cowboy action set in 1878 New Mexico with a great deal of younger talent.
- A group of young gunmen, led by Billy the Kid, become deputies to avenge the murder of the rancher who became their benefactor. But when Billy takes their authority too far, they become the hunted.

The 3rd feature is PAPER MOON from 1973. This stars the father-daughter team of Ryan and Tatum O'Neil in depression-era Kansas conning their way from town to town. Tatum O'Neil was 10 during this film and became the youngest Oscar winner in a competitive category. Madeline Kahn and John Hillerman (Higgins in Magnum PI) play big roles as well. It's a fun film.
- During the Great Depression, a con man finds himself saddled with a young girl who may or may not be his daughter, and the two forge an unlikely partnership.

Last, and certainly not least, is THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE. This 1948 Humphrey Bogart classic by John Huston is a good adventure/western set in 1925 in the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico.
- Two Americans searching for work in Mexico convince an old prospector to help them mine for gold in the Sierra Madre Mountains.
- Fred C. Dobbs and Bob Curtin, both down on their luck in Tampico, Mexico in 1925, meet up with a grizzled prospector named Howard and decide to join with him in search of gold in the wilds of central Mexico. Through enormous difficulties, they eventually succeed in finding gold, but bandits, the elements, and most especially greed threaten to turn their success into disaster.
