In searching for movies, I have found some that must be downloaded to watch and others that require adjustments in addition to downloading. I'm posting them here. This is NOT the weekly movie post. I'll have that tomorrow night.
I understand this download-only movie posting may not be useful to some, sorry.

This will be less formal than usual. I'll give the movie name, an IMDB link, an archive.org link, a download link (right click, save target as..), and any special comments to watch the movie. No posters, no star list, no synopsis, no trailers, etc. Most of these are well known anyway and IMDB will tell about the movie if you want more info.

For some, it will be as simple as downloading and watching. Two will require selecting the second audio track for English (first audio track will be foreign). One will require subtitles (provided). Some will be .mkv file format.

I suggest using a good media viewer, one that allows changing aspect ratio, audio tracks, etc. I use VLC media player. It's free, open-source, and works with many platforms. Interesting selections! And a fantastic job on digging these up and showing exactly how to play them.

Did you ever load up The Last Don on one of these movie nights? I thought I had a full copy of the movie, but it cut off halfway into it. Might not have downloaded it properly.

I haven't posted the last don.

I keep movies played and to be played plus notes in a simple notepad file. These are ones I've accumulated in the last few months that couldn't be posted normally. I simply posted them so I could move them off the primary part of my list. Also to get them to those willing to put in a little extra effort. Plus, they are good movies once tweaked, if needed.

I never did like "The Predator". My faves are "Predator" (the first one), and "Predators" (the one with Adrian Brody).

It is a good movie, and based on a true story. I read a book about it years ago. They wouldn't let Steve McQueen do the motorcycle stunt in the real movie so he did it off-camera after the movie was finished. He did a lot of off-road motorcycle riding and racing.

Too bad they posted the movie in that letter-box format for old-style (non-wide) TVs. The tweaks make it look decent and fill the screen width.

So this channel 1 or 2 selection for The Predator; is that something selectable while streaming? Can't seem to find any control for that. Or, is that for playing back the download ?

There are 2 audio tracks embedded in the movie. You have to select #2 when watching it (for english). Your video player will automatically start with audio track #1.

I gotcha. I was streaming it and that doesn't allow selection. Also realized I've already seen not too long ago.

Love Hellboy. I really like Ron Perlman. If you get the chance check out "The City of Lost Children". Obscure old scifi with Ron in it. Good flic.

actually he wouldn't do the motorcycle scene because of all the various restriction imposed by the film contract >>> he finally consented when they gave him the motorcycle used in the film ....

interesting enough >> the "Germans" chasing SM - it was Steve McQueen doing those scenes also - the stuntmen couldn't drive well enough for the terrain follow

It is a FANTASTIC MOVIE. You will not regret it, even with sub titles.

I don't know, it was a movie about cavemen, they talked :shr:

They did the same thing in 30 Days of Night. The vampire language was made up for that movie and yes, there were subtitles...

I agree, the first one is really nice. Great casting (the producers specifically wanted Perlman for the title role); Professor Bruttenholm is spot on, Abe is extremely well done, Ilsa and Rasputin are nearly perfect, Von Kroenen (the freak in the gas mask) is exactly like his literary counterpart, and the monsters are incredible thanks to Guillermo Del Toro. The second Hellboy, "Golden Army" is quite a bit less interesting, and the reboot would be nearly unwatchable if it weren't a lot closer to the source material. Go find the original set of graphic novels; they're MUCH higher quality. Mike Mignola and his team mined through some really dense mythologies and histories when they wrote them; some of the detail is really subtle and obscure.

The first few MIB were good, but they didn't have Ron Perlman... :D
He nailed the Hellboy attitude.

I want to find Thunderbolt and Blue [[IIRC name correctly]] Motorcycle cops in Cali, long before that goofy CHip's showed up.

Me and Donald Shimoda went to see Hellboy and the LoTR movies.

Hope to get the Assassin's Creed movie too-theatre where is showed had it grey-no blcks, no whites, no contrast so it was hard to watch, not the best intro to the game universe but if they could do a second with better depth and more Assassin it would make the first one good.

Same prob with the games-too much 'Current timeframe' stuff no one is really interested in versus, well, killing bad guys and seeing what havok one can wreak on crowds of NPC's.
