It's an unusual mix this week, again.

Note that amazon has further taken over IMDB.
Movie posters are now hard to get so no more posters.
They can be seen at the IMDB link if interested, just not saved easily

It's movie time on TB2K again. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.
If you watch or download a movie, please comment or like it to guide future selections.
The movie mix comes from youtube and archive.org. That will continue for the future.
Click the "movies" tag at top to see a list of previous movie threads.
The movie trailers are located in post #7.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is The Count of Monte Cristo. This 1975 adaption of the novel by Alexandre Dumas stars Richard Chamberlain, Trevor Howard, Donald Pleasence, Tony Curtis, and Louis Jordan.

Edmond Dantes is falsely accused by those jealous of his good fortune, and is sentenced to spend the rest of his life in the notorious island prison, Chateau d'If. While imprisoned, he meets the Abbe Faria, a fellow prisoner whom everyone believes to be mad. The Abbe tells Edmond of a fantastic treasure hidden away on a tiny island, that only he knows the location of. After many years in prison, the old Abbe dies, and Edmond escapes disguised as the dead body. Now free, Edmond must find the treasure the Abbe told him of, so he can use the new-found wealth to exact revenge on those who have wronged him.

The second movie is Here Alone. This 2016 adventure film stars Lucy Waters, Gina Piersanti, Adam Thompson, and Shane West.

- This is what The Walking Dead wants to be.

- A young woman struggles to survive on her own in the wake of a mysterious epidemic that has killed much of society, and forced her deep into the unforgiving wilderness.

In the deep wilderness, Ann, a solitary woman, is foraging for food relying on her limited survival skills. At the same time, in the wake of an apocalyptic global catastrophe, an appalling and virulent epidemic has already decimated most of the population, severely infecting its remaining carriers with symptoms including delirium and unpredictable behavior coupled with aggressive outbursts. Inevitably, now that Ann's husband and baby daughter have succumbed to the invisible and inescapable plague, her days are filled with memories of a not-so-distant life defined by order and security, forcing occasionally the wary woman to hazard raids to nearby farmhouses for supplies. During one of those desperate runs, Ann will discover teenage Olivia and her wounded stepfather Chris who intend to head north, nevertheless, the quiet but ominous stillness is always blemished by the certinty that danger is everywhere, in the shape of ravenous, half-human flesh-eating ...

The third movie is The Pied Piper. This 1972 tale stars Keith Buckley, Patsy Puttnam, and Arthur Hewlett. John Hurt plays a minor role.

Greed, corruption, ignorance, stupidity, and disease. Midsummer, 1349: the Black Death reaches northern Germany. A family of strolling players travel to Hamelin for the Mayor's daughter's wedding to the Baron's son. He wants her dowry to pay his army, while his father taxes the people to build a cathedral he thinks will save his soul. A local Jewish apothecary tries to find a treatment for the plague. The Priests charge him with heresy and witchcraft. A mysterious minstrel (Donovan), who joined up with the players and who has soothed the Mayor's daughter with his music, promises to rid the town of rats for a fee. The Mayor agrees, then reneges after the rats have been dealt with. In the morning, the plague, the Jew's execution, and the Piper's revenge come at once.

The fifth movie is A Clockwork Orange. Consider this infamous 1971 Stanley Kubrik film as the midnight show. No kids allowed.
This stars Malcom McDowell, Patrick Magee, and John Clive.

- In the future, a sadistic gang leader is imprisoned and volunteers for a conduct-aversion experiment, but it doesn't go as planned.

- In a futuristic Britain, a gang of teenagers go on the rampage every night, beating and raping helpless victims. After one of the boys quells an uprising in the gang, they knock him out and leave him for the police to find. He agrees to try "aversion therapy" to shorten his jail sentence. When he is eventually released, he hates violence, but the rest of his gang members are still after him.

Thank you. Sometimes I am reminded of the movie The Time Machine - when the Eloi girl shows the traveler the discs in the cave with all the knowledge recorded on them. I feel like I am preserving culture for my grandkids.

The third movie is The Pied Piper.

Howdy, Folks!

WOW - thanks for the link!

I discovered this years ago in Michael Weldon's book, "The Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film" (1983)

Here's the entry:

The Pied Piper
1972 Paramount (England / W. Germany)
Producers: David Puttnam, Sanford Lieberson
Director: Jacques Demy
Screenwriters: Andrew Berkin, Jacques Demy, Mark Peploe

It's too bad this grim fantasy got such limited distribution
because its a classic not aimed at kids. Forget "Willard;"
the rats shown here bringing plague to a 14th century
English town are scary.

Pop singer Donavan (who unfortunately hasn't been taken
seriously for years) stars as the piper and provides
the music. Donald Pleasence is the inept Baron.
As his despicable son, John Hurt is about to marry an 11-year
old girl. Her crippled friend (Jack Wild) is the apprentice to
the alchemist who is burned at the stake. Also with Diana Dors.

~~~~~~~~
Found a really crappy copy on YouTube years ago, broken into about 20 parts that I had to stitch together in QuickTime. Barely watchable.
This looks great!
[BTW, for anyone reading this - anything out of Michael Weldon's books "The Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film" or "The Psychotronic Video Guide" is worth looking for.]
Thanks again, 1911user!
Peace and Love,
Donald Shimoda
PS: Someone really needs to do a good biopic on Diana Dors (I've read "Blonde Bombshell - The Diana Dors Story" is awful); trouble is, we'd need a top-notch porn director to do it justice, and then it wouldn't get much in the way of mainstream distribution...
If the title is correct, The Pied Piper should be an HD video rip from a bluray with some compression for file size to get it to 1.7GB.
Donald, you should look at the other uploads from that account. There might be other films of interest.
I use that technique often when I find someone posting what is interesting. Even better, find out who has added their films as favorites. They sometimes have interesting, and related, uploads as well. That is how I found The Pied Piper and The Count of Monte Cristo. I was just browsing favorites of favorites of favorites and those looked interesting. The red arrow below shows the key to start that kind of search.
I was looking for something and stumbled across this free download on youtube. I remember it was a very good movie:
On archive I was looking for Chariots of Fire, but no luck.
