A funny thing happened in making this thread this afternoon. All of the movies I'd planned had been deleted.
They were good but came from the same source and it was deleted sometime today.
There is nothing wrong with these, they are a quick plan B.
Having backup options is good, even for videos.

There are 6 movies this week plus Housecarl's classic picks starting at post #21.
I recommend watching or saving these soon.

This thread on MAIN has the info about the movies and is the place for discussion about them.
However, all of the movie and download links for my movie choices are located in a separate,
members-only, thread in the MEDIA CENTER at this link:

---->>> Link to the thread containing the actual movie links (click this) <<<----

This should help protect the source of the movies and keep them available longer.

Click the "movies" tag at top to see a list of previous movie threads.

Movie trailers (from youtube) can be found in post #8 of this thread.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is Inception. This 2010 sci-fi action film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, and Elliot Page.

- A thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O.

Dom Cobb is a thief with the rare ability to enter people's dreams and steal their secrets from their subconsciousness. His skill has made him a hot commodity in the world of corporate espionage, but has also cost him everything he loves. Cobb gets a chance at redemption when he is offered a seemingly impossible task: Plant an idea in someone's mind. If he succeeds, it will be the perfect crime, but a dangerous enemy anticipates Cobb's every move.

The second movie is Riddick. This 2013 sci-fi space adventure stars mostly Vin Diesel. It's the 3rd movie in the Riddick series, but has plenty of flashbacks and other info to understand what is happening.

Betrayed by the Necromongers and left for dead on a remote planet, Riddick learns to adapt to the harsh environment and rediscover his predatory instincts. When a more deadly threat appears on the horizon, he is forced to activate an emergency beacon which attracts two ships: one filled with mercenaries, and another captained by a man with a personal vendetta against Riddick. Then the fun begins.

The third movie is From Dusk Til Dawn. This 1996 adventure stars Harvey Keitel, George Clooney, Juliette Lewis, and Quentin Taratino.

Just so no one misses this:

This is "Rated R for strong violence and gore, language and nudity".

- Two criminals and their hostages unknowingly seek temporary refuge in a truck stop populated by vampires, with chaotic results.

Seth Gecko and his younger brother Richard are on the lam after a bloody bank robbery in Texas. They escape across the border into Mexico and will be home-free the next morning, when they pay off the local kingpin. They just have to survive 'from dusk till dawn' at the rendezvous point, which turns out to be a Hell of a strip joint.

The fourth movie is Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter. This 2012 alternative history fantasy stars Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell, and Dominic Cooper. This is a fun vampire adventure with plenty of action.

Explores the secret life of the America's 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, and the untold story that shaped the nation. The president discovers blood-thirsty vampires are planning to take over the United States. Lincoln makes it his mission to eliminate them, becoming history's greatest hunter of the undead.

The fifth movie is The War of the Worlds. This 1953 sci-fi thriller stars Gene Barry, Ann Robinson, and Robert Cornthwaite.

H.G. Wells' classic novel is brought to life in this tale of alien invasion. The residents of a small town in California are excited when a flaming meteor lands in the hills. Their joy is tempered somewhat when they discover that it has passengers who are not very friendly.

The sixth movie is The Getaway. This 1972 crime thrill stars Steve McQueen, Ali MacGraw, and Ben Johnson.

- A recently-released ex-con and his loyal wife go on the run after a heist goes awry.

Doc McCoy has been granted parole. The catch is that Sheriff Beynon expects a small favor from McCoy for his generosity: robbing another bank! Beynon does not really intend to let McCoy walk away after the heist and neither does co-robber Rudy Butler, but stopping Doc proves a trifle difficult.

Thanks once more for your unflagging efforts to bring great films to us. The 1953 version of War of the Worlds is one of my all-time favorites. I'll be watching it this evening, although the ending [no spoilers] will have a slightly different connotation since the WuFlu made an appearance.

Dusk Till Dawn is freaking scary, violent and not fir empathy, nor children or young teens. The very end scene makes you think oh my regarding century old demonic influences.
Exactly how much more warning do I need to give?????
There is an IMDB LINK with every movie ever posted if people want to learn more.
I posted this with the description:

This is "Rated R for strong violence and gore, language and nudity".

Apparently the old war of the worlds was the only thing worth posting this week.

Thanks for the original WotW. Also Riddick, which I'd been curious about. Good stuff!

Thanks. These come in handy when, like this weekend, the
storms (&/or goats) knock out the internet & power.
Also useful in rectifying sleep deficits. ; )

Stalingrad (1993) in German with English subtitles (although listed as german substitles, you may have to turn the subs on).

The story follows a group of German soldiers, from their Italian R&R in the summer of 1942 to the frozen steppes of Soviet Russia and ending with the battle for Stalingrad. This is a brutal movie about a brutal part of WW2.

I'm writing this weekend off as a loss.

Not where I stand. I downloaded everything except Getaway, which I had. Riddick was fun, and everything else is on hold while I work on projects around the farm. This was a good list.
