It's movie time on TB2K again. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.

The first movie is Adventures in Babysitting. This 1987 comedy stars Elizabeth Shue, Maia Brewton, and Keith Coogan.

- A babysitter must battle her way through the big city after being stranded there with the kids she's looking after.

Chris Parker agrees to babysit after her boyfriend, Mike Todwell, stands her up. Expecting a dull evening, she settles down with three kids for a night of TV...and boredom. But when her frantic friend, Brenda, calls and pleads to be rescued from the bus station in downtown Chicago, the evening soon explodes into an endless whirl of hair raising adventures. Chris and the kids leave their safe suburban surroundings and head for the heart of the big city, never imagining how terrifyingly funny their expedition will become.

The second movie Legends of the Fall. This 1994 war drama stars Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Aidan Quinn, and Julia Ormand.
This film has asian subtitles, sorry.

- In the early 1900s, three brothers and their father living in the remote wilderness of Montana are affected by betrayal, history, love, nature, and war.

Set in the Rocky Mountains of Montana in the early 1900s, this is a tale of love, betrayal, and brotherhood. After being discharged, Colonel William Ludlow (Sir Anthony Hopkins) decides to raise his three sons in the wilds of Montana, where they can grow up away from the government and society he has learned to despise. The three brothers mature and seem to have an unbreakable bond, until Susannah (Julia Ormond) enters their lives. When Samuel (Henry Thomas), the youngest of the three, returns from college he brings with him his beautiful fiancée, Susannah. The eldest son, Alfred (Aidan Quinn), soon finds himself in love with his brother's fiancée, and things get worse when he discovers a growing passion between Susannah and Tristan (Brad Pitt). Colonel William Ludlow's favorite son, Tristan is willful and as wild as the mountains. As the brothers set out to fight a war in Europe, suspicion and jealousy threatens to tear apart their once indestructible bond.

The third movie is Coherence. This 2013 sci-fi mystery stars Emily Bardoni, Maury Sterling, and Nicholas Brendon.

Eight friends get together for dinner while a comet is passing overhead. After a power blackout across the neighborhood, strange events start occurring. Venturing out to investigate why a particular house has lights, the friends find themselves in a world with a troubling chain of reality bending events.

The fourth movie is 28 Days Later. This sci-fi horror (zombie) film is a repeat from the past and has asian subtitles, sorry.

- Four weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary.

A group of animal rights activists break into a lab and release monkeys from their cages to rescue them, despite warnings from a scientist that the monkeys are contagious. As a result of the animal rights activists' actions, a virus that the monkeys contained rapidly across Great Britain and infects numerous people. Jim, who fell into a coma following a bicycle accident shortly before the virus was released, emerges from his coma and finds that London is deserted. He realizes that he is not alone, as within the city there are those that have been infected and those that have not. Jim manages to find more survivors and they head out to Manchester, where a group of British military personnel offer protection of any survivors from the infected. However, Jim and his colleagues have no idea what they're in for.

The fifth movie is Splash. This 1984 Ron Howard romantic comedy stars Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah, and John Candy.

Allen Bauer is rescued from drowning as a young boy off Cape Cod by a young mermaid. Years later, he returns to the same location, and once again manages to fall into the sea, and is rescued once more by the mermaid (Allen isn't sure what he has seen and what he has imagined). Using maps from a sunken ship, the mermaid decides to search for Allen in New York City, sprouting legs when her tail dries. On finding Allen, they fall in love, but she has a secret, which will no longer be a secret if she gets her legs wet.

The sixth movie is Alice in Wonderland. It is a 1951 Disney animation classic.

- Alice stumbles into the world of Wonderland. Will she get home? Not if the Queen of Hearts has her way.

On a golden afternoon, young Alice follows a White Rabbit, who disappears down a nearby rabbit hole. Quickly following him, she tumbles into the burrow - and enters the merry, topsy-turvy world of Wonderland! Memorable songs and whimsical escapades highlight Alice's journey, which culminates in a madcap encounter with the Queen of Hearts - and her army of playing cards!

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I saw it with a friend when it came out in the theater, and we both sobbed. It took so many unexpected turns that were totally opposite of what you wanted to have happen. It’s a sad, tragic movie, full of deep love and deep loss. I’ve seen it so many times. My sister named her son Aidan, after Aidan Quinn. And I know several Tristans that were named after Brad Pitt’s character in the movie. It stays with you a long, long time.

The Mist​
After a powerful storm damages their Maine home, David Drayton (Thomas Jane) and his young son head into town to gather food and supplies. Soon afterward, a thick fog rolls in and engulfs the town, trapping the Draytons and others in the grocery store. Terror mounts as deadly creatures reveal themselves outside, but that may be nothing compared to the threat within, where a zealot (Marcia Gay Harden) calls for a sacrifice. Based on a novella by Stephen King.

Before long, they see a tribe of Native Americans raiding a small pioneer village. However, Nella's desire for wealth puts a damper on their burgeoning relationship. Meanwhile, the cattle drivers must make one last trip through unwelcoming native territories.

Just watched Alice, which I must have watched as a kid but don't remember. Holy Toledo that is some solid gold strange stuff. No wonder I've been warped all my life.

After watching the brain-twisters Predestination and Coherence back-to-back, I feel strangely comfortable with the events of 2020 now. :crz::xpnd:
