TAKE A STAND AND RESIST!
These last four years have truly been disastrous for our nation. We have found ourselves in the grip and under the leadership of avowed socialists, communists, and appeasers as well as embracers the teachings of radical Islam. Our land races towards an economic cliff that will result in the total implosion of our way of life in short order. The depression will look like child’s play compared to it. While we are running around and crying, “peace and safety”, sudden destruction is about to fall upon us. If radical change is not made very soon in the political realm (this election), but even more so in the spiritual realm as it relates to the Church in America (revival), the days of our Republic are numbered, and not for long.
As we observe the New World Order/political plans being unveiled before our very eyes, what is to be the response of those who identify themselves as followers of Jesus Christ? There is no doubt that our first loyalty and devotion is to our King, the true and ONLY King, Jesus Christ, and His Kingdom. We are to draw near to Him, live daily in fellowship with Him, and allow His life and love to flow to all around us who need it. We are to pray for all men, EVEN (and especially), those who lead us in the political realm. I pray regularly for their salvation, guidance, and for their hearts to be directed by God in order that His purposes might be fulfilled. But, when those who rule us become tyrannical in their policies and rule, what are we to do?
Some would quote Romans 13:1-7 and say that we are to submit to them no matter what. They think that Paul is teaching that all rulers have their authority from God, and that to resist any law or command of a ruler is to resist the will of God. The end result of such an interpretation is blind allegiance and submission to tyrants who would actively be engaged in actions and policies that would be in direct opposition to God and His Kingdom ( example: free speech being removed when it comes speaking out against the false teachings of Islam and its teachings that are in direct opposition to the Word of God and the Gospel). They believe that in submitting to the tyrants, they are submitting to the will of God! Nothing could be further from the truth.
This interpretation of Romans 13: 1-7 has been used by wicked rulers throughout history to silence, control and manipulate followers of Jesus. Hitler used it to control the churches in Germany. He said, “The Protestants haven’t the faintest conception of a church. You can do anything you like with them, they will submit. These pastors are used to cares and worries...they learnt them from their squires...they are insignificant little people, submissive as dogs, and they sweat with embarrassment when you talk to them. They have neither a religion they can take seriously nor a great position to defend like Rome” (Adolf Hitler, quoted in Herman Rauschning, The Voice of Destruction, London, 1940).
Those believers and pastors who did take a stand in Hitler’s day, were severely criticized by church leaders and members who supported him. They were accused of disobeying their “governing authorities” when they began to help hide the Jews from Hitler’s “final solution”. Eventually, many were imprisoned or killed so that they could be silenced. Dietrich Bonehoeffer is a prime example of this. The church in Germany looked very much like the church in America today. It was quite liberally minded, State sponsored, theologically bankrupt, and filled with unconverted cowards, especially in the pulpits.
On January 30, 1750, Jonathan Mayhew, a Harvard graduate and Congregationalist minister, preached his Discourse Concerning Unlimited Submission and Non-Resistance to the Higher Powers. He preached it in response to those who were using the Romans 13 passage to argue that the colonists, and believers in particular, were to support and obey King George III, whether he was right or wrong. In it he said the following:
“Here the apostle argues, that those who resist a reasonable and just authority, which is agreeable to the will of God, do really resist the will of God himself; and will, therefore, be punished by him," said Mayhew. "But how does this prove, that those who resist a lawless, unreasonable power, which is contrary to the will of God, do therein resist the will and ordinance of God? Is resisting those who resist God's will, the same thing with resisting God?"
"Common tyrants, and public oppressors, are not entitled to obedience from their subjects, by virtue of any thing here laid down by the inspired apostle." To illustrate his point Mayhew raises a similar case. "Suppose God requires a family of children, to obey their father and not to resist him...Suppose this parent at length runs distracted, and attempts, in his mad fit, to cut all his children's throats: Now, in this case, is not the reason before assigned, why these children should obey their parent while he continued of a sound mind, namely, their common good, a reason equally conclusive for disobeying and resisting him, since he is become delirious, and attempts their ruin?"
The interpretation of the quote is this; when rulers rule righteously, and according to the will of God, submit to them. When they are tyrannical and promote things contrary to the command and will of God, resist them.
Obviously, as has been well stated by others, our “higher powers” are not the President, Vice-President, or Congress. No, our higher powers, rest in the Constitution of these United States. A document that we, as well as our “elected” officials, are to submit to as our higher governing authority on this earth. When our elected officials lead in a direction that is not only contrary to God, but to the Constitution of this country, what are we to do? We are to resist.
There are several forms of resistance that one can take. You can choose to remove yourself and hide during a time of difficulty and trouble, and re-emerge after the storm has passed. There is no dishonor in this, and it may be what God leads many to do. He has in the past.
Another form of resistance is protest. You may do this physically, verbally, or in a written form. To resist along these lines is to be committed to having your voice and views heard no matter what. This is also honorable. It may lead to great persecution or even death, but it may also serve to awaken many who have been asleep to the peril that has surrounded them and stands at their gates.
With the advent of modern media (television, the internet, etc.), this second form of protest and resistance can have a far reaching impact and touch many lives who may not have otherwise been touched.
The third form of resistance is referred to as “armed resistance”. This is a combative form that involves the taking up of arms in self-defense in order to resist the tyranny that is being forced upon a people. Though not always the wisest thing to do, especially in the face of modern warfare, etc., it is still an option. Especially if the the lives of those you hold dear are threatened.
Or, you can remain silent and do nothing. You can fearfully submit to the tyrant and his government and thereby disobey God and His Word, as well as place the lives of all those you hold dear in jeopardy and sure bondage.
My deep concern at the moment is that the church today is full of cowards. It is filled with people (especially many men), whose only concern is for their own personal welfare and comfort. Being politically correct and secularly popular, are more important to them than being obedient tot the Most High God! They have no desire to rock the boat and will take whatever handouts and assurances any modern Pharaoh gives them. They have wet noodles for backbones and knees that are made of jelly. They will gladly trade their “freedoms” for any promise of security and prosperity. In fact, security and prosperity in this world are all they are after. Just read their book titles and listen to what they are teaching!
In a powerful sermon preached on May 8, 1758, Samuel Davies said:
But when, in this corrupt, disordered state of things, where the lusts of men are perpetually embroiling the world with wars and fightings and throwing all into confusion; when ambition and avarice would rob us of our property, for which we have toiled and on which we subsist; when they would enslave the freeborn mind and compel us meanly to cringe to usurpation and arbitrary power; when they would tear from our eager grasp the most valuable blessing of Heaven, I mean our religion; when they invade our country, formerly the region of tranquility, ravage our frontiers, butcher our fellow subjects, or confine them in a barbarous captivity in the dens of savages; when our earthly all is ready to be seized by rapacious hands, and even our eternal all is in danger by the loss of our religion; when this is the case, what is then the will of God?
Must peace then be maintained? Maintained with our perfidious and cruel invaders? Maintained at the expense of property, liberty, life, and everything dear and valuable? Maintained, when it is in our power to vindicate our right and do ourselves justice? Is the work of peace then our only business? No; in such a time even the God of Peace proclaims by His providence, “To arms!”
Brothers and sisters, such a time is upon us now. We must all seek God as to our means of resistance. We cannot, before God, sit back and do nothing. If we do, then our lot will be the same as that of the Germans under Hitler. We will watch from our beds of ease and comfort, the lines of believers and patriots being registered and publicly condemned in one form or another. We will watch them carried away to “re-education” centers, and then will begin to hear the reports of their deaths in some far away place because they would not “conform” and were threats to our national security and stability.
Sound far fetched? I would hazard to guess that it did to the average German churchgoer in the 1930’s as well. But it happened. Our leaders in this nation seem to have chosen the tyrannical path of Lucifer. They are committed to his New World Order. God and His Word have been cast aside. The governing documents of this Republic are being ignored and re-interpreted to suit the needs of tyrants.
What are we to do? Resist! First and foremost on our knees. More has been changed by those on their knees than by any army that has ever marched on the face of the earth.
VOTE! While you still have the chance, let your choice and voice be heard through the ballot box. Don’t let media lies and distortions keep you home on Tuesday, November sixth! Get out and make your Constitutionally guaranteed stand!
Then, we must cry out with our voices, our words, and our lives. If history holds true, one who has a strong and influential voice, will never have to make the choice of any kind of “armed” resistance. Why? Because the powers that be, will see that he or she will be reduced to ashes before sunset.
