(SUN) Spectacular Coronal Mass Ejection

Blue

Nice site! I am adding that place to my collection. Almost looks like lightening, doesn't it?

Lasco and soho are unblocked, but only showing yesterdays data.

keep up the good work.

I am amazed that men have built electronics to shoot these pictures so far away.

God indeed gave us creative minds.

Thanks for posting this. Keep us informed.

Signs of a "dark" mass CME

The sun cams went "dark" again, posting no new data. This afternoon I perused the data posted, and going back far enough, to the 16 th I found evidence of what appears to be a "dark" ejecta, instead of the usual electried appearing coronal mass ejection that occurs.

Curious, and who knows if it is heading towards us. The Bright spot is still pointed right at us. The next few pics will show the sequence. You can review it all here:

http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime/realtime-c3.html

Also, before I forget, there do appear to be numerous "comet" like streaks in many pics showing up the last couple of days. Mccanney has said many comets are showing up, and many are being photoshopped out.

DS,

You got any idea what that dark CME thing is? I am not familiar with anything like that. I will see what I can dig up...though.

Doesn't look good at all....

Yikes:eek:

And for blu

and other sleuths who may want to compare this xray data to yesterdays other posted data and see if they "line up" without any hacking or slashing, forge on ahead - I am busy tracking EQ's.

http://www.lmsal.com/solarsoft/latest_events/

I had to slash this pic quite a bit to get it to fit the size limit. I urge everyone interested to go look at the original to see how much xrays have shot out the last two days (and it wouldn't surprise me if it has been "filtered out" of other data sites).

Found this unique comment on

www.dxlc.com/solar/

"There is an unusually large and dense J-shaped filament in the northeast quadrant and rotating into the northwest quadrant, it is trailing coronal hole CH76 and has nearly the same shape. An eruption of this filament will cause a large CME.

Coronal mass ejections (CMEs)
January 18: The M1 flare early in the day in region 10540 was likely associated with an earth directed CME. No LASCO images are yet available to confirm this.

January 17: The major M5 flare in region 10540 was likely associated with an earth directed CME. No LASCO images are yet available to confirm this.

January 15-16: No partly or fully earth directed CMEs observed."

And at the nasa site there is a "special" explanation of "Prominence" that might correlate to the J-shaped filament mentioned. Still don't know if this has anything to do with the dark CME. Will keep looking.

PS that is one of my favorite sites to visit too, DS. Lots of data there.

Apparently

A large CME just went off in the last hour or so since I last looked:

Color soho has not been updated.

This is

the only soho color pic that is updated, strangely all the others are 4 hours behind this one. and this one, is much much brighter than all the ones in it's sequence. i don't know if they changed the filter or what, but this is very bright compared to everything else on the site.

yep blu, i've been watching that filament since it came around the edge of the sun. i've been wondering if it was going to let loose while pointing at us. just a couple more days and we'll be safe, lol.

For all those

looking in Unex for solar news, I've posted the last large explosion today, on the main page, so you can look at it there till they move it here.

I am

going to speculate, that now that the VERY bright sun spots are about to rotate around the limb that very large CME's are a distinct possibility, based on hyperdimentional physics.

Another

one today, good sized.

I knew this one was coming based on increasing flaring in the middle of the night.

soho website down

and a few days ago my computer blocked a hack attack from the soho/nasa site with a bad ip address. Looks like somebody got into their site.
