No matter how bad it gets out there, you'll be doing fine. It didn't earn the nickname "Himalaya Stove" for nothing.

I have been around block many times with camping equipment and the two Optimus camp stoves are decent stoves.

The Opimius Nova+ is a multi fuel stove and many in the backpacking community give it a good rating and holds up better than the MSR stoves. Some will berate it because its does not weigh 3 grams with fuel, my self could never understand the attraction to this style of stove (MSR's) with all the problems they have and way to fragile and the Optimus Nova+ is a little more ruggedly made than the MSR's.

The Optiums Hiker should not be confused with the older Optimus model 8R and yes it does look similar but is bigger and heaver than the older model 8R's. The Optimus Hiker is a multi fuel stove and many complain and have issues with it because it needs to be pre-heated (poor babies they will just have to get over it :boohoo: ) and for anyone looking for a reliable stove for car camping or backup for the home that will burn a number of fuels the Optimus Hiker may be right for you.

Red Baron I to agree its a really good stove for anyone wanting a stove for their bug out bag and can do service in the home should it be needed for power outages, I have read a few reports where the owner's of few of these stoves were using paint thiner in them.

The other Optimus stove the "Hiker" is a newer version of the Optimus model 111 and the 111 has a number of variants with an alphabet letter applied to the model number.

The changes that make the Hiker different from the older 111 models is the green paint on the brass fuel tank and feed tube, Nova Burner and the addition of a new jet cleaner! The Hiker uses the Nova burner and also has the same jet cleaning concept as the Optimus Nova+, but the magnet is permanently attached to the stove housing rather than attached to a servicing tool like the Nova+ and the owners manual will explain how it works to clean the jet. Also all these 111 models should have it tank flushed out with a little fuel and pump leather oiled before it is put to use.
The Hiker is a very stable platform and will not tip over easily with a pot on top of it making it near ideal for use in a boat, duck blind and or used in the cabin, home, car camping or hunting camp.
