My opinion:

Picard season 1 was lousy.
Picard season 2 was much better.
Discovery is awful - period.
Strange New Worlds episode 1 was ok but needs to improve if they want me to watch it.

Our problem with Picard was at the end of Season 1, where something significant (don't wanna spoil it) happened with Picard... after that, it was "Why'd they do that, and what's the point of watching any further seasons?".

From the comments, this new "woke" one doesn't exactly sound enticing.

Since 1999
Paramount is butchering the story lines of everything, Halo and Star trek and woke 1883 (indians good, white people bad)
1883 was more true to life than what you probably have been programed to think all your life. Taylor Sheridan is know for his history accuracy in his productions.

1883 was pretty, and pretty dumb. Made no damn sense at all.

Like so many other examples these days, they just had to through in scenes from January 6. Of course, the other “Trek” showed Tracy Abrams as President of the World -I guess she kinda earned it for old Joe….. Unbelievable..

Just for those who are up on Picard (woke or not)

The story line in Season 1, is about one experience for the whole season, each episode is a continuation of that story line.

Season 2 is a totally different story line and each episode is a continuation of that story line.

Whereas the TV version was each episode was a different encounter, and suspect "Worlds" will be the same.

I watched the season opener of "strange new worlds"

Woke As Fuq

Basically, Trumpers caused WWIII

I want to like Star Trek, but basically its a one world order (or galaxys rather) built right in the main story line, a federation of worlds, so it's kinda like the empire in star wars, only fans are rooting for the wrong team.

As a diehard deplorable, I'm rooting for the klingons and romulans

With the entire galaxy and all those races to draw story lines from, they have to focus on terrible woke American politics?

Well, I watched the first episode last night. Yes, it was woke as hell and they even used footage of the January 6th protest. Lot of wind mills in the background. Lot of subliminal stuff embedded into this series. I think the message they want to convey is, what happened to the world Captain Pike beamed down to save, is really us. Disclosure is very close, imo. Keep in mind, Gene Roddenberry got the idea for Star Trek when he was part of a group seance where a channeler brought messages from an off world being. Over all, I will watch it. It's pretty good, except for the woke BS. Pikes #1 looks Asian, not like the original. More like conditioning people to accept China as a partner with the US. Will have to look for clues to Communism in this series.

Wait until you find out about Firefly.

Just watched the second episode. It’s amazing how good a story can be when you leave out THE WOKE... :spns:
Totally enjoyable episode…

Agree it was pretty good.

Warning about to reveal ....so don't scroll down.

Did they say that was LT. Kirk laying there? I didn't quite catch it? And if they did say that, is that THE Capt Kirk.

One thing did bother me: The Shepards ship appeared out of nowhere? How is that even possible? Don't they have the ability to scan 100 million kilometers?

Lastly they stole the music math from Close Encounters.

And of course it's evolution everything so flipping over to Panspermia while a different track and new, wasn't new.

I know I'm to critical, it's sci-fi after all.

Seeing that the next episode up on "Voyager" is a Q who wants to commit suicide. But of course that makes sense, since the last season of Picard was a Q who was dying. LOL

I just took an image of episode 1 at the end where they show NY City and the Statue of Liberty. This is what the Woke did to America...

Just finished watching episode 9 and they killed off one of the best members I think I've ever seen in a Star Trek series. There may still be a way for hemmer to come back though. Has to do with the cold weather and how the gorn can't survive in it.

One more episode to go.

Here is the trailer for # 10.

Spoiler***
I watched the train wreck until the end. They marched out Stacy Abrams as president of Earth. That's how freaking woke it was. Terrible. Even if the new series is good they lost a ton of viewers with the Discovery abortion. We can't have anything good anymore.

Stacey Abrams??!!

There are not enough dilithium crystals in the universe for Scotty to beam her up.

They wrote out Hemmer, so now maybe they introduce Scotty. SNW's is a good series, just not liking the Rachael Maddow navigator or the LBGT crap. When this series comes to an end, when Cpt Pike meets his fate, they'll just bring on the new Cpt Kirk and begin anew.

To begin anew would mean bringing on a Cpt Twerk.

After what all y'all said, I checked last night to see if we missed an episode and we did. Like was noted here Episode 10.

Something didn't gee haw last week, I guess.

Anyway, I hated to see Hemmer go, but at the same time I was dang what is this a new version of Aliens 2 and 3.

To begin anew would mean bringing on a Cpt Twerk.
His dad Lt Kirk, who was in episode 10, he was the one giving Spock down the road.

So now it looks like they need a new Engineer and a new Security Officer.

The Engineer has got to be a young Scotty. Got to be.

I'm not as big a Star Trek geek as some, so I had to look it up:

Pavel Chekov, navigator and security/tactical officer.

I watched the original Star Trek back in the 60's. To me, basically, it was a spaghetti western completely lacking the sauce, set in space rather than the old west. Plain, boiled pasta no matter its shape, is plain, boiled pasta. Kirk's swagger was the ONLY thing that kept me watching. That "Corinthian leather" guy in one episode was kinda cool, too.

I saw the first movie, and a few episodes of the next TV series. I had had enough.

I'm just wondering why, in all this wokeness, why doesn't George Takei not have the main role in any new series?

yep - he could be captain of the rainbow edition of the enterprise!

I suspect it may be due to age.

However there is an episode in Voyager, saw it the other day, where Tovok (the Vulgan) was on a ship where George was the Capt. and he was going to the rescue of Kirk when he was captured and being tried on the Kronos. Not only did he not rescue them, but didn't do a good job as Captain either.

He just doesn't have it.

Seems like he was coming to another rescue in Generations too.

The name of ship in both episodes was Excelsior.

Yes.

Gastronomically, rather than astronomically, my final frontier.

I thought I had sauce in the freezer. No. I thought I had cheese in the fridge. No.

I will say that plain, boiled pasta is one rung up the ladder from the ground level of plain, boiled dry beans.

Generally speaking, do you consider yourself a fan of the sci-fi genre?

I like my movies slow, the only way that tension builds. And the less talking, the better. A great movie essentially has music for much of the "dialog". A picture, moving or not, is worth a thousand words. Usually with the westerns, there is one character that is a lot of mouth, which gives a sharp contrast to the others. Big sky, mountains, dusty canyon trails, horses, saddles, steam engines, six shooters, dirty sweaty women (and men too), oil lamps, camp fires, bed rolls, spurs on boots, saloons, cowboy hats with bullet holes in them, good men, bad men, ugly men, shiny badges often with little authority behind them, the original men in black, flies!, facial expressions, etc...

Didn't Kirk, Spock, and Bones once sit around such an unexpected camp fire?
