In this video, NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley take viewers on a tour of the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft that will take them on a 19-hour-journey to their new home in orbit.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon spacecraft successfully launched from Kennedy Space Center’s historic Launch Pad 39A at 3:22 p.m. EDT on May 30 with the astronauts aboard for a mission to the orbiting laboratory. Crew Dragon will perform a series of phasing maneuvers to gradually approach and autonomously dock with the International Space Station on Sunday, May 31, at approximately 10:29 a.m. EDT.

I had an incredible experience in '80's. was in Florida, 1 mile over water way, standing with huge crowd watching I think Discovery take off. had binocs and camera, the ground vibrations were incredible, the noise deafening, the chills unbelievable, the crowd cheering uplifting, and the pride in my country wonderful!

Back way back when.... Don't remember exactly, the space shuttle program was underway but before the tragedy of the shuttle that blew up upon take-off.....
The local newspaper published an advisory that UTC United Technology Corp (the manufacturer of the side boosters) was going to test its multi-segmented booster (allow me explain, the booster were made in stackable segments connected together, need more power? Stack on another segment or two. )
For this test the booster was mounted upside down on a test stand, the flames and exhaust would be aimed UP. This was in the foothills of Morgan Hill, Calif. the southern end of Silicon Valley.

My dad and I had other things going on and were driving south on old Hwy 101. We pulled over about five minutes before the test firing time the newspaper had published. We waited for ten minutes...nothing.
My dad wanted to move on so we took off. A couple minutes later my Day pulled over quickly... It's happening. We got out after pulling over.
We were about 20 miles away from the test area that was situated in a deep valley. What my dad had seen in his rear view mirror, was the exhaust of the upside down booster flames going upward. The exhaust going up, was as tall as the valley hills.
It is something I'll never forget. We stood beside the car on the side of the highway...my guts were shaking like jello, the sound was deafening, I thought to myself is this like the end of the world would be like?
I'd never, ever experience anything with the power to grab hold and shake the entire body, like the world was ending.... the source was in a valley twenty miles away! An absolutely incredible unbelievable experience of something that powerful. The sound was deafening something I'd never experienced before or since.
That was a single space shuttle booster! The real Space shuttle used two booster burning at the same time AND the main engine.

One of the most visceral and Unforgettable experiences EVER!

Double_A.........I can understand exactly what you are saying. It is like it happened to me this morning! When I bring it to mind, I can still feel it, and hear it, I still see the massive flame going up into the sky.....unreal! Thanks for sharing your experience! hummer

Swamp Gas
I was a kid when Alan Shepard was launched into space.
Dad took the family to Coca Beach where we camped on the beach by the jetties ( yep, they still allowed camping on the beach) to watch the launch. Stayed up all night to see the early morning liftoff.
