Something Rotten in Pennsylvania

Americans deserve to know whether the most consequential state in the most consequential presidential race in modern history handled everything on the up-and-up. Right now, it seems they didn’t.

By Julie Kelly

November 22, 2020

An October 29 story in the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that election officials in several Pennsylvania counties were debating how to alert voters that their mail-in ballot might not meet state requirements. “Officials across Pennsylvania are trying to help voters fix mail ballots that would otherwise be disqualified because of technical mistakes in completing them, creating a patchwork of policies around how—or even whether—people are notified and given a chance to make their votes count,” reporter Jonathan Lai explained. Some jurisdictions were contacting voters directly; one county, according to the paper, sent the “flawed” ballots back to the voters.

But there was a much bigger story behind Lai’s article: Election officials clearly violated the law by inspecting mail-in ballots before November 3. According to Pennsylvania’s election rules, county election boards were required to “safely keep the ballots in sealed or locked containers” until pre-canvassing legally began at 7 a.m. on Election Day.
Not only were an unknown number of mail-in ballots mishandled by election workers days before the official start date, election observers were not present at the premature inspections.

The state’s election code clearly states:
[T]he county board of elections shall meet no earlier than seven o’clock A.M. on election day to pre-canvass all ballots received prior to the meeting. A county board of elections shall provide at least forty-eight hours’ notice of a pre-canvass meeting by publicly posting a notice of a pre-canvass meeting on its publicly accessible Internet website. One authorized representative of each candidate in an election and one representative from each political party shall be permitted to remain in the room in which the absentee ballots and mail-in ballots are pre-canvassed.
Roughy 2.5 million Pennsylanians voted absentee in the general election; nearly 2 million of those votes were cast for Joe Biden. One analysis found rejection rates for Pennsylvania mail-in ballots was 30 times lower this year compared to 2016.
While the president’s lawyers have fixated on hard-to-prove, complex allegations of software rigging and “seized” servers overseas, the more obvious instances of provable voter fraud, especially in the Keystone State, remain mostly ignored. In a fair world, or a country that still takes itself seriously, political leaders of both parties would demand a do-over of Pennsylvania’s election. Rules were changed at the last minute, ballot “curing” guidance inconsistently applied before and after Election Day, and none of the results in other races are in line with a decisive Biden victory.

Take, for example, the fact that Pennsylvania’s incumbent state treasurer—a Democrat—was soundly defeated by a Republican challenger. Joe Torsella, considered a 2022 U.S. Senate or gubernatorial candidate, lost by nearly 80,000 votes. “Torsella’s loss marks the first time since 1994 that a Republican beat an incumbent Democratic statewide officeholder and caps a brutal election cycle for Pennsylvania Democrats in down-ballot races,” the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on November 11.

Biden received nearly 224,000 more votes than Torsella; the difference between Donald Trump and Torsella’s Republican opponent was less than 90,000 votes. A Republican also won Pennsylvania’s auditor general’s race by nearly 200,000 votes. In the state’s 17th Congressional District, Democratic incumbent Conor Lamb barely survived an upset by Republican Sean Parnell in a race most experts rated as a secure Democratic hold.

And in an even bigger shock, Frank Dermody, the Democratic minority leader of the Pennsylvania state legislature, lost the seat he occupied for 30 years to a Republican.
In 2020 the mood of the Pennsylvania electorate—and the country in general—clearly favored Republicans, which makes Biden’s 80,000-vote advantage over the president dubious at best, illegitimate at worse. Nonetheless, after an Obama-appointed judge over the weekend dismissed the Trump campaign’s plea to delay certifying the results, Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Bookvar, a Democrat, is expected to make Biden’s victory there official on Monday.

But Pennsylvania Republicans aren’t giving up yet. Parnell and U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) just filed a lawsuit that claimed Act 77, the law signed in 2019 by Democratic Governor Tom Wolf to extensively relax the state’s mail-in voting rules, including a “no excuse needed” provision, is unconstitutional. “Mail-in voting, in the form implemented through Act 77 is an attempt by the legislature to fundamentally overhaul the Pennsylvania voting system and permit universal, no excuse, mail-in voting absent any constitutional authority.”

Republican state lawmakers are threatening to subpoena executives from Dominion Voting Systems after the company backed out of a scheduled public hearing last week. Dominion is at the center of widespread concerns over unexplained “glitches” and last-minute software updates. In a press conference on November 20, one outraged Republican state legislator accused the company of “retreating into the darkness” and refusing to answer questions about the reliability of its voting machines.

And it’s still unclear whether a ruling by the Democratic-majority Pennsylvania Supreme Court that relied on federal “social distancing” guidelines to justify keeping Republican election observers several feet away from vote canvassers in Philadelphia will go any further. Last week, the court laughably ruled that, although observers could not determine whether mail-in envelopes and ballots were being correctly validated by election workers, “given that observers are directed only to observe and not to audit ballots, we conclude . . . that the Board of Elections has complied with the observation requirements.”

Preposterous.
Pennsylvania’s election is nothing short of an unconstitutional disaster—but that isn’t stopping the state’s Republican senator from urging the president to concede. Lame duck Pat Toomey congratulated Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in a statement issued Saturday night and encouraged the president to “accept” defeat.

But Toomey should instead express outrage at his state’s embarrassing handling of this election. Arguments that a full vetting of the debacle, from illegally pre-canvassing ballots to keeping lawful observers far from the process under the guise of “social distancing” dogma, might not make a difference in the outcome of the presidential election are irrelevant. Americans deserve to know whether the most consequential state in the most consequential presidential race in modern history handled everything on the up-and-up. Right now, all evidence points to the contrary.

Plain Jane

Just Plain Jane
After 2016, Governor Wolf decertified all of the voting machines, and narrowed the choices of voting machines that the counties could choose from. Thereby creating this whole disaster.

I hope that they are looking at the money trail with that.

IMHO this theft of the election will end up just as the FBI and Demon-crats criminals’ seditions from 2016 through this January.

We all know that happened just as these latest crimes occurred. We know that it is illegal and open sedition. There is enough smoke to make us sure the evidence WAS there.

... and nothing will come out of it except hand wringing and consternation.

I’d even bet that the demon-crats will STEAL the Georgia Senate Seats the same way

… and the RINO, never trumpers will just whine about it

That’s always been the normal process. When the Demon-crats are in power the RINO’s milk the system for what is best for themselves while they talk-talk-talk.

This time the Demon-crats are different, and they will destroy the republic once and for all.

IF they in fact steal the two Georgia seats and take the senate, they will ram through everything they have ever wanted in record time.

By 2022 at the latest, the Socialist State of America will be a fact and we'll be fighting for our lives.

so basically when congress deliberates they could literally make PA not even count either way.
From what I understand President Trump will not get the PA Electoral College votes but Biden will lose them. The process can then set judicial president and be used as a formula to do the same in other states depriving Biden of the 270 votes needed.

Then each state legislature gets one and only one vote. Majority wins and there are more Republican state legislatures than Democrat ones.

President Trump read the fine print. By cheating the Swamp exposed its corruption and walked into a trap of their own making.... if the system works... if the rule of law still exists....?

Partly why I think things have quieted down. No reports of BLM protests. No reports of protests or riots in general. Staging ahead of Jan 21.

Problem is if trump gets things and wins the white house, everyone has everything to lose. First riot he can order live ammo be used and people meet a bad end. I think this realization is starting to occur to folks as the next protest could literally be the last.

I also have a suspicion that trump also realizes he could not get it and realizing that he needs to do damage control ahead of the transition to make things as difficult for the next occupant. Draining the swamp as it were so severely that it would take substantial effort to get appointments in that would pass scrutiny of the new republican controlled senate and house.

A scorched earth policy with a working president equals a situation where everything has to be rebuilt and vetted position wise would make for an extremely rough transition one where a president could literally spend the next four years fighting elected bodies just trying to get even a single thing done. Or if he gets in, it sets the state for a clean slate. A clean slate protocol as it were.

This realization is really starting to freak some out as there are sufficient actions still left that can be done that the minimum of the next 2-4 years could be spend on damage control alone.

Now factor in the presidents ability to mobilize a base and the fact that he has a very strong polarizing personality and the fact he can send a few tweets and keep the media occupied. Imagine four years of no biden but all trump in the news and a base that is swamping the latest obstacle creating a situation where the presidency is incapable of doing anything. This fact should scare the day lights out of folks as well as they realize they unleashed a kraken who is not limited by an office in what he can and can not do.

Now factor in one of the big media orgs goes belly up and say a trump backer buys it for pennies on the dollar and puts trump in charge and the ratings go so wild no one can compete coupled with the point above you would have a reformed media that can not be ignored as contracts in place prevent the banishment of that redone organization and then attempts to do so create a legal situation where attempts to void contracts end up being litigated so severely that things can not be stopped. This realization has to also scare many as it could not be stopped.

Then the move to parler. If say trump moves there and makes it soo popular and out of the media's control no one could stop the flow of information.

Now as far as the pipe dreams of suing him to oblivion. The problem is that as president he was exposed to substantial swaths of information they do not want to see light of day. This is typically why prior presidents are left alone. courts will tire of frivolous lawsuits and will end up by default dismissing with prejudice claims against him and forcing the filer to pay all related costs and adding a penalty fee for wasting time of all involved making it severely disincentivized to attempt further suits.

Hence the recent managerial shake up at the five sided building? Flynn's pardon?

It's only the end of November. Even if...? He still has at very least a month to go, at most four more years. Wouldn't you love to see his to do list?

I keep saying it - and so many refuse to believe it: you CANNOT stop lawlessness via civil means.

You CANNOT prevent corruption using a system they have thoroughly corrupted.

You CANNOT stop a coup via the courts, the legislatures or any form of institutional justice they have perverted.

And yet this is where everyone's hopes are firmly rooted.

Major Bewilderment is coming.

Would really not want to be on the President's s#it list right about now.

IVAR President Trump's administration has overseen the appointment of almost 200 new Federal Judges. President Trump also oversaw the appointments on the Supreme Court of:
Neil M. Gorsuch, Associate Justice,
Brett M. Kavanaugh, Associate Justice and
Amy Coney Barrett, Associate Justice.

If the De Facto Chief Justice: Clarence Thomas doesn't hate the very air Joe Biden breaths after what Biden put him thru during the confirmation process, Thomas should be canonized as a saint.

For the first time in over a hundred years the Supreme Court Justices have each take charge of Federal District Courts.

The court system might not be the obstacle you foresee.

OGM - what follows is NOT directed at you - but at the mentality of acceptance that is creeping into this country as we are being force fed the LIE of a biden victory.

yes he has - and in the very recent past there have been instances where these alleged "conservatives" have proven themselves to be NOT SO CONSERVATIVE after all. the most recent example within the last 48 hrs occurred in PA when a 3 judge panel - at least one of which was a TRUMP appointed republican - overturned a lower courts decision regarding the blatant election fraud.

DO NOT COUNT ON SCOTUS - you will be disappointed. Roberts will screw this for his handlers. several here warned that this election was NOT a sure thing -that we should NOT be overconfident because it would be stolen - and HERE WE ARE

I've said this before here - multiple times - and I am repeating it.

BLACKS and MUZZIES do not get FVKED WITH - and - they don't get FVKED WITH because they are not afraid to stand up for themselves. and when they DO stand up its with all they've got. "WE" on the other hand play nice and want to "talk it out" doesn't look to be working out very well to me.

these "judges" overturning cases where clear outright theft of this election has been demonstrated on bullshit "technicalities" are obvious examples of what's gone on in this country for DECADES in order to appease the anger that comes from these people and from the FEELZ crowd. time to get tired of justUS people - its time for the return of JUSTICE.

maybe you people didn't have playgrounds and bullies when you were kids. maybe you grew up different than some of us here did. there is only ONE WAY to handle a bully and that's EXACTLY what you have here.

DO NOT WILLINGLY ACCEPT YOUR FATE UNLESS YOU PLAN TO FULLY
ACCEPT THE FUTURE IT GUARANTEES YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN

OGM, I think he's saying that you can't fight lawlessness with laws.

that is EXACTLY what he's saying. stand or live in the dust under the boot of your "betters".

if you choose the latter you can look forward to watching your grandchild become the victims of holocaust as the Jews did in the 30's and 40's and the Cambodian killing fields under Pol Pot. there are other examples - but get the message and see the big picture - because this is no longer about some nebulous concept of "freedom". this is about SURVIVAL - YOURS and your PROGENY

Rules only apply to those concerned with following them...

... when the rule makers are corrupt and make/enforce laws that they exempt themselves from->

Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who posses it; and this I know, my lords: that where law ends, tyranny begins. - William Pitt

... well guess what, we are there!

This won't be beaten by playing under the rules that the tyrannical leftists make and break at will to their own benefit. The left stands on the very brink of stealing not just an election, but by doing so destorying the entire system of laws and replacing it with their form of godless communism. They have told us what they will do and it goes far beyond socialism and deep into a totalitian communist state.

Many here have already pointed it out, they have ignored the rules for multiple decades, yet each time the rest of us have acted like a spouse desperate to maintain a terrible marriage by tolerating their mates escalating atrocious behaviors and physical attacks against us.

It is past time to tolerate or try to compromise with the deranged and evil leftists! There can be no further compromises as they have past the point of any meaningful reconciliation.

The last election has shown that they no longer care about even the appearance of living under the compact that was forged to bind us together. They have openly destroyed any claim to use the laws that would bind us further to such lawlessness on their part.

IF they are allowed their latest evil acts, they will destroy our common house and persecute those who oppose them.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. - Thomas Jefferson

Even if somehow Trump and the republic prevails this treason of the left in corrupting the election through the clear frauds that is obvious to anyone with eyes to see …

.. it will be war that comes upon us all.

As we are finding out this morning, that is not the case.

When corruption is institutionalized - the courts will support the corruption, because that is how the 'system' works.

and that and street action is minimized and met with local force.

Outside of Rittenhouse and the Proud Boys.... there's more cowering from mobs than standing up to them. Plus the state has shown us that we are not allowed to defend ourselves from them.

Having said that hope is not much of a plan.

No. It is not. Yet for many - all is resting on it.

I couldn't agree more - with a portion of your observations. BUT the word does not say that we are give up and blow away . . . in fact it tells us to sell out cloak and buy a sword. in Ecclesiastes we're admonished to be aware of TIMES. there are many other examples of that in both OT and NT. we are NOT told to roll over and die in the face of obvious wrong and in acceptance of it.

The Good Lord has always sanctioned self-defense. That's what the sword is for.

We simply don't live in the time of "Go forth and kill all the Chaldeans." It would be SIMPLER if we were, but these are not those times.

indeed - so guess you missed the several threads here detailing the squad and their ilk calling for rounding up consrevatives and trump supporters? sending them to camps for "reeducation? you think we Christians" are exempt?

what is it OTHER THAN self defense when we can see with 100% certainty that in EVERY single instance of communist insurgency over the past century confiscation of weapons is followed by genocide - not occasionally - but EVERY SINGLE TIME.

WRONG - if you know they are coming for you AND THEY HAVE CLEARLY STATED THE SAME - it is 110% self defense. I don't have to wait until a leaking gas can on a pile of oil soaked rags spontaneously combusts to remove it from my garage in order to prevent a fire.

no one here is saying hunt the scum down today . . . but there ARE those - RIGHT HERE ON THIS BOARD - who have indicated THEY WON'T ACT. there are those here who, sitting out in a rural environment would sit back - in the complete absence of ROL - and refuse to remove those who they know are preying on the weak and elderly of their own community. that very thing has been discussed right here. and it was very recently discussed

that is self defense - regulators are SELF DEFENSE anything else is limp bullshit
