Prep Genrl Shelf life of Emergency protein Bars?

A lot of crap, I was wrong about them expiring in 2015, that's when they were manufactured, they expired in oct 2020.
This is the kind of ration bar to keep a person from starving, you know, when you will eat anything to fill your hungry belly.

Since they're already 2 years past their expiration date, I would open one to see if they are still any good. Depending on what kind of bars they are, I would probably toss them already, especially if I weren't planning on eating them anytime soon.

Judy, they're probably rancid --- that's been my experience. Your chickens will like them though.
I found a couple Cliff Bars in my kayak gear that was at least 4 years old. Keep in mind that this gear is stored in an unheated shed. They were in a small dry bag.
Opened one up, not moldy, passed the smell test, tasted a small chunk.
Seemed OK so I ate it. No adverse effects so a couple hours later ate the other one!
Don’t know if that makes it good- or overly processed with preservatives.
