I enjoyed one second after but I'm not sure it needs a sequel. I may wait for some of you to tell me if its worth spending money on.

Just ordered a hardcover copy from Amazon for $16.04, free shipping. I hope it is as good as the first book.

Showed up on my Kindle last night (pre-orders release at midnight Eastern). I'm about 1/3rd of the way through it and thoroughly enjoying it so far.

I have the hard cover. I've read about 1/3 of it too, and so far so good.

I read "One Second After" following all the recommendations of other readers on here. Honestly, I thought it was ok, but I thought I'd read a lot better from many of the fiction writers on this site. If you folks don't frequent members stories, especially the private section, I'd encourage you to do so. Unsung heros as far as I'm concerned. :)

Does anyone know if this is Black Mountain as in Black Mountain, North Carolina?

Nice to hear some good reports. Hopefully Amazon shipped mine today. I splurged and ordered the hard back book. I use mostly kindle and I too was hoping that the book was on Kindle Unlimited. I average 3 to 4 books a week so use Kindle a lot. But some books that are by exceptionally good authors, I like to have the hardback. The exception being James Rawles' books.
His first one was great, but each book he writes now is worse than the last one!

Yes.

Knowing the town fairly well made reading the first book that much more chilling for me.

Forstchen teaches at Montreat College, just up the mountain above Black Mountain.

Can any of you that finish it let us know if there will be a third book?
I was wondering if this could turn into a multi book series. I know how I would continue on from the first book and it would take several to tell it all.

Did for me as well, it kind of puts a new spin to DOOM porn when the book names your hometown in it.

I am halfway through it. I think it takes place a year after the end of One Second After. I feel like there was a lot that was missed in that intervening year as to how the community evolved. I find myself saying how or when did that happen a few times so far.

Finished it. Honestly I would get it from the library. Not a bad story but nothing like One Second After. Less of a post apocalypse survival and more of an action story. I was hoping for some more on how the community survived and got together. THs s a survivors vs the govt. Entertaining read but not worth the hardcover price.
