BLOG School Lockdown of my son's kids

At about 11:38 am this morning, my son's kids' (two in same school) high school went on lockdown. Three students were in a school bathroom posting on snapchat waving a gun around. Grandson texted my son, and he and wife tore up the road to get to the school. By the time they got there (about ten minutes), the place was surrounded by cops (and many parents) and the cops were IN the building. Twenty minutes or so later they had the three suspects in custody. According to the news article, the gun was an air-soft replica (of a Glock?). I have my doubts. The one with the gun was GTR. Kids were released to parents within 40 minutes, nobody was hurt. But my son & family are currently suffering from post-adrenalin rush, and planning to spend this evening with pizza and hugs.

Location: Clackamas, Oregon. Will never make big news for two reasons: 1) No bodies and weeping parents, and 2) doesn't fit the narrative. Nevertheless, been busy offering prayers of Thanks to God.

Mine were locked down at different schools over the years. I don't go to the school. I stay online monitoring news and texting the kids what I'm seeing from the outside.

When I was in high school 40 some odd years ago it was bomb threats. We went through so many of those blasted things from middle school on up that even the “bad” kids would cuss whoever did it as an interruption to the day.

tragedy. very little joy to be found anymore - regardless of where we look. from the rot and corruption of the septic tank inside the beltway to the insanity of state and local governments to the fiscal mismanagement and purposeful destruction of the mores and societal norms MOST here were BLESSED to have lived under as young people.

what we're experiencing is the result of a society that has forsaken its walk with the FATHER. what I wouldn't give for the peace and serenity of my youth and the 50's.

weep for your children and grandchildren. truth told - we've only just begun

Fortunately, the only scares I had in school were the ones where we had to hide under our desks. Scarey enough, but not up close and personal like nowadays.

BTDT.

Thank the Lord the kids are ok.

I remember when the bomb threats started. At the local high school the teachers were asked to return to the building to help look for the bomb. Ah the good ol' days.

I've posted it before, but when I was in high school (2600 students) there were no bomb threats and numerous long guns in the parking lot and nobody cared and nothing happened.

Maybe we need a Congressional investigation into what the manufacturer's changed that has made them so much deadlier these days.
