SCAM Scam on veterans

Today I heard one of my older relatives (Veteran) may have unknowingly been in the company of a scammer. Down at the VFW a schmoozer strikes up a conversation and listens to the old gentleman's stories drilling for personal information on other vets that could be used to scam them. Beware.

BTTT. The Schmoozer could talk the talk. This really made me mad. There have been some really nasty things done to our military and posted on this board over the years but this one hit home.

AFAIK this guy would have to be a veteran who served in a combat zone to be a member. I think admission is limited to members unless they have a public event. I had to produce my DD-214 to join the Legion, probably the VFW is the same.
