Russia, China to mull joint response to U.S. missile shield

MOSCOW – Amid escalating U.S.-Russia tensions, the Russian military said Tuesday it will cooperate with China on efforts to fend off a threat posed by the U.S. missile defense program.

Lt. Gen. Viktor Poznikhir of the Russian military’s General Staff accused the Pentagon of developing the shield as part of planning for a possible first nuclear strike. “The missile defense system considerably shifts the balance of offensive weapons, allowing the planning of a more efficient pre-emptive strike,” he said at a security conference in China.

Russia and China have frequently expressed concerns about the U.S. missile shield, but Poznikhir dropped any diplomatic reticence in his blunt speech that reflected a widening rift between Moscow and Washington.

“Russian military experts believe that the U.S. hopes to gain the capability to strike any region of the world, including Russia and China, with nuclear-tipped missiles with impunity,” he said. Poznikhir argued that Washington’s calculus would be to launch a first disarming strike and then rely on the missile shield to shoot down the remaining enemy missiles launched at the U.S. in a retaliatory strike.

He used an analogy of two gladiators armed with swords facing each other.

“If one of the gladiators takes up a shield, it will give him a marked advantage and make him think that he would be able to win, particularly if he strikes first,” he said. “What would another gladiator do? Naturally, he also would pick up a shield and also a longer and stronger sword. This is what happening now as a result of the U.S. missile deployment.”

Poznikhir said that both Russia and China have taken countermeasures in response to the U.S. missile defense program, but he didn’t elaborate.

He noted that Russia and China held drills earlier this year to simulate a joint action to fend off missile strikes under the protection of a missile defense system near its borders. Poznikhir added that Moscow and Beijing will conduct a similar exercise next year.

Like other Russian officials before him, Poznikhir shrugged off U.S. statements that the missile defense system is intended to fend off threats from North Korea and Iran. He argued that the planned U.S. system will include hundreds of missile interceptors — a capability far exceeding the need to deal with any potential threats from Iran and North Korea.

“Under the pretext of countering the North Korean and Iranian ‘missile threats,’ the system intended primarily for engaging Russian and Chinese missiles is being developed,” he said.

“The illusion of invulnerability and impunity under the missile defense umbrella would encourage Washington to take unilateral steps in dealing with global and regional issues,” Poznikhir said. “That can objectively lead to lowering the threshold of nuclear weapons use to pre-empt the enemy’s action.”

He added that governments in Europe and Asia which agreed to host elements of the U.S. missile shield had made their people “hostages of the U.S. unpredictable action.”

Russia, China unite in missile defense

Goal: Counter U.S. in Korea, Eastern Europe

By L. Todd Wood - - Tuesday, October 11, 2016

Russian and China are pooling their resources and will look for ways to jointly counter U.S. missile defense capabilities that are expanding in Eastern Europe and South Korea. The Pentagon stresses that the system is to be used only against “rogue” nations launching ballistic missiles. Russia doesn’t see it that way.

America says it is primarily deploying the system in Europe for defense against Iran and the system in South Korea is to be used against the North’s launch of a ballistic missile against U.S. interests. New installations have been recently stood up in Romania and Poland.

Lieutenant General Viktor Poznikhir of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff commented Tuesday in Xiangshan, China, during a security briefing, according to a transcript of his speech posted on the Defense Ministry’s website. “The upgrades aim to give Washington the ability to launch a nuclear strike with impunity.”

“We are working together on ways to minimize possible damage to the security of our countries,” Poznikhir said. “The illusion of invulnerability and impunity under the guise of missile defense will encourage Washington to make unilateral steps in dealing with global and regional issues. This could lead to a decrease in the threshold for using nuclear weapons to pre-empt enemy actions,” reports Bloomberg.

Mr. Putin's objective is to turn Russia back to the Soviet Union era. He has been working on this plan for 15 years. Let us see what he has done:

1. Formed a Russian youth group whose function is to follow him without question.

2. Forged a strong alliance with China, by providing them with knowledge to build naval ships and gave them the cruise missile technology.

3. Took advantage of Iran's sanctions, formed a new relationship with Iran and provided Iran with nuclear technology.

4. When the US went into Iraq, moved gas weapons from Iraq to Syria, and sold lots of military arms to Syria forming a very strong relationship with Syria's President.

5. Russia is currently talking to N. Korea about selling them new military jets. Additionally, The Russian government has announced plans to carry out a series of joint army, navy and air force exercises with North Korea.

6. Meanwhile, Russia has announced it is going to build 1000 miniature submarines. Russia has already been working furiously on modernizing its missiles and planes.

Now, you have to ask yourself why does Russia need 1000 miniature subs? Those subs are not a defensive posture. War is in the air, and Putin wants more power. Most of Europe can easily be overrun in a week, since they have no strong military presence strong enough to hold Russia back. So, who in the world is Russia after - the old World War II three strategic powers: Britain, France and the U.S. With them out of the way, Russia will have its way. Putin wants world dominance.

China, Russia Destroying ‘President-Divided’ US Global Dominance

By Polina Tikhonova on October 12, 2016 6:58 am in Politics

There has been a very concerning tendency in China’s rhetoric lately. So concerning that it seems China has finally made up its mind about its main ally in the global sphere – Russia or the United States.

Over the past few years, China has supported Russia’s views in about 60% of all global conflicts, the other 30% it stayed neutral and the remaining 10% its position aligned with the West.

Just browse through Monday and Tuesday’s headlines in the World Politics news section. Here’s what’s happening, here’s what’s trending:

-China publicly backs Russian position on Syria and Afghanistan
-China admits U.S. missile defense in Europe directly threatens Russia
-China and Russia will hold further anti-missile drills after U.S. THAAD decision

China has never been so straight-forward about its support for any country on so many issues within such a short period of time (within just 24 hours, in fact!).

China, who has always tried to remain neutral in its position on global conflicts (with a slight skew to Russia), has basically just declared, “We support Russia in crucial global conflicts and we want to help Russia put an end to America’s global dominance.”

President-divided U.S. is China’s chance to take down America

And it certainly doesn’t bode well for the United States, which is going through rough times on its own. When new President of the U.S. is elected, the country will be divided into two halves (that’s exactly what today’s Donald Trump vs Hillary Clinton polls suggest).

That’s exactly what Russia and China are waiting for: for that opportune moment when the United States is divided and weakened.

On Monday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has officially and publicly supported Russia’s position on the most crucial global issues, including Russian President Vladimir Putin’s position in the Syrian and Afghan conflicts.

Thus, Beijing, which cooperates “closely” with Moscow in the UN Security Council, has just officially joined Russia’s side on the most important global issues.

China wants Russia to keep killing Syrian citizens

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Baodong also added that Beijing shares similar views with Russia on regional issues, which is somewhat surprising considering the fact that China has had differences with Russia on some issues of regional interest.

But most importantly, China has just publicly said it supports Russia’s deadly airstrikes in Syria and wants its fellow non-western member of the UN Security Council to continue bombing civilians in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

Over the weekend, China’s ambassador to the United Nations, Liu Jieyi, said China was disappointed that the Russia-sponsored resolution on Syria didn’t get enough votes and was vetoed by the UN Security Council.

“China voted for the draft resolution and regrets that it was not adopted,” Jieyi said, as cited by ITAR-TASS, and called Russia’s resolution a “comprehensive, all-encompassing and balanced” document.

Beijing*was always one of those members who usually abstain from the vote when the UN Security Council voted on the Syria’s conflict, but now Beijing seems to have made up its mind and is ready to make a joint push with Russia.

China and Russia join forces to destroy U.S. Missile Shield plans

On Tuesday, Lt. Gen. Viktor Poznikhir of the Russian military’s General Staff accused the U.S. of developing the missile shield as part of planning for a nuclear strike.

But Poznikhir was quick to note that Russia and China now joined forces to prevent the U.S. from expanding its missile-defense network. The two nations have long expressed their concerns over the U.S. missile shield, saying that it’s a threat to their military assets.

But now that Russia and China see that the U.S. will be able, according to Poznikhir, to launch a nuclear strike against Moscow and Beijing “with impunity,” the two nations see the need to join their forces.

Speaking at a security forum in Xiangshan, China, Poznikhir insisted both Moscow and Beijing are “working together on ways to minimize possible damage to the security of our countries.”

Russia is concerned that there are weapons in the U.S. defense system that, if launched by Washington from a warship in the Baltic Sea, could easily intercept ballistic missiles from Russia before a nuclear warhead is fired.

“The illusion of invulnerability and impunity under the guise of missile defense will encourage Washington to make unilateral steps in dealing with global and regional issues. This could lead to a decrease in the threshold for using nuclear weapons to preempt enemy actions,” Poznikhir added.

Russia and China announce 2017 anti-missile drills

It sure seems like a new era in the military cooperation between Russia and China to tackle U.S. global dominance and intimidate American allies. The two nations have also announced they will hold joint anti-missile drills in 2017.

It was the U.S. and South Korea’s joint plans to deploy American anti-missile system in South Korea that angered Moscow and Beijing.

And even though Washington and Seoul claim they are deploying U.S. Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system to battle any military threats coming from North Korea and its erratic leader Kim Jong-un, neither Russia nor China believe that the THAAD systems will be actually used against North Korea.

Moscow and Beijing worry that the THAAD systems will be used by the Americans to compromise their security and thus they are launching new drills in 2017.

China and Russia want their lollipop back..

Both Russia and China’s actions resemble that of a schoolgirl who lost her lollipop and is now accusing her classmate, who is more beautiful, more successful and much richer than her, and cries that the classmate had stolen her precious lollipop.
And now these two schoolgirls are boosting their strategic partnership through military cooperation in order to take down that richer classmate.

Beijing has long accused Washington of attempting to strengthen China’s Asian neighbors in an attempt to prevent China from rising. And the South China Sea conflict has only proved that there are tremendous differences between China and the U.S.

Russia, meanwhile, feels that NATO wants to eliminate Russia’s sphere of influence in Europe by constantly expanding to the Baltic States and moving its weapons closer to the Russia. borders.

Yes, Russia and China seem like they can make a great team and finally avenge the United States to take back their precious lollipop. But can Washington stop them, especially when it’ll be weakened and divided by November’s Presidential Election?
