I found a beautiful rose bush in town. 5-6ft tall and 6-8ft wide. Soft pink bloom 2-3" across with a very tight eye, flouribunda spray. June bloomer. A very rich, spicy scent. ( Could almost knock you out.) I think it may be an old bourbon rose. Just have to have.
I talked to the owner and its "sure, take all you want." So in a few days it will have stopped blooming, and I'm off to take cuttings that I hope will become shrubs for my yard. I will have clippers, rotone, and a bucket of damp sand in tow.
I've never tried to start old roses from cuttings before. Any suggests or experiences or even pit falls that might help me be successful?
