Robert F. Kennedy Jr. discusses son Conor’s secret Ukraine military enlistment

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. opened up about having his son Conor Kennedy voluntarily head into a war zone not knowing when — or if — he’ll be back.

The 28-year-old blue blood traded the luxurious life of Hyannis Port, Mass., and the Hamptons for the trenches by bravely heading into combat for Ukraine amid Russian President Vladimir Putin’s unprovoked war.

“He felt that he shouldn’t be arguing about it unless he was willing to have skin in the game and take his own risk,” Kennedy said on “The Megyn Kelly Show” of his son’s decision to go to the war-torn country.

Kennedy said his son signed up for the Foreign Legion at the Ukrainian Embassy and was a drone pilot before he was promoted to a “machine gunner.”

“He didn’t have any military experience and kind of talked his way into the unit,” he added. “He’s been in firefights, mainly nighttime, and a lot of artillery fights with the Russians.”

Conor Kennedy — the grandson of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy — fought anonymously, telling only one American he was going over to fight, and one person on the ground overseas his real name.

“He had a job for a law firm, a really good law firm in Los Angeles, and I was looking forward to him living with me for the summer,” he said of his son’s initial plans.

When probing him further about Conor Kennedy’s plans, his son said, “I’m not going. I want to talk to you. I don’t want you to ask me what I’m doing.”

“I was like, ‘Um…,'” he explained. “And he said, ‘I will explain it to you at some point, but I do not want you to ask me now, and if you could just respect that it would mean a lot to me.’ So I did.”

After Conor Kennedy was no longer active on his phone, Robert Kennedy said he and his wife actress Cheryl Hines began to investigate where he could be. The pair searched for clues that could give them an idea of his whereabouts.

The worried father stumbled upon his son’s credit card bills.

“The last one we saw was in Poland and then there was one in Ukraine and then they just stopped,” he remembered. “He didn’t tell anyone where he was going or what he was doing.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky set up the International Legion in February asking foreigners to help fight Russia. According to a report, 20,000 people from 52 countries signed up within a week.

Robert Kennedy said Conor Kennedy “came back a couple of days ago.”

“I flew out to the East Coast to meet him and I heard about what he done,” Kennedy said. “I’m very glad I didn’t know what he was up to.”

Conor Kennedy announced earlier this month that he served in Ukraine, taking to Instagram to pen a poignant caption about his experience on the ground.

“I was deeply moved by what I saw happening in Ukraine over the past year. I wanted to help,” he wrote in part. “When I heard about Ukraine’s International Legion, I knew I was going, and I went to the embassy to enlist the next day.”

He also lauded his fellow warriors and the Ukrainian civilians.

“The people I met were the bravest I have ever known. My fellow legionnaires — who came from different countries, backgrounds, ideologies — are true freedom fighters. As are the citizens I knew, many of whom have lost everything in their long struggle against oligarchy, and toward a democratic system. They know this isn’t a war between equals, it’s a revolution.”

AND he has learned things that he could learn in NO OTHER school.

Hemingway and Larnaca come to mind.

Likely to be some more radical than his Grandfather. Though his grampa was more considered the "Thoughtful" brother.

Have to keep something of an eye on the kid...

These "experiences" tend to generate interesting results. Not always bad ones.

Political slant aside, at least he fought for something.

Ok, after reading more and seeing the pic, color me skeptical.

Just cant believe anything you read anymore...

An average enlisted US military recruit aspiring to be a "machine gunner" is 18.
And average US military officer competes 4 years of college to become an officer at age 22.

He's 28 and did not have any military experience . . . which tells me he never joined the "US" military.

While he may be brave, going to war to fight for another country does not make him a patriot.
And bragging about it does not make his father qualified for the White House
. . . unless you are a Social Justice Warrior.

Yes, it would be a problem for me. Parents can't be responsible for their adult children. But I think it gives an indication of how he was raised and sheds some light on the person Robert Kennedy, Jr.

I doubt the whole story. He may have been in the UKR territory. But I doubt he was a drone pilot. That's the cool guy thing all the liberal democrat (communist youth) kids could imagine themselves doing. Then upping the ante to machine gunner for some whar story cred. Doubt it again. This kid is a high level pawn in the Biden/Deepstate/Globalist operation to keep the UKR money laundering, child sex slaving, and bioweapon manufacturing stronghold in business.

Yeah, he was "fighting" in Ukraine all right. Every pic I've found of him looks like a photo shoot with clean uniform and some kind of something that says "don't shoot me" like the blue tape he has on in this one. UN? That's a pretty good stubble shave he is rocking.

This bozo dated Taylor Swift when he was 18 and she was 22. He's been arrested as a protestor of the Keystone Pipeline. Granted he was about the same age as when he dated Swift but it does say something about his politics.

This is how he described his time there:

"Going in, I had no prior military experience and wasn't a great shot, but I could carry heavy things and learned fast," he added. "I was also willing to die there. So they soon agreed to send me to the northeastern front.

Elsewhere in his post, Kennedy said that his time in Ukraine "wasn't long," but that he "saw a lot and I felt a lot."

No one has really determined how long he was there but even he says "it wasn't long" so someone needs to stop bragging about it.

Kneepads without grass stains - hard to imagine. Especially for someone who "hits the dirt" as part of his job performance.

I suspect Conor is being mentioned now as "trial balloon" on RFKjr "survivability" in the Democratic Primary.

To call RFKjr a "dark horse candidate" is to severely overstate his chances.

More like "Xs for eyes Candidate."

Imagine Spain in 1937 and those who enlisted in the Republican "international brigades". If you use that template, whether he saw the elephant or was a propaganda prop, it makes in a way some "sense".

I thought the blue colors were odd, thinking Ukraine soldiers wore yellow.

So checked it out:

Mar 4, 2022 · Ukraine soldiers wear yellow (correct me if I’m wrong), Russian soldiers wear a range of colors, some wear blue, some reflective. Is this for the sake of recognizability?

And in picture after picture of Ukraine soldiers they ALL had yellow arm bands.

Now ask yourself why is he wearing blue?

it was Oct 2022.
it was 6 months ago . . . unless you think Kennedy woke up last week, farted, and thought . . . hey, I should run for president.
Um. Conflate a "citizen of the world" with a Presidential Run of a "Kennedy Wannabe?"

The two are necessarily unrelated but "convenient."

And certainly indicator of how it will go should the office be achieved.

Face it - Kennedys are "connected." The only question is - "are they ENOUGH CONNECTED?"

I would say on the basis of RFKjr's "tilting at windmills" of Government/Industry collusion and personal medical rights previously as "he's not enough."

Kennedy is generally "high minded" - at least when its convenient. He has done a lot of good environmentally and probably now with his Fauci book public health/individual rights wise. Some have even considered a Trump/Kennedy/President/VP combination as a way to beat the Democrat machine.

And - the "New World Order" may look upon Kennedy favorably - but I think not favorably enough. And those members of the NWO locally even less so.

Individual rights and domination don't mix.

I don't find this too shocking. RFK Jr. may say some things we like to hear, but he's still a liberal. And that may go double for his son, who may be even more to the left for all we know.

And we know how the left has been swept up in the "let's go fight for Ukraine" hysteria. This is a young, idealistic, wealthy kid who's following the spirit of the age among his peers. As has been mentioned, this is not a new phenomenon.

Please. I pay mine online, and I'm sure a millennial/GenXer like him does as well. No one could 'stumble upon' them unless they hacked into my acct or were given my password info.

This whole thing reeks of manipulation to draw in the non MAGA right voters as he has with the vaccine outrage. Looks like Conor is setting himself up for a political career as well.

My 4th Great Grandfather was 19 when he joined the American Revolution. His name is on the muster roll at Valley Forge.
My 3rd Great Grandfather was 28 when he fought at Gettysburg for the Union.
The other 3rd Great Grandfather was 36 and fought on the other side.
My father was a "machine gunner" in the tail of a US Army B-24 over Germany in WWII when he was 23.
My step father never told anyone what he did in Vietnam.
I have my own set of military accomplishments.
My son was a "machine gunner" in the 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq and Afghanistan when he was 23.
Hell, even my daughter was a "machine gunner" in a guard tower in Iraq with the 3rd ID in Iraq when she was 23 and her disabled veteran license plates are free.

When they say that a 28 year old never joined the US Military but decided instead to go to Ukraine and protect and defend them . . . I am thinking there are some people that need a reality check.

Thanks for the genealogy of your family. Most of mine were Dragoon/Calvary did have one great uncle who was an SGT over a machine gun emplacement during WWI, during the Muse-Argonne Offensive.

But sharing your family line about some serious battle warriors was great and comparing that to someone wearing the wrong colors during their employment in Ukraine. To bad they just didn't decide to sit on the board of some energy company in Ukraine.

Owner's Great-Grandfather "bought" his way out of the Civil War. But he was wealthy having done "Field Engineering" of cotton gin installations in the Deep South prior to and during the Civil War (yes - trade continued between North and South outside of the war zones.)

A "Great Uncle" was an engineer for the USS Roanoke after it's conversion to an Ironclad.

Owner's "other branch" Great-Grandfather was a White officer in the Massachusetts 54th (Negro Battalion.) 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment - Wikipedia He did "bring his politics where his life might be laid" - but fortunately did survive to die later as an older man on a boat trip to "The Holy Land." His "papers" from his successful career currently exist in the University of MIchigan archive stacks.

War takes all kinds. Including those who stay home and plow the fields.

Bright yellow tape on a CAMOUFLAGED uniform kinda-sorta defeats the whole camouflage motif idea, don't you think.....HOWEVER not getting shot by your own side does have it's advantages. Then again...highlighting yourself to your enemy is not a good idea either. VERY CONFUSING WAR over there.

Yeah extremely.

1) without a "uniform" you are not afforded the Genevea Convention "Rules" for POW's and combatants.
2) modern uniforms are all camo.
3) so how do you tell one from another? Wear arm bands.
4) which intern cancels the camo

5)result: Live in a Ukrainian foxhole (LOL) with a Russian armband. Momma didn't raise no dummy.

Nothing that says he's worn that outfit for more than the few minutes it took to take the picture...

The only thing with any visible "wear" are the bottom plates of the mags stuffed into the front of his plate carrier. Heck. The finish on that pistol looks box new....

It does appear to be a REMF battle rattle photo.

Switching between those two jobs seems hard to believe.

What kind of commitments do they allow?
By the month?
Half year?
