OP-ED Robert E Lee after the Civil War

Since this is the kind of information that our Marxist THUGS like to destroy, I thought I would post it here, so it won't vanish down the ole memory hole by our thought police.
For the record, Robert E Lee was the GREATEST AMERICAN PATRIOT for not breaking up the Army of Northern Virginia and sending it out into the wilds of the south to engage in partisan warfare against the Union forces. If he had done that, the Civil War would still be going on today.

Owner is a graduate of a military college. According to him they study Lee. At least then. Owner is a "norther" but he has the utmost respect for Lee.

Did owner ever come across N. B. Forrest? I've read he was studied by Romel, Patton, and Storm'n Norman.

But yeah Lee was a real honest to goodness Gentleman.

Thanks for putting that up DD.

IIRC, Nathan B. was quite the equestrian. Had connections with the KKK, but later disavowed any involvement. I think he had second thoughts about the violence.

Yes, he was quite a human - and definitely one with his mount.

I looked on with dismay as his statue was recently "moved."

I'm sorry to have to inform you Gen Forrest went through 29 horses during the war. All of which died while on duty, having been killed while Forrest was atop them. However, his favorite lived through the war. Sorry I can't think of his name, but was a gift to him from the people of Rome, GA.

He was a stud that hated "Blue Bellies". After the war Gen Forrest lived in Memphis, TN, and had him hitched to Forrest's wife's buggy, for a stroll around town. Standing on a street corner was a group of Memphis police. He charged the police, and scattered them. Nothing Mrs. Forrest could do would stop him. After he scattered them he was his normal gentle self. The conclusion everyone came to was since the police were wearing Blue uniforms he mistook them for Yankee's. A bona fide war horse to the core.

IIRC, Lee a few years after the regrettably- outcomed War of Northern Aggression said that if he'd known how Reconstruction was going to go, he' d have ordered Confederate troops to fight to the last man. I wish he had do so, as the South might still have won independence.

Yeah he was a gentleman. But that was NOT what was needed at the time.I have always thought Forrest was the better general, and if he had been in charge things would have turned out better for the south. There would be no north,it would all be south, south of Canada.

I appreciate you using the correct name for that conflict. There was NOTHING civil about it.

Don’t let the Piss Ants get you down…
Interesting time that you brought this up, my son and I had a discussion on Saturday about this very topic. Being younger and angry at the state of this nation, he doesn't understand why the Confederates didn't disband and make everything below the Mason-Dixon line into our version of Afghanistan.

I explained to him that Lee was a Patriot and a Gentleman. He felt they had lost the war and now needed to rejoin the United States.

FWIW, I concur that General Lee had more honor and integrity than any of the critics across society, government an the military could ever think of having.
