Anyone pre-ordered and anxiously awaiting its arrival? I ordered it a couple months ago. I played the “one hour demo” over the weekend. It’s amazing looking.

Biomutant and Mechwarrior are coming out later this month. RE Village is a distant third, if that.

In the meantime, I have been enjoying 7 Days to Die, the greatest zombie apocalypse simulator ever. Base building, store looting, horde blasting fun! :D

Years ago when my kids were...well, kids, we used to play Resident Evil 3 in a game cube...I think?

Anyway, we lived in a remote part of northern Montana and for hours a day, in the long -45 F winters, we’d play.

The kids all still love talking about those times, but I’ll tell you what, the realism of the new Resident Evil games today...wow...

I wouldn’t even think about wanting to playing them drunk or high! (Not that I do that!)

Again, shmups aren’t my fav.
Yeah, I read that. You may not want in on MechWarrior, but Biomutant has quite a story going for it. Think "Kung Fu Panda" but with a raccoon sort of thing instead.

As for 7 Days to Die, shmupping is just PART of the fun. Build, farm, loot, load your own ammo...build and fly a gyrocopter. It's a complete zombie apocalypse simulation.

There is a TON of YouTube gameplay video on 7 Days to Die out there. This is one of the better ones, I'd say.

I remember Resident Evil 3. "The Mercenaries" game you unlocked was a lot of fun.

I watched the trailer for Biomutant last night. I’m not into furry little cartoon creatures either. I own 7 Days but haven’t played it much.

You bought 7 Days for a reason. It's a great game; I prefer it with a gamepad--played it on Xbox before it became a lost cause--but that's a personal style point.

Before what became a lost cause? The Xbox or the game?

7 Days to Die on Xbox One. It's a fairly long story involving issues between the developer and the publisher, but 7 Days to Die on Xbox One hasn't updated for years. I believe it's stuck somewhere around Alpha 12, where the PC version is up to Alpha 19.

Xbox One definitely isn't a lost cause; it'll have games coming out through this year at last report, likely because Xbox Series X is STILL next to impossible to find.

7DtD is, apparently about to be updayed and released for consoles. The situation with the Publishers has apparently been resolved.

That said there are questions-will people who bought the original for console with no updates have to scrap their game and buy new or buy the updates and so forth.

I have a couple of Yootoobers who play it and I watch them. It looks fun but certainly not realistic, especially since you "Somehow" start some years after the Zombie Apocalypse-in your underwear and have to start with a wood clud and stone knives and shit. Mt Survivalist Brain screams "BULLSHIT!" then add in the getting hungry or dying of thirst every three minutes.

Seems the whole Genre of Independent survival games does that exact same Shctick.

Again, it'd be a fun game but not more realistic than Space Imnvaders.

As far as Villsge, not sure-loos interesting but, like a lot of games set in a Apocalypse/Scary/Survival-they tend to think darkness and it always being foggy is a great way to add to the game Feel but it really messes up people with vision issues.

Take Days Gone-would love to play but, it seems that even in daytimes there is an overall foggy and shadows and such are darker than it would be in Meatworld so I rarely see the Bad Guys in time.

No, not all that realistic. You can make loot respawn, for example, and build a pickup truck from scratch with about seven key parts: A chassis, a set of accessories, an engine, and four wheels.

I believe the "you start in your underwear" part is actually explained in the plot, though; I've seen some of those playthroughs too and they mention something about being robbed, which is likely a familiar experience in such an environment.

However, it DOES get you thinking, and that can't hurt. Like about how useful a small motorbike might be, post-Whatever.

I agree Sat. There’s a game that I could really get into called Visage (it appears to be the heir apparent to the “Playable Trailer” that was released a few years ago for PS4, then the game itself was scrapped - see below.) But its very dark. I can’t play it at all in the daytime. Can’t see a thing.

P.T. (initialism for "playable teaser") is a first-person psychological horror video game developed by Kojima Productions, under the pseudonym "7780s Studio", and published by Konami. The game was directed and designed by Hideo Kojima, in collaboration with film director Guillermo del Toro.

Released for the PlayStation 4 on 12 August 2014 as a free download on the PlayStation Network, P.T. served primarily as an interactive teaser for the game Silent Hills, a cancelled installment in the Silent Hill series. After the cancellation, Konami removed P.T. from the PlayStation Store and eliminated the opportunity to re-install the game, a decision that later spawned criticism, fan efforts to allow P.T. to be re-downloaded,[1] and fan remakes of the game.

P.T. received critical acclaim for its direction, visuals, story complexity, and its supernatural horror tension build, while its puzzles drew mixed responses.

You can also fold your Truck up and stuff it in your pocket if you want to ride your bicycle but need the storage.

I've never seen an explaination for Starting in your Underwaer and they all do it-7DtD, Stranded Deep, The Forrest and so on. In some cases, sure, the basics like a wood clud and stone tools makes some sense, in others, the player walks past cars, buildings and debris of all shapes and types and cannot make a Steel Post club or a Pike? Grind out a leaf spring machette on the pavement? Nah. Fun to play but too much Cognizant Dissonance for me to believe.

Saved, to glorify God.
After reading all this, I am eternally grateful that Yahtzee, 2D pool, Hearts, Freecell and Majong (all played solitaire) completely satisfy my "gaming" urge.

Today’s games are effectively interactive movies. I don’t see that as a bad thing.

Exactly.

Yahtze and such is fine but it gives you the choice of one ending Win/Lose.

A well-done game usually has more than a single ending, multiple choices in your Adventure, really good ones have some great characters and you can do things you will never do in Meatworld from riding in the Old West, Reliving the 1920's or a War, Going into Space and exploring, Sailing a Pirate ship...No real limits.

Oh, recent Release or maybe I'm watching a Pre-release is called Chernyoblelite.

Weird and very interesting game with great graphics.
