Canning tomatoes purchased at amish farm. Was in mountain home yesterday. Limited menus at burger joints. Higher prices for the mom and pop owned ones due to suddenly increased supply costs. Some restaurants ignoring the mask to get in rule. Others religiously enforcing. Lots of empty shelves at Wally world.
Had a Male Karen in store last week upset because his was only mask. Couple Karen's screeching in groc store because everyone ignored aisle arrows. Staying out of all stores as much as possible but I hate shopping and avoid it until I have to.

Why is it “very very important”? No, it’s not.
Dennis is right! In another life time I spend far too much time around people who did not use deodorant. You would be amazed at how the gag reflex just goes away after a few days of exposure to the smell.

Amazing what the human body can adapt to.

Have had people bleed on me and vomit on me. Only thing that made my stomach actually role was a drunk who spent a few days locked in a hotel room. Body odor is the worst. During summer months have to deodorize the air at work thanks to shoppers who have lost all contact with soap and water.
So you think slathering on a chemical is a substitute for a shower? I sure don’t.

So, the local meat shop ad just came out. Not too bad...think I will stop in there tomorrow and pick up a few things. The ten lb. lean burger bags - $4.99/lb. , bulk Italian or Breakfast sausage - $1.99/lb. , country-style ribs - $1.69/lb. , seasoned chicken leg quarters (those guys are masters with a spice rub - BBQ ready) - $.89/lb. and their nice little bacon wrapped beef tenderloins - 4/$12.00.

That's great meat pricing, especially on the burger and the leg quarters. In Norwood, MO, I recently found 10-lb boxes of 1/3 lb 90/10 (I really prefer 80/20 or 85/15 for mo' flavor) for $19 and thought I'd hit it bigly as 80/20 is still up in the $6/lb range in Ava. Ava does have frozen thighs for $0.89/lb in 5-lb bags, which is a great deal as well. Their steak pricing on everything but T-bones - but especially sirloin - isn't bad at all. The prices are mostly in the $7-$10 range instead of the $10-$16 I've seen in a rare trip to Springfield recently.

Plenty of stuff in the store but expensive as it can be, except for the surges of certain produce when a big load hits the distribution centers. Exp: pallets of watermelon out right now and it's selling quickly with the heat, but pricing isn't all that great, seems to me. Just have to watch: 2-day sales to clear out things like big bunches of grapes or strawberries happen when the store coolers get overloaded.

Try goodrx.com - different prices at different pharmacies. Price varies but will give discounted price at most of your local pharmacies. I get anywhere from 10% to 50% of what the copay alone would be with Medicare Advantage. They have an EZ to use app for your phone. You will have to arrange with your Dr. to call in the Rx to the pharmacy you choose or get a hard copy of the Rx to go shopping with. No other Medicare or co-insurance required - it's a stand alone deal and free to use.
Wife and I switched to optima RX mail order. Saves about 125.00 a month on our drug bill. 90 day supply and automatic refills no mistakes and friendly service. Our local pharmacy messed up all the time and was expensive. Not trying to run your life but it might save you a few bucks if you take a lot of medicine. We are happy with them.

Hubby needed glasses after cataract surgery. They did not have any frames he liked, so he went back after 3 more weeks. Less frames on display than before. They are having trouble getting frames. Hubby did take his old pair and they could get them. So that will be taken care of when they come in.

Great nephew was having a birthday. Dollar General was getting low on cards. Never seen that before.

Ribeyes were $16.79 a pound at our Harps in Arkansas. We usually buy chuck eyes because they are cheaper and come from the end of the ribeye. But they are hard to find.

60% of the world thinks so. They also don't use TP. Think of that next time you shake hands.

I used to work with a lot of tcs folks and it was not unusual to run into the guys at costco with them only wearing a wifebeater tee shirt and a pair of boxers. Turns out not wearing pants is not unusual in india and the custom seems to have followed them here.

And sometimes due to the smell is was uncomfortable to ride with them in the elevators

And bringing this back to food - today is the last day of the weekly save-a-lot sale where they had t-bones for $5.99 lb. This week the t-bones were cheaper then their hamburger.

Suburban Memphis here. Went into store for quick run - very little meat. Big display of cheap hot dogs to take up some of the space in the meat display case. Big display of pigs feet, too! Only hamburger was 5 pound Rolls of 73/27 ground beef - $24.98 !

Almost no chicken or pork.

But I did get a good price on the canned green beans that I was after - 50 cents per 15 ounce can.

This was aa medium sized, locally owned grocery.

People skipping deoderant just make me think of dirty hippie comments from times past, I was too young to realize why.

Somewhat locally you mostly need to keep your eyes open. Hamburger of whatever percentages might cost more than steak or roast in solid form. You can usually ask em to grind stuff for you or do it yourself or just cut it up at home and leave it in bigger pieces and go from there.

I skipping hitting groceries on the last set of off days cause I got stuff I need to eat for leftovers and more in fridge coming due and overall prices may be up but as a single guy I am cruising along with the concept if one thing is higher I go to see if something substitute is lower.

With hamburger higher than roast or steak, yeah I got some eating to do.

Hamburger here is outrageous! The package I usually buy at Aldi is the 73/28 and it runs from $12-13, this past week it was $18. Needless to say I bought a much smaller package. I do still have venison but I usually cut it with cheap burger for the fat. Guess that won't be happening now. I did notice that everything seems well stocked now. I even found lysol at WM this past week. Except canning jars.....those were completely wiped out.

Hit the grocery on Saturday. Yeast was the only thing not avail at all. Flour was limited to one bag per customer. Eggs and paper goods were limited to 2. Egg prices have certainly jumped. Meat was pretty well stocked. Only ground burger avail was the square organic or grassfed packages. Different company than what they normally carry. This one was fairly local from Vermont. I grabbed a couple because we are out of the ground venison. They usually carry stuff from Australia. Pasta was a little thin but plenty avail.

Getting ready to move so we have been shopping sparingly. Went to DG yesterday.
Zero bread.
Milk and eggs plenty.
Lots of empty spots on shelves.

Yeast, organic flour and tp are still in short supply in N. Ga. at Walmart.
Meat pretty well stocked, and the trick to getting large packages of decent tp is to hit Dollar General once a week after their truck rolls in.
They don't seem to have any problem with supply.
Sam's, on the other hand, is still having supply issues. Meat counters are sparse.

No. But it is torture to deal with stinky customers whether it is BO or a full bottle of very old Charlie perfume. I have thought about putting a wash cloth and a bar of soap in the bag with their purchases.

I remember a saleslady at Nordstroms in Anchorage mentioning that they all hated when the Russians came in, because as a rule they don't use deodorant and the clothes they tried on would need to be sent out for cleaning afterwards.

There's a couple of Indian (dot) guys who work for our son. They would skip taking a bath for days. DS pulled them aside one day, and told them that if they didn't get home and take a bath, he was going to get a couple of other guys together, and give them one. The stench was becoming unbearable.

These same guys had other uses for their bathtub other than taking baths. They bought goats, and slaughtered them right their in the tub in their apartment. Chickens, too. DS had to make them stop that, too. I don't think he ever had the courage to ask them if they used toilet paper. Seems these guys had no concept of American life when they came over from India.

Got back from town (N Mn) a bit ago. Stopped at the meat store for their weekly specials...all fine and lovely. Meat cases packed with anything your little heart could desire, and the guys cutting up more when they had a minute away from customers. The smells in that place...heaven. If you've ever walked in to a real German grocery store (at least when I did back in the day) - garlic, spices, sausage, smoke. Nirvana.

Then the local regional grocery store for just the on-sale Diet Coke, a few veg and MORE Vidalia onions - because this time of year, I eat a LOT of GOOD onions after the winter drought. They are a food group. Anyway, the place looked great. Bursting at the seams with TP. Haha!

Ah... another sweet onion lover! I usually grab a few when they first start showing up, but wait until our WallaWallas in the garden start bulbing for my real binge. Nothing like chopped sweet onions in cottage cheese on a hot August day!

I used to love onion sandwiches but they were one of the many things I had to give up after I had my teeth pulled.

My brother once told me that "onions kill germs that cause bad breath". This was a joke based a TV commercial from long ago about some product, mouthwash or tablets maybe, that made that claim.

I used to tell people that onion breath is NOT bad breath if you love onions!

So, this was a shocker for me. I met the George Costanza of food. We don't eat ice cream. Both hubs and I are mildly lactose intolerant, and we're just not the kind of people that keep ice cream in the house. But, while we were out over the weekend, we had a hankerin' for a root beer float. So I popped into our little local small town grocery store to buy a half-gallon of vanilla ice cream and some root beer. Only... I couldn't find half-gallons. They apparently don't make them anymore. The entire ice cream freezer section seemed to have suffered from a case of shrinkage. Everything was now a quart and a half.

Honestly, I'd rather just pay more than having the miniature sized version of everything. They aren't fooling us. It's nice psychology, tho. We ended up buying two versus one, which probably happens with every product that has shrunk over the last several years. Well played, food manufacturers. Well played.

They've been quart and half sized since 2008.

Geez... that shows you how often I’ve bought ice cream then. I did also notice the faux crab meat packages shrunk by at least 25% since the last time I bought it, which was probably sometime back in the fall. I didn’t have enough for my recipe when I ordered it from online grocery pick-up.

The crab meat packages here shrunk about eight or so years ago, OC complains about the size of the potato chip bags that seem to shrink annually now.
