Holy smokes- I don't know what is happening but I wanted to get 4 6 packs of the Diet Coke bottles before the sale ends today (4/ $10). I never waste a trip to the store so grabbed a few other things: green beans, sourdough bread, stuff for Thanksgiving, etc. I noticed as soon as I walked in how crowded it was. Wow! It could have been the day before Thanksgiving. I went around and got a few things.

The Coke rep was there stocking shelves. There were no Diet Cokes so I asked her. Will you be stocking those? She said NONE came in on this shipment but let me check the display up front. I had already checked and saw none but she came back with 8 packs. I thanked her profusely and took the 4 I needed. While I was standing there waiting for her I noticed the ridiculously long check out line. Most carts full. Line was at least 10-12 carts deep. I had to get one more thing from the frozen aisle so went there and that line was all the way down the aisle! So I got in line. I didn't even realize until I was almost up front that it was the express lane. Thank God no one complained and I helped bag my stuff to keep things moving.

The store was so crowded it was stressful. I won't be going in person again for a long time. I don't care what I need. I was literally almost about to have a panic attack.

When the stores are packed, I try to get in and out asap.

There's a lot of speculation on social media that things are going to go sideways on the 4th, and people are stocking up ahead of the election. I have a few things to pick up Friday evening and then we're done for a few weeks... just to see what happens. Could be a nothing burger here in central Iowa, it could be full on anarchy.

I went early this morning to the Walmart grocery store the next town over. It wasn't packed, but busy. I had a short list, but most of the items were out. I did manage to get a package of toilet paper. I didn't really need it, but I grabbed it because other stores in the area have seriously slim pickings in that area. Major holes everywhere. Produce and the bread aisle looked good, and I didn't look at the meat department. Canned vegetables and meats were almost wiped out. No one was stocking in those areas.

Next stop was the Kroger. It looked like somebody had predicted snow. Lots and lots of holes. Toilet paper and paper towels were gone except for 3 or 4 packages of each. No displays for them anywhere else in the store. The whole aisle was almost empty. Cleaning products were very low, but they were stocking Tide laundry detergent, so at least your clothes could be clean. Again, the canned vegetables were very thin as well as beans and fruit. They were also low on flour ,sugar and corn meal. Frozen vegetables were looking a little ragged around the edges, but they were stocking the ice cream section. Plenty of eggs, but milk was hit or miss. I wanted half gallon jugs for the freezer, and that was a no.
I did manage to find some CoQ10. It was a B1G1 deal and I had a coupon. No CoQ10 at Walmart.

At the smaller locally owned store they had obvious holes for the first time. The produce department was looking thin as were the canned vegetables and beans. Canned meats were very hard hit, with only off brands left. I did manage to get the half gallons of milk, but not the buttermilk that I had been searching for all day. No buttermilk at any of the stores I went to today. Very strange.

Across the board I am seeing less on the shelves this time, from 3 weeks ago.

Went to the local Safeway in North Denver CO this morning for some things that Kroger was out of.....

Got everything on the list (plus more TP). What was interesting was the talk with the checkers that I've known for 22 years. If you need it, get it now because they are probably going to lock down Colorado again.

Seeing large holes in stock again - mainly eggs, milk and produce (but the produce at Safeway has been below par for quite awhile now). Meat was iffy, especially beef, but we're picking up half a cow on Thursday so I didn't pay much attention to that. Did notice that pork is super cheap - picked up another pack of the really meaty country style ribs which I will vacuum pack for the freezer. Chicken prices are over the top, which I thought was kind of strange - not paying $2.99 lb!

Same thing at the cigarette store (Smoker Friendly). The manager was refusing to wear a mask and said she's done with the whole mess of lies. In her take, this is a virus which is going to keep coming back, and if she has to stay locked up with her kids for another 3 months she's either going to go bankrupt or insane (take your pick which comes first).

I'm pretty well stocked, but need more 4-foot food which I can get either at PetCo or Walmart.

There are a couple things I like that H-E-B carries in general, but that my store doesn't. Historically you can place an order and they'll get some transferred for you. I brought in two packages from a couple items (for the SKU numbers) and asked the grocery manager to order them for me. "I'm sorry, but "due to COVID, there are no more special orders allowed for anything."

I didn't notice a lot of empty shelves except for milk. They weren't empty but if the rush continues they would be sold out by the end of the day. We drink unsweetened almond milk and that's usually plentiful but not today.

I just had a TP, paper towels, kleenex and Lysol wipes delivered. I didn't need them but will always use them so we are set for a while. If you are looking for wipes so far the Kroger website has them available for shipping limit 2. Actually it's the Smith's site- smithsfoodanddrug.com

We are seeing holes and low inventory again after the stores being fully stocked for weeks. This is the Russellville AR area.

While my next info is not in the store, it concerns me. I use and sell Plexus products. It is a direct marketing health and wellness company. My health has greatly improved during the 6 years I have been using these products. Yesterday, I was making my monthly order. Two products were out of stock. I have never seen anything out of stock unless it was a new product or a special promotion. Their Ease cream I use on my hubby's back was out, as was the Body cream. I was told there is an issue getting some of the ingredients. We also got an email saying some of the probiotics and protein shakes may have to be limited quantities starting in January.

Just got back from my local Aldi. Usually when Im there right at 9:00, there are only about 5-6 people. Today, the parking lot was FULL! Almost all the carts from one side of the store was gone. Even the cashiers were amazed. But the store was fully stocked. TP is limit 1. I got my turkey for Thanksgiving.

I didn't see turkeys yet when I was there or I would have picked up one. I'll have to go get one at some point but not for a while. I could just order one with a curbside pickup but things like a turkey- I want to pick out my own.

The local Sam's yesterday was well stocked, other than TP and paper towels. There was one pallet of each, the entire rest of the wall was empty.
Meijers, on the other hand, looked like a tornado hit it. They had quite a bit of no-brand tp and paper towels, but the rest of the store was hit-or-miss. Laundry soap was fully stocked, dryer sheets completely empty. 4 ft of sections where boxed mac and cheese goes was completely empty. Spices, sugar, flour looked mostly full, cake mixes and choc. chips section mostly empty. They had the canned chicken (can't think of the name of it, it's the one people were just showing on Amazon for $20/can) in stock for $6.99 / can.

I went the local small town Kroger yesterday and noticed 2 things when I was putting stuff away.... A container of Folgers decaf coffee has gone from 30.5 oz to 22.6 oz - no price decrease. Kroger brand wavy potato chips have gone from 9.5 oz to 8 oz, and again, no price decrease. Hmmm.

I still have a butterball in the freezer from March. Think it’s still ok? I’d like to just thaw it out now but thought about saving for Christmas or something , maybe?

Has it remained frozen the whole time? It's likely just fine.

Freezer burn might be an issue, depending on how well it was sealed, but if so just trim the burned part off.

Dennis, have you downloaded the H‑E‑B app? You can check for product at different locations. I shop two different H‑E‑B’s and frequently check to see which one has something I want in stock.

A few days ago, I ordered 6 of the 28 oz cans of Keystone beef via Amazon, at $55 and some change. Still pricey, but not too bad. Twice, now, the seller has asked me to cx the order as it is no longer in stock. I went back to the page from which I placed the order, and it clearly lists it as IN STOCK, I replied to the seller that I do NOT want to cx the order, and that I want the order fulfilled at the then-listed price, and included a screen shot of the seller's page.

They've since upped the price to $88.00! I'm waiting to see how this goes.

Oh, by the way I saw that Keystone brand for the first time at our Kroger this week....

I had no idea it was such a big deal, wow it’s expensive!
It better be good stuff for these prices!

Went with daughter and her friend to several stores. Only thing I saw low were some of the spices. We went to Costco and well stocked of toilet paper, cleaning products, flour, rice, sugar. I did not see anything missing other than organic flour was all gone. A lot of shoppers. One store did not have pumpkin. I forgot to check Costco. This is northern Idaho.

Went to Walmart and Aldi yesterday. Shelves were stocked but not deeply both places. Aldi still is out of canned carrots and a couple other empty spaces on the veggie shelves. Everything else was stocked even paper towels and TP but still limit of one on each. Store was typically busy.

Walmart on the other hand was a pain in the backside due to lack of clerks. I stood waiting for someone to cut fabric for me for 20 minutes (on sale for $3 marked down from $7.92). Then I stood in line for 25 minutes at one of the two open checkouts. When I complained the obviously stressed out checker said they were unable to hire people who were willing to work. One gal they hired spent all of her time running to the bathroom so she could check messages on her phone and another two quit after two days simply unwilling to actually work. An unfortunate sign of the times -- people so addicted to their phones they cannot put them down long enough to work. I have to wonder who is paying for those phones.

I can get the items at an H-E-B that’s 40 miles away from me. I’m not gonna do that.

I know there are plenty of responses to your question. We buy at least a half a dozen turkey breasts each year and freeze them for use throughout the year. We have two manual defrost chest freezers (we raise our own beef), and one upright that I just defrosted to make space for quick freezing. So far this year we haven't had any power outages that lasted more than a few hrs as I recall.

Turkey is a favorite in our house. We buy HEB's natural ones that aren't injected with any solution. I cooked one a few weeks ago and it was perfect. We still have one left from last year that we'll probably do for Thanksgiving, but I've already started buying more for the upcoming year. They're hard to find so far, I was only able to get three a few days ago and I'm sure the price is up from last year. I'm just glad I was able to get some, that was becoming a concern the way shortages have been cropping up. Anytime I go shopping near any HEB I'll be bringing a big cooler with frozen water bottles in case I can luck out and get more of their turkey breasts. I'd feel more comfortable if I can get a total of ten or so, given the way meat shortages have been this year.

Try one can of it, maybe make some sandwiches for lunch. It's the only brand I can eat. The rest have too many chemicals.

I don't have dozens of cans! Just a few. If I were sick, stressed, or without power, it would be nice to have some canned meat for a quick meal.
I agree!
I think I’ll try one, thanks!

I mentioned this before, but now I’m hearing it from others. If you use cake mixes, go get them. I don’t know why there’s a shortage of this, but there is. This picture I took Saturday so shocking to me because this Meijer store once had an entire half an aisle devoted to cake mixes, boxed quick breads, muffins and frostings. Now this is all they have. Barely one little section of an aisle and pretty depleted. Someone mentioned before to look on end caps for holiday baking, but all that was there was pumpkin spice stuff.

Good grief it never ends keeping track of all this!

I’m already (almost) at my spending limit for the week and still need more water, actually, a lot of things!

Prioritize and trust that God will provide. Keep in mind that there are lots of things that can be made from scratch or with other short cuts. Examples: "mug cakes" -- yes, it's possible to use your own ingredients to make them in the microwave. Are they wonderful? NO. Are they cool when you have a cake craving and little time or money? YES.
