Wasn't sure whether to label this REL or GOVT or just plain HYPOCRISY, but couldn't find a HYPO label. Where are the groups monitoring churches for sharing politics from the pulpit? Looks like they're only interested in conservative churches. If you ask me, this church is one in name only.

Pastor defends inviting Kerry to speak at church service

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio A pastor says he invited Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry to speak at his church today despite dozens of phone calls protesting Kerry's abortion stance.

The Reverend Ronald Logan of Greater Grace Temple in Springfield, Ohio, welcomed Kerry and his running mate John Edwards as fellow worshipers.

Logan told his congregation, "I don't believe in abortion. I don't believe in gay marriage. But if two men are married to each other and they come in here, I will minister to them."

His comments were met with a deafening roar of approval.

Kerry told worshipers, "We're not running to be religious leaders, we're running to be lay leaders. But there's no way you can be separated from your fundamental beliefs."

John Kerry spoke at a church here in columbus OH a couple weeks ago. I thought it strange since I had read a thread about some pastor (some state other than OH) had spoke about the elections from the pulpit and there was a big flap about pulling the church's tax exempt status. I don't understand the logic. Maybe there isn't logic?

The logic is painfully simple. Liberals may speak from the pulpit at churches and pastors, etc., of churches may tout liberal candidates from the pulpit. However, were conservatives to try the same tactic they must have their tax-exempt status revoked on the grounds that They Violate The Separation of Church and State. It's called a double standard.
