ALERT Regional middleast war thread Israel and Iran at war

A bit of historical perspective. Reading this reminded me of what Robert Gates said about Biden - "I think he has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades."

@AvivaKlompas

On June 22 1982, Joe Biden was a Senator from Delaware and confronted then Israeli Prime Minister

Menachem Begin during his Senate Foreign Relations committee testimony, threatening to cut off aid to Israel. Menachem Begin replied: “Don’t threaten us with cutting off your aid. It will not work. I am not a Jew with trembling knees. I am a proud Jew with 3,700 years of civilized history.

Nobody came to our aid when we were dying in the gas chambers and ovens. Nobody came to our aid when we were striving to create our country.

We paid for it. We fought for it. We died for it. We will stand by our principles. We will defend them. And, when necessary, we will die for them again, with or without your aid.”

Considering the :glass house" Biden et al are living in this definitely won't end well. Heck considering the "table stakes", I'd be surprised if a lot of those behind the curtain with the money don't get "visits" regarding Israeli and "domestic" Jewish "concerns".

When Hamas operations with Antifa/BLM become more generally known and more "kinetic" such visits may be more "uncomfortable" for those concerned.

Recall the "theoretical" discussions from the 2020 BLM/Antifa riots regarding kineticly responding to them? The IDF has field experience with such situations.

A weapons embargo on Israel ensures that Biden can’t get either what he says he wants or what we might fairly assume he wants. A thread.

1/ Biden says he wants a hostages-for-prisoners deal/ceasefire. But by pressuring Israel he emboldens Hamas to make unrealistic demands.

2/ Biden says he wants a two-state solution with a “revitalized”Palestinian Authority (PA) in charge of Gaza. But by saving Hamas he ensures it will block Fatah (the ruling party in the PA) from gaining a foothold in Gaza. The policy is stoking a Palestinian civil war.

3/ Biden says he wants to alleviate the humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip but by precluding a ceasefire deal and emboldening Hamas, he prolongs the war and therefore the suffering. A speedy Israeli victory is the only pathway to anything approaching normalcy for Gazans.

4/ Biden says he wants to free the hostages (some of whom are Americans) but his strengthening of Hamas’s negotiating hand ensures that Hamas will demand more in return for each hostage — at every step of the way. Some hostages it will hold forever, to maintain leverage.

5/ Biden says he wants to stop the Houthi attacks on commercial shipping, but by emboldening Hamas he emboldens the Houthis.

6/ Biden says he wants to end the Israel-Hezbollah war, but his reduced support for Israel emboldens Hezbollah. It also makes Jerusalem more prone to escalate as a way of deterring — of proving to Nasrallah that diminished U.S. support does not offer him immunity from attacks.

7/ Biden wants Tehran to help prevent a regional war, but by emboldening all elements of the “Resistance Axis,” his policy has the effect of widening the war. For the first time, Iran attacked Israel directly. It changed the rules of the game in its favor, yet paid no price.

8/ Biden says he stands against antisemitism, but by, in effect, accusing Israel of inexcusable brutality against innocent woman and children, he places the authority of his office behind the blood libel of the age.

9/ Biden says he wants normalization between Israel and the Saudis, but by weakening Israel he makes it less attractive as a partner. By elevating the two-state solution he forces Riyadh to emphasize its support. An Arab country can’t be less pro-Palestinian than the U.S.

10/ Finally, Biden calls his support for Israel “ironclad,” but his personalized attacks on PM Netanyahu encourage the opposition to try to bring him down. The policy stokes dissent and discord when promoting unity of purpose against a common enemy should be America’s goal.
“But in war more than in any other subject we must begin by looking at the nature of the whole; for here more than elsewhere the part and whole must always be thought of together.”

If you read the @nytimes comments, you'll see its progressive readers are thanking Biden for this move; although many believe he should have done it much sooner.

Israel still has many enemies on the American left.

Maher Bitar has been appointed as president #Biden's special counsel. He also serves as the director of intelligence and defense programs in the #UnitedStates National Security Council.

Of course, he was already appointed by the Obama administration, where he managed the "Israeli-Palestinian case".

Before that, as a student, he was the president of the #Islamist extremist and #antisemitic organisation SJP (Students for Justice in Palestine) at Georgetown University in #USA.

#SJP is the most violent student organisation in the United States against #Jews today.

Members of this organisation blew up dozens of events Israelis brought to U.S. campuses over the past decade. In many cases also physical attacks that ended in police investigations.

This is also the organisation leading many of the protests going on now against #Israel on campuses.

And another interesting fact. In 2007 Maher was working at #UNRWA.

This is the guy who advises President Biden.

Indeed, as expected, it appears that the Israeli airstrike that targeted a car in southern Lebanon was pursuing targets affiliated with Hezbollah.

Ahmed Hassan Maatouq and Ali Ahmad Hamza were killed in that airstrike.

It's unclear if there are any other individuals killed; the number might increase in the coming hours.

Tonight has made absolutely clear that if you support Joe Biden, you support victory for Hamas.

There’s no argument. There’s no room for equivocation. You’re not going to somehow thread the needle and escape responsibility.

If you support Joe Biden, you support the victory of Hamas. You support Hamas being able to come back and murder hundreds or thousands of Israel once again. And you support their murder and captivity of Americans. That’s what you support if you support Joe Biden. There’s no other explanation. Take responsibility for your choice.

I am going to oppose Hamas and all Americans enemies. You do you.

‘State of Palestine’ could be recognized by UN General Assembly on Friday

UAE expected to submit resolution to upgrade member status

The United Arab Emirates is expected to submit a resolution at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to recognize the “State of Palestine” this Friday, the Jerusalem Post reported Thursday morning.
According to the draft of the resolution: “Palestine is qualified for membership in the United Nations in accordance with Article 4 of the Charter and should therefore be admitted to membership in the United Nations.”
The text also affirms “the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, including the right to their independent State of Palestine.”
Currently, the Palestinian delegation only has observer status in UNGA. The UAE’s resolution is expected to receive majority support in the assembly, where around 140 nations have already independently recognized a Palestinian state in resolutions that cannot be vetoed.
However, the only way to become a full member state of the UN is through a vote in the Security Council, where the United States has blocked similar advances in the past, most recently in April.
“Recognizing a Palestinian State after October 7 means rewarding Hamas for murdering over 1,000 Israelis. It means giving a prize to the Iranian Regime,” Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz charged in a post on .
“The only way to promote peace is through direct negotiations, within the framework of a regional normalization process,” he added.
Israeli officials strongly rejected the possibility of recognizing a Palestinian state over the past months, after the Palestinian Authority (PA) renewed its push to reach full recognition in the UN, as well as by individual states following Hamas’ invasion and massacre last October.
Oren Marmorstein, Israel's Foreign Ministry spokesman, wrote last week that “every statement about the possibility that European countries will recognize a Palestinian state is a prize for Hamas terrorists.”
“The world including Europe should currently focus solely on the immediate release of the 133 women and men taken hostage and on the destruction of the Hamas terror organization. Anyone promoting a different agenda at this time is playing into the hands of Hamas and is hindering efforts to reach a deal on releasing the hostages and humanitarian relief,” Marmorstein added.
In February, the Israeli government rejected unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state by other nations in a rare unanimous vote, following reports that the Biden administration was weighing such a move to pressure Israel in the hostage release negotiations with Hamas.
“Israel utterly rejects international diktats regarding a permanent settlement with the Palestinians. A settlement, if it is to be reached, will come about solely through direct negotiations between the parties, without preconditions,” the declaration read.
“Israel will continue to oppose unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state. Such recognition in the wake of the October 7th massacre would be a massive and unprecedented reward to terrorism and would prevent any future peace settlement.”
The decision to reject the proposal was agreed upon by all Israeli cabinet members, including the more left-leaning National Unity party ministers like Gadi Eisenkot.
The first bid for recognition of statehood in the UN was launched by PA President Mahmoud Abbas in 2011. With a two-thirds majority, the UNGA gave “State of Palestine” the status of a non-member observer state the following year, in 2012.
Since then, the PA has been allowed to participate in UN forums and sign treaties, including the Rome Statute, which gave it access to the International Criminal Court. ‘State of Palestine’ could be recognized by UN General Assembly on Friday

Hopefully the NY Jews will finally grow some common sense and abandon Biden and Co.

NY Jews are not Jews by religion for the most part (obviously there is also a large orthodox sect in NY too). But most are Jews by birth and they are the furthest away in ideology from Israel as you can get. Love their money, love their status and could care less what is going on unless it effects their identity directly.

Well, let's put it this way:

The ANTI-JEWISH HATE being spewed, and the increasing resemblance between America and 1930's Germany as Jews' lives and safety are being threatened JUST FOR BEING JEWS, will serve the Lord's purpose by forcing even the Jews here in America ("land of the free"---??? Netanyahu finally put out a statement after Biden threatened to cut off funding, noting in a video in Hebrew that Israel's Independence Day is next week and that in the War of Independence "we were few against many. We didn't have weapons, there was an arms embargo on Israel, but with strength of character, the courage and unity within us, we won. Today we are much stronger. We are determined and we are united to defeat our enemy and those who wish to kill us. If we need to stand alone, we will stand alone. I already said that if we need to, we will fight with our nails. But we have much more than nails, and with that same strength of character, with God's help we will win together."

Responding to a question at a press conference, IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari says the military has enough munitions for the missions it has planned, after US President Joe Biden threatened that some arms shipments would be frozen if Israel launches a planned offensive in southern Gaza's Rafah.

"The IDF has armaments for the missions it is planning, and also for the missions in Rafah. We have what we need," he says.

The IDF's operation in Rafah has been limited to just the eastern outskirts of the city, and not the entire city where more than one million Palestinians are sheltering.

"The US has so far provided security assistance to the State of Israel and the IDF in an unprecedented manner during the war," Hagari says.

Highlighting the coordination between the militaries, he says IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi speaks with US CENTCOM chief Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla every day.

"Even when there are disagreements between us, we resolve them behind closed doors," Hagari says.

"Israel has security interests, but we are also aware of the interests of the US, and that's how we will continue to act," he adds.

1. Israel can deal with US arms embargo as munition stockpiles are high thanks to weapons shipments in recent months, says defense analyst Ron Ben-Yishai via @ynetalerts; but IDF will use more artillery fire & simple armaments as not to waste advanced weaponry, he says
2. Instead of using smart bombs, IDF will be tapping into Israel’s huge supply of non-precise munitions, thereby increasing Palestinian death toll, report says; IDF will also boost use of strike drones, armed with missiles produced by Israel’s defense industries
3. Israel can handle partial American arms embargo as long as US continues to supply air defense missiles & other defensive gear, report says. For now, US decision will not have a dramatic or immediate impact on Israel’s military operations

We will stand strong, we will achieve our goals - we will hit Hamas, we will hit Hezbollah, and we will achieve security.”

⚠️ Officials in the American administration conveyed a message to Israeli officials: "Biden exaggerated in his statement about not transferring the weapons, we will find ways to lower the flames and transfer what is needed."
It is possible that the transfer of the weapon will be conditional on its not being used as part of the Rafah maneuver.

When are we going to wake up and pull funding from the UN? They are nothing but a supporter of terrorists and left wing haters.
We should probably first focus on the supporters of terrorists and left wing haters that stole our own government before we worry about our relationships with those other bodies : (

Who is hating. Just stating the fact. They are not predominantly religious Jews in NY, they are Jews by race. Which means being in NY and most of them in NYC, most of them are LIBERALS. Which means, in all its idiocy, they support Biden, not Trump. They vote for what is the most beneficial to them, not their country of origin or even their religion, because they dont practice much if at all. They show up on high holy days out of tradition, not necessarily out of any devotion to the Lord or his commands. Gotta keep up with the Jones' (or Goldbergs), ya know. I live here. I see whats going on.

I support Israel and understand its biblical relevance. But when you talk about the Jewish people in the US, most of them, are secular, not religious. Others were trying to understand why a Jew wouldnt support Israel, back Trump or why they would be participating in protests. That's why.
