Iranians claim that explosions in Isfahan were the result of its air defense systems which were activated; Iran claims Israeli missiles did not hit Iran's nuclear facilities. @TreyYingst
reports this gives Iran a face saving way to not have to respond. US military source calls Israeli strike: "limited." US military was NOT involved in strikes.

Iranian official to Reuters: "The explosion heard in isfahan was a result of the activation of Iran's air defence system"

U.S Sources: Missiles launched by Israel were NOT intercepted and hit their target

MY THOUGHTS: Iran is likely lying about the attack because they do not want to escalate the matter, and with a limited response.

THIS IS GOOD NEWS

since nothing happened, there will be no need to respond?
or Israel, Iran, or both, are pulling a head fake on us?

Iranian sources tell #AlMayadeen that no external aggression against Iran was launched on Friday. What is being circulated about an Israeli attack on #Iran are lies and are part of a misinformation war, according to our sources.

Sources also added that complicit #US media outlets are waging a proxy war of disinformation on behalf of the Israeli occupation.

This comes after #Iran's Space Agency confirmed that several drones, of unspecified origin, were downed over Iranian airspace. The agency said that no missile attack on Iran occurred on Friday.

A lot of conflicting reports from both U.S. and Iranian officials. It is making it rather difficult to really understand what happened tonight.

Overall, despite the mess, the following is consistent:

- Israel conducted a limited strike on Iranian soil.
- The target was unclear.

Iranian officials have blasted the following comments to local and foreign media outlets:

- AD successfully intercepted suspicious objects.
- No missile attack took place in Iran.
- An military airbase near Isfahan was struck.
- No explosions occurred.
- All quiet in Isfahan.

Things like this really show how messy events can be, especially in the initial hours. Tread carefully on uncollaborative items.

Hopefully, as time goes by, we will know more.

I'm still worried bout those US bases.

@Natsecjeff

Something tells me that what we have just witnessed may not be the entirety of the Israeli response. We will find out in the coming hours/days. Meanwhile, watch Iran and its surrounding countries (with presence of IRGC or its proxies) closely.

At this point, if Iran goes after US bases again, either via proxy or openly, the IRGC and the ruling clique will find out what Saddam learned first hand.

  • The Natanz nuclear facility is located in Isfahan.
  • Unconfirmed simultaneous explosions have also been reported in Syria and Iraq (Baghdad and Babil/Babylon province).
  • Iran has established a no-fly-zone over its western region.
  • Market reaction: initial panic selling, but gradually as it becomes clear that this is just a token "scripted" response to the token "scripted" initial attack by Iran - which achieved absolutely nothing - markets are rebounding.

Israel - having once again ignored Biden's pleadings not to escalate the already tense situation - is retaliating against Iran's weekend strike, which was itself a retaliation against Israel bombing Iran's embassy in Syria on April 1.
Moments ago futures dumped, oil prices spiked, and treasury yields slumped amid social media reports and Reuters headlines that there have been three "huge explosions" near the central Iran cities of Natanz (location of an Iranian nuclear power plant) and Isfahan (location of the Iranian Nuclear Technology Center which is suspected of being the center of Iran's nuclear weapons program), as well as simultaneous explosions in Iraq and Syria, where the Israel air force appears to be targeting pro-Iranian militias.
  • IRANIAN MEDIA CONFIRMS AN ISRAELI ATTACK ON IRANIAN TERRITORY
  • IRANIAN STATE MEDIA IS REPORTING THAT TONIGHT’S AIRSTRIKE BY THE ISRAEL AIR FORCE MAY HAVE TARGETED THE 8TH TACTICAL AIRBASE OF THE IRANIAN AIR FORCE, WITHIN ISFAHAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, WHICH CONTAINS MULTIPLE SQUADRONS OF F-14 “TOMCAT” FIGHTER AIRCRAFT.
  • ABC NEWS REPORTS THAT ISRAELI MISSILES HIT A SITE IN IRAN

The market reaction has been immediate, with S&P futures dumping initially but then, as speculation grows that this is another measured, scripted response to the measured, scripted initial attack by Iran, the market is starting to normalize fast.

... with oil initially surging, then dropping.

... and gold also first surged above $2400, only to slide right back...

... with Silver fading all the gains...

...and Treasuries are aggressively bid but they too are now fading.

Even as the Bitcoin algos reprice WW3... for the second time in 5 days.

And as traders brace for the worst, because even if Israel hopes to present a "measured" retaliation now it's a question of what Iran will do next, it once again appears that this was just the latest episode in the carefully scripted middle-eastern "war" soap opera.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 19, 2024
More as we get it, until then, fear not: he is watching everything... closely.

Fine riposte to Iran’s furbler. Which side gathered more useful intel? Israel. Several things learned last night. Efficacy of the now, elderly, S-300. American stealth design, and Israeli major avionics, vis-a-vis F-35 enhancements, negated an Iranian perceived belief in the superiority of the S-300. In order to shoot down an aerial threat, it must “see” it. Too, the missiles must be able to “find” it. The Iranian S-300 could do neither. If Russian “advisors” were in the S-300 command and control centers, their after action reports will be on top of the desks at the Russian Defense Ministry. Damage control, rather than clean-up, will be in high gear. Information gleaned will be applied to both S-400 and S-500 systems. Depending on just how close Russia and China actually are, the data may be shared. Both nations are trying to sell obsolete inventory to cash strapped proxies and allies. Regardless, when Russia and China go to war, neither S-300 or C-300 will be top tier.

April 20, which some also find significant.

"April 20th has historically been associated with ominous or tragic events, most notably the birth of Adolf Hitler, as well as the Columbine High School massacre and the start of the BP oil disaster."

But it is also Pizza Delivery Appreciation Day, so go figure.
Doesn't it have something to do with marijuana also?
from the internet:

Simply put, 4/20 is a holiday to celebrate weed.

Finally all my Telegram sites (most in Israel) are back up. Unfortunately, I have to head off to work and don't have time to post the messages. But before I head out, here's one from Amir Tsarfati this morning:

So…. Let’s summarize the events:
Israel carried a limited attack on Iranian bases from where the Saturday night missiles and drones were launched.
The damage is heavy but hard to see from the ground by civilians.

The only reasons anyone knows about this attack are the loud explosions from the air defense systems.

Israel sent a message:
We are able to attack and hit you hard. Now, let’s see if you will retaliate! If so, your nuclear sites are next.

The scale of the this attack trapped the Iranians. They can’t attack back and they can’t even use Hezbollah to strike hard or-else they will lose them as well.

While all eyes are on Iran the Israeli military is prepared to begin a powerful ground maneuver into Rafah.

digging through various Brit news sites (Sky, BBC, Mail) all seem to describe Israeli attack mostly symbolic, very small scale. Israel can say they hit back, but with minimal damage, while Iran can claim it was no big deal, so no need for them to escalate. Gives them both an off-rant to stand down from the abyss. Could be a needed anti-climax climax

But do the Israelis have access to reliable "real time" intel available to let them know if the Itanians are preparing another attack?
Just a personal opinion, no facts involved:

That Israel and the US have more spy satellites over Iran than almost any other country on earth. So like yeah they know.

Those sat's be like a thousand ducks trying to get in the same small area of unfrozen pond. Pushing each other around for space. BTSeenT makes for a great kill zone.
