CORONA QUESTION ABOUT COVID/MEDICARE

I am two months away from Medicare and I have completed my research for prices, models, plans, etc., -YouTube has actually been great for that sort thing. My question that I have is about how many actual people on Medicare died from COVID. Maybe someone here has the numbers or could tell me where to find them. I have a theory that premiums going forward will be effected by the results. Thanks…. :hmm:

Well, the reason why so many Medicare patients died of Covid was NOT anything about their coverage per se.

It was the fact that they were stuffing known Covid patients into the nursing homes with no regard whatsoever for the health of the existing residents. It actually looked to me like they purposefully stuffed infectious Covid patients into the nursing homes so that they could infect (and kill) as many of the old people as possible.

Well it's also because those on medicare are typically older and/or have serious comorbidities.

Thanks, but I’m not seeing an actual number. I get the why and the how, but I’m interested in the number to compare it to those on specific plans still in Medicare. The sicker the population on certain plans effects the premiums going forward.

There is no rhyme or reason to Medicare that I can see. Been on it for ten years. Read what they offer this year and toss your nickel and take what seems to best for you. I know that is not the answer you are looking for but logic does not seem to play a part in it.

Thanks Templar, already signed up for what I need -thanks to someone's guidance here a few months back. Actually, it was one of the more simple decisions lately. My concern is trying to look at supplemental increases going forward, based on how sick groups are and what they sign up for, in terms of plans. Anyway, it’s amazing how hard it is to get -what should be- simple data.…
But hey, 2022 and the experts run the show….:kaid:

I think you are not looking for one simple number but for many (different Medicare plans.)
Medicare as such is one thing, age determined (or incapacitated.)
Those "covered by Medicare" are actually covered by many different plans (Supplementals or Advantage - which are really Insurance company takeovers from Medicare-)
So what number or numbers are you actually asking for that you think someone has collected just in the groupings as YOU see it?

Neither here nor there.

This^^^ This is what happened to the nursing home at the VA where my dad was living. I'm pretty sure based upon what my SIL told me, of his symptoms, that he died from covid, as did many other vets that were on his floor. Why you might ask? Because they were housing known covid patients that were being shipped to them from the greater chicago area, and they weren't even vets!

You should talk to a SCHICK representative. They can't give you the facts you are wanting but they will help you find the best supplemental plan for you.

Thanks. Specifically looking for plan G and the discontinued plan F. In addition, just X amount of people on Medicare and closest to present date of X amount of Medicare people died from COVID, not an impossible number to be out there.
ESSENTIALLY 4 Simple Numbers:
Number of COVID deaths Plan F
Number of COVID deaths Plan G
Total Medicare recipients on Supplemental Plans/COVID Deaths
Simple data really, not just as I see it.… :kaid:
