Ener Propane prices going the wrong way

Just a heads-up, might want to check with your supplier. Was in filling a small bottle and when I went in to pay for it, was talking with the owner, asked about delivered price. Said it's $2.45 right now but might go UP in the next month or so. He said he's suspecting a price increase instead of the almost-always price drop around July 4.

Last year propane was 2.20 at Memorial Day, and I filled for 2.10 on July 2. This year I didn't gamble and filled up the house tank at the 2.45 this morning.

Only reason I think it's worth a post is because I didn't think of propane going up heading into summer. But then, NOTHING is doing what it's historically done, either. So...

It went up here in the last year and did not go down. I've not expected it to go down. My big tank is filled and I don't think DH has used much in any of the smaller tanks.

Day by day
After our unusual deep winter freeze this past February, we bought a few extra Big Buddy propane heaters and went on the hunt for the 1lb bottles. We know we could get the bigger ones and get an adapter for them, but they weren't available anywhere. So, we opted to stick with the smaller bottles for the time being. They weren't available anywhere, either.

It took awhile, but after a few months looking this spring we did find some at Academy Sports. We were coming back from Costco down in The Woodlands and decided to stop in at the Academy in Conroe (this is hours away from us). They'd apparently gotten in a shipment for spring camping, I guess, and there were two 'cases' of 12 bottles on the shelf. We bought one. I don't recall how much we paid, honestly we didn't care. We just wanted to be sure we were set if next winter is as ugly as this past one was.

I'm hearing there are still some spot shortages of the 1lb bottles here and there, and prices are up. Apparently they will continue to be going up. Anyone thinking of winter preps might want to hustle a bit.

Grill season is here as well. RV season is year round here in Florida. I've noticed the last two years that the places that normally have those replacement or refill propane tanks aren't keeping as many in stock.

Local quote for $1.90 for next Monday.

Was up to $2.20 during the icepocalypse.

I have feelers out with a business associated with a big LP distribution company on future prices. No report yet.

Not expecting Mr. Heaters until late August...if then.

There are adapters that let you refill the 1 lb canisters. My problem is that I did stock up on them over the past few years. But now you can't throw away the empties. No local trash service will allow you to toss them. They've become as hard to get rid off as the bigger propane canisters. I don't like the idea of refilling them but I'm probably going to get the adapter and do it.
