President Biden Speaks Out on Hunter’s Daughter, 4, with Ark. Woman: ‘Jill and I Only Want What’s Best’ (Exclusive)

Virginia Chamlee

President Joe Biden has offered his first statement on 4-year-old grandchild Navy Joan Roberts, the daughter of Hunter Biden and Lunden Roberts, an Arkansas woman who filed a paternity suit against the president's son in May 2019.
“Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward," President Biden said in a statement provided exclusively to PEOPLE.
Navy, one of the president's seven grandchildren, has recently been the subject of headlines as Republicans have criticized the president for previously touting his "six grandchildren."
"This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter," President Biden's statement continues. "Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.”

A source familiar with the situation tells PEOPLE that the recently resolved child support dispute between Hunter and Lunden has dictated how the relationship has played out so far.
"You have to remember there were some fairly contentious legal proceedings between Navy’s parents happening until just a few weeks ago. As grandparents, the Bidens are following Hunter’s lead," the source says, adding, "They are — and have been — giving Hunter and Lunden the space and time to figure things out."

The legal dispute between Lunden and Hunter worked its way through Arkansas courts for more than four years and led to a November 2019 ruling that, despite his denials, Hunter did father the child (which was confirmed with a DNA test).
Speaking to PEOPLE, the source notes that the situation is a family issue.
“Thousands of families have faced similar circumstances, working it out in private, versus the spotlight," the source says. "At the center is a 4-year-old girl and everyone wants what is best for her, including all of her grandparents.”

In January 2020, Hunter agreed to pay an undisclosed amount in child support to Lunden, including retroactive payments going back to November 2018.
But in April 2021, she filed a "motion for contempt" which claimed Hunter had withheld evidence and ignored previous court rulings throughout their paternity dispute. The contempt motion echoed a previous filing made by Roberts ahead of the January 2020 settlement, when Lunden argued that Hunter should be held in contempt by the judge for ignoring various court orders. She also requested that he be required to pay her attorney fees, which was included in the recent filing, too.
In June 2023, Hunter settled the child support case in Arkansas state court, reaching an agreement with Lunden, the terms of which have been under wraps. CNN has reported that, as part of the settlement, the child will receive both monetary child support and some of Hunter's paintings.

Lunden, meanwhile, dropped an earlier attempt to change Navy's last name to “Biden,” according to the court filing.
“A lot has thankfully been sorted out, and Navy’s parents are working on a way forward that’s best for her," the source tells PEOPLE.

Hunter is a father to four additional children. He shares daughters Naomi, 29, Finnegan, 22, and Maisy, 21, with ex-wife Kathleen Buhle, and son Beau Jr., 3, with his current wife, Melissa Cohen.

President Biden's close relationship with his other grandchildren (who call him "Pop") has been well-documented. Last November, Naomi got married at the White House.
"They're crazy about me and I'm crazy about them," the president said of his grandkids on an episode of the SmartLess podcast in 2022. "Every single day, I contact every one of my grandchildren."

Am I reading this correctly, that this worthless, dickless, souless ,clueless ,worthless and brainless excuse for a human being that some call the president of the United States has actually acknowledged that Navy is his grandaughter? If so, there has to be a reason for it doing that.

A pox on him, his slut of a wife and the rest of his scumbag family. Now and forever

Americans do not put up with such from our President.

Well, at the risk o' being unduly cynical, I have to assume that the polling #s showed that there was near universal negative reaction to him ignoring the innocent child, so in typical machivallian fashion, he tried to manipulate the situation to his advantage.

..and in typical BIDEN fashion, all he did was manage to make a really bad situation far far worse.

Navy Gets The Nod: President Biden Acknowledges The Existence Of His Fifth Granddaughter

by Tyler Durden

Authored by Jonathan Turley,
For her entire life, Navy Joan Roberts has been “she who must not be named.”

There is no evidence that her father has ever visited her, let alone held her.
Her grandparents repeatedly denied her existence and said that they had only “four granddaughters.”
— Benny Johnson (@bennyjohnson) July 29, 2023
They even gave their dogs stockings at Christmas rather than Navy, who never even bit one let alone a score of Secret Service agents.
As even Democrats began to voice their own shock at the cruelty of the First Couple shunning this child, the Bidens finally relented and recognized her existence, but only barely so.
Pressed by Fox News, the White House issued this statement:

“Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward. This is not a political issue, it’s a family matter. Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.”
Even for those of us who merely followed this saga from the beginning, the statement was maddening and frankly insulting. It suggested that there was some reason, until now, that prevented the Bidens from acknowledging the existence of their fifth granddaughter. That is false. There was no legal, or even tactical, reason for the refusal of the First Couple to acknowledge Navy for four years.

Navy and her mother sought that recognition and the Bidens refused. How was that in the “best interests” of this child? Were they fostering a relationship when they gave the German Shepherds stockings at Christmas but not their grandchild?
Moreover, Hunter has not been “working together” with Lunden for the best interests of his daughter. He has been a callous cad throughout this process, consistently putting his own interests ahead of his child.
Hunter refused to admit that he was Navy’s father for years until forced to accept the results of a court-ordered DNA test.
He then fought child support and even her use of the name Biden. He was threatened repeatedly with contempt of court over his obstruction in the litigation in Arkansas. The statement that he has been working together with Lunden is insulting to anyone who has followed these court proceedings, let alone their granddaughter.
In June, Hunter settled the Arkansas child support case on the condition that Lunden agreed to withdraw her request to change their child’s last name to “Biden.”

Washington is a hard town. I have lived and worked here for decades and I am still amazed by the cold calculations of many in this city. Long-standing values and associations are routinely jettisoned for personal advantage. Here the moral strictures of the rest of the nation are flipped; vice is a virtue and integrity is a weakness.
Yet, even in this place of utter personal corruption, the Bidens shocked the local population. It was not their millions in influence peddling. The Bidens are standouts but hardly unique in that form of corruption. It is not the President’s obvious lies about his knowledge and ties to his son’s foreign dealings. Truth is as relative in Washington as loyalty in this city. However, few have the stomach for how the Bidens treated this little girl. The Bidens spent more time fretting over the “pressure” of the White House on Major and Commander than they did the emotional impact on a four-year-old child who was prevented from even calling herself a Biden.

So what changed after four years to compel this passing recognition in a press statement? It was not the litigation. There was never any legal reason not to recognize their granddaughter since it was confirmed by DNA and court order. It was not any sudden request of the child or her mother. They have been asking for years for such recognition.
It was more likely the disgust expressed even by Democrats that this is simply wrong. The President is about to head out on the campaign trail and had no answer to that objection. In other words, for the First Couple, it is a political not a family matter. If it were the latter, they would have done the decent thing years ago.
Of course, the President cannot go into his loving account of how his granddaughter is “a talker” and playful (like his German Shepherd) because he has never bothered to meet her.

That is now a matter for this little girl to contemplate as she gets older.
However, whatever the impetus of the sudden recognition of Navy’s existence, it was not any legal cause.
The First Couple was free to do the decent thing at any time over the last four years. They simply did not find it in their “best interest” to do so.

She's probably safer if the Biden family doesn't acknowledge her...her mother should quietly walk away and avoid them.

I wonder how many children actual presidents left behind. I'm thinking of Harding, but I imagine Kennedy raising his hand. And this is hardly limited to the "elite"-- I know I have a few unrecognized cousins.

The Reason Joe Biden Finally Acknowledged His Granddaughter Makes the Situation Even Worse

Bonchie

As RedState reported, after four long years, Joe Biden has finally acknowledged the existence of his seventh grandchild. In one of the most morally depraved actions by a president in modern history, the elder Biden routinely proclaimed he only had six grandchildren, even going so far as to direct staff to repeat the same falsehood.
In one instance, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked how many grandchildren the president has. Astonishingly, she actually refused to answer the question by stating, “I don’t have anything to share from here.”
The grandchild in question, Navy Roberts, was disowned by Hunter Biden before she was even born, with the president’s son shunning the mother’s attempts to maintain a connection to the Biden family. After that, a court battle ensued, beginning with a forced paternity test and ending with a settlement that denied the child from even using the Biden last name.

It wasn’t until July of 2023 that Joe Biden finally decided to acknowledge his seventh grandchild in a robotic statement to People Magazine. The White House then demanded privacy as many speculated that the president’s cratering poll numbers had played a role in the reversal.
But now, a new report is shedding light on why Joe Biden disowned his granddaughter for so long, and it only makes the situation worse. Apparently, the president was waiting for the “green light” from Hunter Biden.
In recent weeks, President Joe Biden realized that his silence was no longer tenable — that it was time for him to publicly recognize his 4-year-old granddaughter caught up in a bitter child support case involving his son Hunter Biden, people familiar with the matter said.
But before he could do so, he wanted to take one final step: getting the “green light” from his son, which he received last week, one source said. And on Friday, Biden finally spoke out about his seventh grandchild whom, for years, he wouldn’t so much as acknowledge in public.
I’m just in awe after reading that paragraph. Hunter Biden is a crack-addled abuser who has spent his life taking advantage of others, in some cases criminally. What kind of moral degenerate would give a person like that deference over an innocent four-year-old?
Never in a million years, if I were in a similar situation, would I be looking to my influence-peddling son to give me permission to have a relationship with my own granddaughter. Certainly, I wouldn’t wait around for him to tell me it’s okay to acknowledge her existence. No non-sociopath operates that way.

Further, what does all of this say about Joe Biden’s relationship with his son and the Bidens in general? We are talking about a family already knee-deep in allegations of corruption. Is there a reason Joe Biden was keen to do what his son demanded, up to and including ignoring the existence of a grandchild? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Of course, now that Joe Biden has taken the plunge, he wants to turn it into a PR win because everything is about politics for the president.
Now, the president wants to meet little Navy Joan Roberts of Arkansas and dispel the notion that he was ignoring a vulnerable member of the Biden family tree that is at the root of his political identity, according to the people familiar with the matter.
The idea that Joe Biden was ignoring his granddaughter is not a “notion.” It was a reality for four years, even as he was pressed on the issue again and again. I’m glad he’s finally gotten around to trying to have a relationship with her, but pretending he’s doing something heroic this late in the game is laughable.
That the media continues to defend Joe Biden regarding this situation is disheartening. No Republican politician could get away with this without being drowned by a deluge of justifiably bad press. Joe Biden continues to get a pass, and it’s untenable.
