Prepping Can Taste So Goood.....

Has No Life - Lives on TB
I'm sitting in my office eating lunch as I write this.

And what a wonderful lunch it is:

Peanut butter and jam sandwich with home canned strawberry jam, made with strawberries grown in the garden;

Fresh broccoli and cauliflower shoots picked yesterday afternoon out of our garden (with a packet of store bought Ranch dressing);

and for dessert, fresh strawberries picked fresh out of the garden yesterday afternoon!

There is no disputing it: locally grown, freshly picked food ALWAYS taste better than the stuff that is shipped in from Timbucktu. And food that is grown organically in a rich, well balanced, black loamy soil ALWAYS taste better than the stuff that is grown in poor soil and has tons of chemicals sprayed on it.

Oh how great Prepping can taste!

Congrats on enjoying the fruits of your labor. The benefits are many including a healthy alternative to store bought.

This year, I made an earthbox (thanks to some hints from Summerthyme). I planted it full of different types of lettuce. We've been eating fresh young salad greens out of it for three weeks now. It is YUMMY!!!! Fresh greens, add a few slices of cucumber and its a meal fit for a king. Doesn't even need salad dressing.

The best part is the earthbox sits on the 2nd floor deck, right off the dining room. Fresh from the box to the table - now that is FRESHNESS!

I agree! You just can beat the freshness of home grown food! Veggies that are enjoyed minutes after picking cannot be compared to the ones at the grocery store, that are days or even weeks old.

I always have something growing in my garden, even if it only a few greens in the winter. The taste, the nutrition and convenience can't be beat!
