DH went to an upcoming job site the other day to do some measurements, etc. I guess it's some sort of trucking company. The owner and DH were chatting and a stack of messy boxes on the floor was pointed out to DH. Sometimes, something will break open and make a mess all over one of the pallets so they'll just write off the whole pallet of food. The owner told DH to take it home. I hope there's more to come!

59 big cans (those industrial gallon size ones!) of free food! Hominy, pinto beans, bean salad, etc. :D

As a trucker for refrigerated goods, I've brought home my share of stuff over the years. BBQ sauce, Coleslaw dressing, Candy, Gallons of Sunny-D..... The most recent was a case of 3Musketeers (440 bars), and a case of Snickers bite-size (dozens of bags). I've gotten free produce at the farms or bought some for way cheap. :D

Ex-H used to drive for an industrial food supply house. Those were the days! He'd bring home some awesome free stuff.

One time he brought home 6 or 7 huge turkey breasts, the kind you find at the deli, because there were slight tears in the plastic and they were destined to get freezer burn and would have been tossed.

Another time he brought home 30 pounds of this stuff called King Cookie Respondo. All you had to do was add a little flour and you had cookie dough. I should have just put it on the scale and stood on top of it! It was a deadly baking year. I was putting everything under the sun into cookies - fruit loops to nuts. I sure was a popular mommy on the cul du sac!:D

Wow, that is something! Several on this board having been praying for others to have prepping needs met. That is cool to have something like that to just "fall in your lap". Very happy for you! :)

< Yes, I do look like that.
One of the customers at my father's auto shop is the owner of a local baked-goods distribution company. We give him and his family free oil changes. He gives up some of the overstock that is always sent inbaked-goods shipments.

Last time he dropped off a dozen bags of fresh cinnamon bagels and a case of cookies. And by "fresh" I mean "baked yesterday morning, shipped over last night, and fresh off the truck this morning."

Treating customers like peopel worthy of a modicum of respect has its rewards... :D
