Tomorrow we are traveling to Southern California . My mom is 97 years old and due to my husband's health issues I have not seen her in 5 years. My husband, who suffers from chronic back and knee pain, insists that we go see my mom and help with my nieces baby shower this Saturday. This is a huge challenge for my husband, who also has bladder nerve issues from spinal surgery. My husband is driving for the six hour trip. I so appreciate him doing this for me. There is no talking him out of it, he cannot be left at home alone, he will not stand for a nurse to come in for a few days while I am gone.
We are also leaving our two border collies locked up in the barn. There is a serious dog flu going around and local vets recommend not to use local kennels. The stall they are in is big and warm, plenty of food and water and they have their crates to use as they wish. Neighbor will check on them but they are not allowed out. We usually take the border collies with us where ever we go but it is just not wise to take them with us for this trip. The other two dogs are free to roam and the horses are fine.
Please pray for safe travel, limited pain for my husband, and that my dear boys (the border collies) are OK. I feel like I am leaving my children behind and am in tears about it. It is the right decision for them but both of us are sad to leave them.
