EBOLA Possible case in Green Bay

There was a patient admitted to the ED in Green Bay with Ebola-like symptoms this evening (Tuesday night). I was there with a group of students doing our weekly rotation and heard some of the nurses mention mention it. This patient had a fever and vomiting and had recently been out of country and flown back through Paris. This is all I know but if I learn more I will post it.
The glass doors across the room were closed and an isolation cart was outside the room with a sign showing what PPE was required to enter the room. I avoided that area of the ED as did all the students.
NOTHING has been said to us concerning Ebola which I find disturbing. We have not been informed of any hospital protocol nor what we should do if we encounter potential Ebola patients while doing ride time on the ambulances. For a nation with such advanced medical care we are not prepared for this or any other nightmare that may be in the wings.

This. Is. What. I. Fear.

You have good reason.

I'm beginning to see, I think, why God did not allow it to work out for my eldest son to go on off to college this year. We're currently trying to help my middle son either get a part-time job (in a PHARMACY, of all things---) and / or begin his own college studies at a local community college in January--a college where there are a LOT of "multi-cultural" students from all over the world.

I'm wondering if maybe we should drop the whole thing & just tell him to stay home, for now...

Did the PPE list on the Isolation cart follow the CDC guidelines, or was it realistic?

Were any of the full-time staff wearing upgraded PPE in the regular ED?

Depending on what field he wants to go into, there are some pretty good online programs now.

I can confirm that there are NO suspected cases at Bellin hospital. If there is a case it would most likely at St Vincent. There was a surprise drill at the hospitals either yesterday or today, but I cant confirm which day right now. I will ask more questions in the coming days.

ANYTHING that anyone can get to confirm or disprove this thread is vital to me. I live in between three of the major hospitals here. WW - it could also be Aurora. They have the glass partitions in the ER.

I forgot about Aurora. That one is going to be harder for me to get info from. However, I am told any case in Green Bay will end up going to St Vincent.

No staff I saw had on PPE. I stayed away from that area of the ED so don't know what the poster on the cart showed for appropriate PPE. I'll be back next week and will ask what the recommended PPE is.

No elbola in Green Bay. St Vincent set up a isolation room proactively. They are putting anyone that comes in with Ebola like symptoms into that room for now. Was told st Vincent wants to be the world class leader in protecting their employees.

Oh, they got a result back that fast? Since you are in the know, was the patient even tested? This is why I used the word 'possible'. It's possible to also have a negative test with an Ebola positive patient. The test is not always positive early on. At any rate, I am elated if this patient does not have the disease. I hope we never see Ebola in Green Bay.
"World class leader" gives me a chuckle. Where's the training for the medics?

The training has started with the ER staff as I understand it. They will move to the extra ER staff in the coming days. They have the CDC plus extra PPE ready. They determined their own PPE levels that the local staff thought was right and it's more than the CDC requires. They have had a patient with alcohol poisoning and flu that they put into the isolation room so far. (Maybe more) part of the reason for this is to practice their protocol before a real Ebola patient shows up. They have been in contact with UWGB about any foreign students that could have been to Western Africa. I felt very encouraged about the Green Bay preparedness. Now I have to find out about Appleton.
