I've been posting weekend movies for a few months. I'd like to get some feedback from those interested.
This poll is about different aspects of what is good and bad and where it should go in the new year.
All of the movie threads now have the "movies" tag enabled. Simply click the tag "movies" above to see all posted movie threads going back to late summer of 2019.

There are 5 questions. You can answer each question.
On this new software, you can change your choices later.
You can also see the overall results without having to vote in the poll.
Poll answers are anonymous.

Question 1: Have you actually watched a posted movie?
Question 2: Is the variety of movie topics a good mix for you?
Question 3: Sources: Youtube vs. Archive.org vs. ??? (movies on archive.org are easier to find, but harder for some to play. Youtube makes it hard to find more popular movies, even if they are older)
Question 4: Are movie posters interesting?
Question 5: Are movie trailers useful?

Post extra comments or details if desired.

I don't know what archive.org is but I'll have a look. Anytime I've tried looking up a movie on YouTube all I get is trailers (clarify: this would be for our grandson not myself). I usually don't watch movies but maybe once a year, and it's a Christian movie. BUT I did actually watch some Christmas movies over the holidays though because they make me happy.
I'm probably not the person to be answering your poll :D

I loved your movie choices and the way you set up the thread, links, trailers, etc., but I can't watch any of them any more since the change to archive.org.

I'm already missing them very much. I'm sure I watched over half of the ones posted before changing away from you tube. Don't stop posting them...maybe some day I'll be able to watch them. No idea how, but I can wish.

Martinhouse, if you stay with Win7, you should try using the firefox browser. It's free and seems to work fine with archive.org hosted movies. Or if you change to Win10, it will come with a new browser that should work fine with Archive.org.

There are still some from youtube being posted, but it's now a mix between archive.org and youtube. Doing the best I can with what I can find.

1911user, thanks for telling me that. I do have Firefox and will try it soon. First I'll have to figure out how to put the new forum on it and log in.

I hate learning how to do new things. I've gotten old enough to just plain old HATE change.

This coming week I have to figure out how to talk to the right person about opting out of getting a smart meter. I've gotten two email already from Entergy that they are "updating" our electric meters and the meter reader confirmed that they will be the smart meters. The poor readers have had to learn this from customers, the company hasn't even had the decency to let them know their jobs will be obsolete sometime in the next several months.

Anyway, thanks again. It will take me a while, but I won't give up yet!

I really appreciate all of the time and effort you put into the creation of the movie threads. Thank you!

I like the movies you have posted. It is good to have recommendations from others here. I have not watched them as my time is very constrained, working in another state and traveling weekly. But I save/download them for when I have time.

In the case of saving them I prefer archive.org because if it is there I can download it. On YouTube even if it is still there sometimes it cannot be downloaded, even on Firefox with all of the apps I have to do it. Some kind of protection that annoys me.

Thank you! And keep up the good work.

On The Level
I've watched a few movies from this thread. And I don't think there's anything wrong with the choices but I'd like to see more. I don't have any suggestions.
Please keep up the good thread(s).

This too shall pass.
Never mind me! I don’t watch movies but once in a blue moon, and then they have to be ‘child-safe,’ because my daughter has extremely good hearing.

I wonder if anyone shares my interest in Italian "Giallo" films?

They are essentially stylish pulp murder mysteries usually featuring a masked, black gloved killer preying on nubile ladies, often of questionable repute.

The authorities are usually a day late and a lire short, the ladies wear and often doff the latest fashions at the drop of a calzone, red herrings abound, everybody smokes two packs a day and the J&B flows like a river.

A dissection of the Italian giallo trend, a genre of horror movies made during the '60s, '70s and '80s.

I appreciate the work you put into it.. I know I should chime in on the threads but I am guilty of clicking and watching.. I get involved in watching a good movie and I do forget to say "thank you".. :rs:

I get involved in watching a good movie and I do forget (everything else) ...
That's a very high complement. There are some movies I have to be careful about checking for some small bit of info... an hour or 2 later the movie is over and I'm still watching it. John Doe Vigilante (previously posted) is the current worst for getting pulled-in.

RB, I'll try to find an Italian "Giallo" film or 2 soon. You provided a sample list to search from, that helps greatly.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I'll try the thumbnail size movie posters this weekend to see how well it works.

Neither here nor there.
If you could choose a movie from any one of the Roku channels that'd be awesome! For some reason I can no longer get YouTube or Prime on my Roku device in the family room.

I haven't yet watched one, but I usually always check the latest thread to see which movies are posted. Some I'm familiar with, and others I'm not, but I end up learning something new. If I get the time, I wouldn't mind viewing one soon.

So keep up the good work! I like the movie threads.

THOROUGHLY enjoy your movie thread (except for one I probably shouldn't have watched:) ). Your variety is good, the choice of either archive.org or youtube is perfect. Downloading off archive.org is easier, I've saved a number of movies off archive.org
Love the movie posters and the trailers as well. It gives us choice to delve into the movie based on what we see in the trailer.

Your movie thread is incredibly popular, and if you want to branch out into different genres that sounds great. Fun is seeing a movie you never considered watching before and enjoying it (as many of your movies have been to me).

I do not watch TV, for real, at all. Thus your movie thread is truly something different and out of the ordinary for me. Unfortunately I only watched half of a movie, due to hughes net stinking. However, I think it's a cool concept, and one you've executed well. Only change i would suggest is you petition for a sticky thread, or an entertainment room so that your hard work might be better archived....:::: Cause our search feature still stinks! :::::

Otherwise, thank you for undertaking this work, and compliments to you on a job well done.

Jward, click the tag at the top that says "movies". It works. All the movie threads from now until last summer show up in the tag search.

On hughes net, if it works like I recall, you should be careful with the amount of data downloaded for watching a movie.
Don't want you to get a big surprise in next months bill.
