Police evacuate all schools in Canadian province, cite potential threat

All schools in the small Canadian province of Prince Edward Island were told to evacuate because of a "potential threat" on Wednesday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a release.

The police said the students were being taken to safe locations. Prince Edward Island, off Canada's Atlantic coast, is the country's smallest province with a population of approximately 146,000.

Police in the nearby province of Nova Scotia also closed some university campuses, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said, adding some of the closures were related to suspicious calls.

"Baby" Trudeau is letting in hundreds of thousands of potential threats. That will still be a big problem for us even if Trump stops the tide coming in from the South and through student visas and refugee programs. God knows how many more Canada agreed to take in during the latest U.N. confab.

More than 19,000 students are being evacuated from all public schools on Prince Edward Island because of what police say is a “potential threat.”

RCMP say staff are taking students at more than 60 English and French schools to safe locations outside the schools, where buses are meeting them.

“School emergency evacuation plans have been activated,” the RCMP said in a statement.

"No threat [has been] located in any of the schools" RCMP spokesman Sergeant Kevin Bailey told reporters in P.E.I.*

"There has been no threat found."

Sgt. Bailey said an anonymous fax from an unknown person was received by police. The fax warned of bombs planted in area schools. Police in turn warned schools across the province, and later searched all schools but found nothing. *

"There hasn't been a suspect identified," he said.

Sgt. Bailey added that the faxed threat was sent initially to the RCMP in Ottawa. It had indicated bombs had been placed in a number of regional schools and would explode today. But the fax was not specific about which schools were targeted.
*
Authorities evacuated and searched schools as a precaution, Sgt. Bailey said, but have found nothing to substantiate any threat.*

School officials in PE.I. say they hope to resume scheduled classes tomorrow.*

RCMP asked parents to wait for further instructions to pick up their children once the facilities are cleared under their safe plan procedures.

The Island’s post-secondary institutions have shut as well.

“The University of Prince Edward Island is closing for the day effective immediately,” it said on Facebook this morning.

At Holland College in Charlottetown, one student said a woman burst into the classroom to tell everyone to pick up their books and evacuate immediately, and that school officials would advise if it’s safe to return tomorrow at a later time.

Outside, everyone was in a panic and helicopters were flying overhead, he said.

Parker Grimmer, director of public schools for the Island’s board, says police contacted the board this morning about “a threat that was of a significant nature” and asked for the evacuation of all schools.

Three schools in Nova Scotia — NSCC Marconi Campus, Cape Breton University and the NSCC technology campus in Halifax — have also been evacuated due to potential threats.

The RCMP RARELY does much out of "an abundance of caution" like folks here do. They had to have SOLID evidence to pull THIS plug.

*Bomb Hoax Prompts Evacuation of all School on Canada's sleepy "Prince Edward Island", after threat is faxed to police

1. More than 19,000 students at more than 60 schools were evacuated Wednesday morning
2. The bomb threat was faxed to Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Ottawa
3. Police later searched the targeted schools and found nothing suspicious
4. Similar anonymous threats were made to schools and colleges in the nearby province of Nova Scotia

More than 19,000 students in the small Canadian province of Prince Edward Island were evacuated this morning because of a bomb threat, which has since proven to be unfounded.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sgt. Kevin Bailey said the threat came via fax Wednesday morning, and that schools on the normally sleepy island were notified within 10 minutes. Officers later searched the schools and found nothing suspicious.

‘There's been no threat found. Everybody is safe,’ Bailey told reporters.

Lot of talk on social media here about parents that aren't letting their kids go to school tomorrow.

If some one could find the thread from years ago regarding the dvd all USA law enforcement agents got regarding Islamic terrorists attacking soft targets such as school, day care centers, senior care homes please put the link here.

As I recall it was a training video detailing how the thugs could attack a soft target and then wait for emergency response to arrive as well as concerned relatives.

Then the secondary attack would happen with an ied/car bomb to kill as many first responders and parents/relatives who would come to the site.

When we had our latest lock down due to a credible threat, it was amazing how many folks came right to the school and then were upset that they were not allowed to wander the campus looking for their children.

The parents became more upset when they saw the huge LEO response with the "evil" black rifles and they became more upset when they tried to call in and got no answer.

A BOLO (emergency recorded phone call went out), but many folks did not get it due to not updating their emergency phone contact information.
