Musbrandy, you put your reply inside the quote.

I'd say it's more than probable arson in Oregon.

Wife's company, Foundation Electric (subsidiary of Bross and Buffalo Construction) built the towers holding the 765 KV line from Seaway to Marcy NY through some REAL interesting rough country. Y'all h'ain't LIVED until you stand at the base of one of THOSE MFrs and listened to the cables and the breeze sing!

For even more fun, plant 4 or 8 foot Fluorescent tubes vertically under those transmission lines. You can either have one end in your hand, or one end planted 6 inches in the dirt underneath. There are pictures of whole fields of them. It just has to be under the lines. Off to the side won't work.

I’ve been worried about this happening for some time, looks like they’re just getting started. I would expect a lot more attacks against ANY infrastructure targets in the near future, especially in areas or locales deemed to be “conservative“.

One of my main worries is them waiting until winter really gets going during a cold snap and taking out the power and not being able to heat your home. I wonder if they have managed to infiltrate any of their goons into any infrastructure jobs where they would gain more knowledge of how to sabotage and better access to sensitive sites.

Is Snohomish County a conservative county? Just asking because it's been said that the fires have been targeting conservative areas.

ETA: Looked at map and seems like this area is near Seattle so probably not a conservative area. Locals please correct me if wrong. I know nothing about that area.

Out here in the sticks, most poles are old and the creosote is pretty much gone.

I don't see many bigger than about 8" at the base.

They are starting to use metal poles as replacements tho.
Those are probably Class 5 poles, especially if they're dried out. Normally these should be around 9"-10" in diameter at the birthmark (about 5' off the ground) as they take a 12" bolt with two 1/2" spacers, a cable clamp and a couple of nuts for a single cable attachment if it's not a corner at attachment height.

A Class 3 pole, at the birthmark, should be between 13" - 14" in diameter and are the standard ELCO pole in use. If it's a hard corner or one with a lot of equipment on it, it could be anything from an Class 1 all the way up to a Class 00, but those are MASSIVE beasts that are closer to 30" in diameter at the birthmark and usually only seen in the 75' and above rating.

Just for reference, most drop poles to a customer's home/business/whatever are Class 7 poles, are usually only around 6" at the birthmark, and are light enough that a single man can carry, set, and frame it by himself if he's of average build.

I can see the commies applying this tactic in areas where there isn't a fire danger.

Most important thing to note here...

:siren: They are now targeting infrastructure. :siren:

This a major turning point.

I just got done saying to watch out for attacks on regional power systems. I was speculating during the winter.

Or go around popping up att manhole covers. Chuck in some gas/diesel and a match and there goes the fiber.
Maybe, maybe not. Depends on the MH and what's in it. If there's dead air, you're not getting a burn no matter what you do. OTOH, if it's a gassy hole, you're likely to send that MH lid into orbit and pop a few on either side of the run.

That's assuming they've got the upper body strength and tools to pop one of those lids. They're NOT light and about half of them are locked, especially in urban areas.

I was running a 20" Echo up in a basket.

A lighter electric saw sure was appealing, right about then,

Not a problem, I've been doing this kind of work for 21 years now (as of 9/13) and the Plant is something that everyone sees but not many think about, much less know the strengths and weaknesses. Time may come when there won't be enough people like me to put things back right, so every little bit I can pass along helps.

A .270, 30.06, even a .357mag or .44mag, close range at a string of substations would put a SOL situation in play for many weeks. Would take 5 seconds and be gone.

They want to cause problems, they could do more long term damage by destroying a substation or two with napalm or rifle with heavy monolith bullets. I would say by using a .50 caliber but they out of the price range of many.
Heck, these communist have the Chinese CCP, the Ruskie CCP and George Soros behind them, I'm thinking that they all get any kind of weapon system and appropriate ammo at cost for their useful minions.

Just like they and the USA funneled all kinds of nasties into all those 3rd world countries for decades, my guess is the communists have been moving the "goods" in from south of the border for a long time. It will be interesting to see if this is their "right time".

Serious question, not debunking. Do those battery operated saws has enough ass to cut through a electric pole? I've never used one and always assumed they were only suited to smallish branches.
Yep I can cut darn near a cord of wood based on an 8-10" diameter logs on one battery! I have a Greenworks 40V 16" bar (upgraded mine with an Oregon bar and chain) it does have a bit of a whine due to the nature of the drive but don't need hearing protection. BUT, I wear a sawyer's helmet with the whole face shield chip screen and chainsaw chaps.

If you catch Antifa/BLM/Anarchist arseholes cutting down power poles or sitting fires....that is only one way to treat them.

This goes back to Bill Ayers play book. They started out dropping power lines and moved on to other commie plots. One of their plots was the training and placement of Obama. Another the corruption of the education system. His head is still not on a pike ShadowMan.
