I am currently having some pizza, which I am able to enjoy without throwing it up for the first time in nearly 20 years. It’s only Domino’s. There are no “artisan” pizza establishments around here. But it’s SOOOOO good to have some!

I understand those “take and bake” pizzas from the deli section are pretty good. You essentially are buying an unbaked pizza at the grocery store and baking it at home. Fresh baked at the price of a frozen one. It might be worth a try. :shr:

Might you have this “right recipe” that you’d like to share?

Fat Head dough is used in many low carb recipes. Google and you’ll find a ton.

Fat Head Pizza
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 3/4 cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons of cream cheese, cubed
  • 1 egg
  • garlic powder, onion powder, and mixed herbs for seasoning *see notes
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Put Mozzarella and cream cheese in a medium bowl
  2. Microwave for 1 min, stir and then another 30 sec, stir
  3. Stir in egg and almond flour until the dough is combined.
  4. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking sheet or pizza pan. Wet hands and spread the dough thin on parchment paper. It should spread evenly with dough-like consistency.
  5. Poke rows of holes with a fork to avoid bubbles.
  6. Put in 425-degree oven
  7. After 8 minutes check the crust and poke holes if there are bubbles.
  8. Add desired pizza toppings.
  9. Continue cooking for a total of 12 to 14 minutes or until slightly brown and golden.

I give up.
There are some really good frozen pizzas made with cauliflower rather than traditional pizza dough. Good for low carb/no bread diets.
Pretty tasty if your diet is limited.

I've seen those around. Oprah was hawking her brand for a while. I might try it just because........... I like cauliflower anyway, if it isn't overcooked.

:)

This is the typical fathead dough pizza crust. I throw a tsp of nutritional yeast flakes in the dough which gives it a more yeasty smell, closer to wheat flour pizza.
I use Hunt's Basil, garlic and oregano tomato sauce also.
Load it up with pepperoni, bacon and hamburger and it takes care of my pizza cravings.
Oh yeah, brush the crust with butter and garlic salt.

Thanks for the recipes and tips everyone—I will definitely be trying them out!

A word of caution about cauliflower crust pizzas. They are not all created equally. The Caulipower brand is not only high in carbs (although gluten free) it tastes like the box it comes in.

Papa Murphy Take and bake.
The best I have found. We do the meat lovers and add green olives, onions, mushrooms, and a touch of garlic.

We had Papa Murphy's tonight.

Large Chicken Alfredo. Has shrooms, spinach leaves, diced chicken, alfredo sauce, white cheese parmesan/romano, I think.

Take and Bake is payable via EBT. A large here is $15 and mrs and I get 3 meals from it. So, $2.50/per for each meal.

EBT acceptance is the main reason take and bake was developed. It's very good pizza, and feeds us under budget.

Glad you're able to enjoy the Domino's this evening, Dennis.

Good to hear! What was the obstacle that kept you from enjoying it for so long?

When I picked up our taco pizza from Pizza Pit tonight I saw take and bake option on the menu. Pizza Pit is a chain. But if they do it maybe an artisan place you like will also do it.

Funny cuz i been craving pizza too. Went to see my old mechanic a few days ago and he kept talking about pizza so when i left i went to 711 store and bought a whole one for $6 on sale. I ate 2 in the car. Now i have a TINY fridge so can't fit it in there. I put the box outside on top of my old car in the yard. Next day i couldn't find as it was buried under a lot of snow., but the pizza was fine. Frozen. Brought it in and put it in the toaster oven and it was yummy. Still got 3 pieces out there. Need to get them and wrap up and put in fridge cuz we are getting 2 ft snow friday. Everyone loves pizza!!

Like many, I have to watch my sodium.

I finely chop leftover, cooked veggies. Set aside.
Brown one or two chopped sausage links. Or crumble up a little leftover hamburger.
Fry a good pita bread in a little olive oil until it's hot all the way through.
Top with the toppings. Cover with a lid for a minute or two -- long enough to reheat the toppings.
Sprinkle a little low sodium cheese or regular cheese (not a lot) over the top.

This could also be made on English muffins, but toast those and then drizzle a little olive oil over the top.

Or cover an English muffin with the toppings and cook it in a toaster over for around 3 minutes.

It's not an A+ pizza, but it's fresh, lower in sodium that commercial pizzas, and economical because it uses
leftovers. If you watch toppings and portion sizes, the calorie count isn't bad.

DW and I hadn't had a pizza in probably a couple of years or so. We like it well enough, but it's just not something we even think about.

Last week while running errands, I passed the local Domino's and something just clicked. I brought home a surprise, large meat and mushroom pizza for dinner and instantly achieved superhero status for the evening :-)
