I am leaving the great state of Texas after 46 years.

As you all know I have a baby sister with terminal cancer and the prognosis is not good. I am moving on to spend whatever time she has left. Still looking for God's miracle.

I am also leaving Dodge for the obvious reasons.

Something huge is coming soon to this country and I do not want to be living in a city when it happens.

I'll probably be off for a while with the move and resettling. But I will check in occasionally.

May God bless you all and stay safe.

Understandable that you would want out of a city, but Texas would seem to be a good place to be. Sorry that you need to move in a hurry but family is that important. Prayers for her and that you may find a place that is relatively "safe", if such still exists.

I always thought that Texas would be the last great bastion. But no more. We've brought in so many blue voters from other states that I'll be surprised if we ever vote Republican again. The illegals walking over the border have decided to settle for the most part here. They're driving on the roads without insurance or drivers licenses and delivering for Uber and Instacart and DoorDash. Not a lick of English among them.

My insurance monthly for my car and house in Dallas was $403, at my new location it will be $80 a month. Dallas has gotten way too expensive for the average Joe. Or Jolene.

Prayers for you. And a little thread drift.
No, I couldn’t post that here. Dolly spoofed her own song, as did others. Find them if you wish. In the light of this thread, I’m just disgusted.

ETA. So sorry for the confusion. Was going to drift into dolly’s song, but it’s no longer as entertaining s it was three years ago.

We left Texas in 2021. We felt the bite of the rising costs on everything. Where we are now, all of our utilities and insurances would be the cost of electric alone in Texas.

I know, but she will not. She ended up getting the booster in the fall against my wishes. She has turbo cancer and nothing will stop that. It's in her brain, her lungs, her liver, her kidney, and her thyroid at this point. There is nothing I can do. It's all in God's hands.
Yes. You’re right.
You’ve done what you can and I wish you luck with your move.
I’m so sorry

It's a shame that the Republic of Texas isn't what it used to be.

Sixth generation Texan. I have a brother still here who will turn the lights off when he leaves.
I'm about 5th generation Tennessean. Ancestors were Virginians from early 1700s, 4th great-grandfather moved VA to Huntsville AL then to TN about 1829. My dad's great-grandfather moved to TN in 1874. All settled in west TN in lands around Tipton Co, lands ceded by the Chickasaw.

Tennessee has a lot of history with Texas. Both states still have much of that independent fighting spirit, but the blue cities suck.

My father had sister who lived right outside of Nashville. She had a farm with all kinds of animals including peacocks! Every Sunday at lunch she would prepare the most magnificent meal you could have ever imagined. It was my mother's people who arrived in Texas in the 1600 as farriers settling in Germantown and Fredericksburg.
