Misc On the ground reports - what are you seeing and hearing from people around you?

I think on the ground reports of what we are seeing and hearing from family and friends from around the country would be really helpful. What I saw and heard in the last few days was stunning. And not good.

I talked to three different people that are like family to me. One is a fiscal conservative but socially liberal. She let slip that she's voting Harris. I'm not too surprised. PNW

What floored me is the other two, a couple, who say they are stanchly republican. He's a veteran in the reserves. They let it slip that they are voting Harris. They have TDS. When I asked about Watz, and his desertion of his troops when they were going to war, I got no answer. I told them I wish they would vote with their brains and not their hearts. They said everyone they know is voting Harris. SW

I was visiting a very red county yesterday in a very blue state. Two Trump flags and three harris signs. PNW

I am terrified for our country. I think between TDS, brain dead democrats and cheating, that the election will show that our country will have voted in our demise. I'm looking for a quiet place where I can have a survival garden, some wild space in the area including wildlife, people with my values surrounding me, and live out the remaining years of my life. Any ideas would be appreciated. For some reason, I think my "social score" is going to be rock bottom so I want to be able to survive the best I can outside of the system.

What are you hearing and seeing out there?

I know I am where God wants me. Very red state but metro Anchorage and a few of our Bush communities are tainting it purple :( We are prepared here, youngest sister is currently moving up to join another sister up in North Pole. My small town and surrounding area solid, stolid for Trump. Dear Step-mom on Kodiak in great shape and we will help keep her that way. God be with us.

Well, I'm in the woods of north central Louisiana, surrounded by a bunch of rednecks with guns, all the ones I know are Trumps supporters. But I heard recently of a young woman who runs a nature preserve that voted for biden and is for cameltoe because she's a woman. And I would imagine there are some others who are died in the wool democraps. I never associate with any of them.

God be with us, indeed!

Neither here nor there.
I'm seeing more MAGA and Trump signs, especially since Kennedy signed onto Trumps team! Here locally, central Iowa, we have a lot of health nuts and the whole make America Healthy Again has gotten their attention and big time. There's also a huge community of people here that are on the spectrum, and many suspect that the autism, etc., was caused by vaccines, poor quality food, etc.

Don't give up hope, God is greater than all of us and He has a Plan! Pray that He does indeed find righteous men in the land and doesn't pass judgement on us anytime soon.

Lot's of trump support here in the reddest of red states. I noticed a little storefront downtown with trump signs and stuff, I guess it is the republican headquarters for the county.

Haven't seen one single sign for her-ass. In years past, I have seen obummer, clinton, biden signs; nothing this year for the dems.

I'm starting to see more Trump signs, as well. I'm in Trump country (south of Packy in Iowa), but a lot of people are gray, as I am because we don't want trouble from strangers.

And it isn't necessarily that a lot of folks here like Trump -- some think he's a major ass -- but will vote for him because of his policies and the need to stop the creeping communism.

Pinecone, this really isn't a good time to move anywhere, in my opinion, unless you are moving away from a truly dangerous situation (too close to Chicago, for example) -OR- you are moving to be closer to tribe. A lot of places are in the process of changing, and you could waste a lot of money and time on a move, only to find out that you went from the frying pan into the fire.

Rural Florida you still see a lot of FJB signs ... all spelled out. ;) There have been Trump 2024 signs since 2020. And even in the metro areas I haven't seen any support of Biden, Harris, or Walz. The black people I feel comfortable asking such personal questions of don't consider Kamala black. I don't ask people who they are voting for because you can't trust most people to give you are solid answer. They'll either say they haven't made up their minds yet or will tell you what they think you want to hear.

I did notice a difference this year for early voting. Lots of signs, few people out representing those signs. In the past there was always people out there waving and such but not this year. :shr:

In years passed I would get a ton of political calls from both sides. Not this year. I did get a bunch of texts from "Kamala" and her reps during the DNC begging for money but no calls. And nothing since the DNC.

I think that a lot of black men - those that bother to vote - will vote for Trump. I think a lot of black women may just stay home but I can't say that is true of all areas.

Even though November is growing closer, there is still time for Kamala/Walz to screw up and lose the fence sitters who may opt out rather than vote for the other side. There is still two months to go.

I agree. I'm waiting until the election plays out. I'm in a deep blue state, but in the country. There are worse places to be right now. Thanks for your input.

Here in west/central Arizona almost everyone in our county, Mohave, is a rabid Trump supporter. In our rural neighborhood, almost everyone flies an American flag and a Trump flag. The neighbors across from us fly a flag, he is a Dr. raised on a cattle ranch in Texas, total Trump supporter. His wife is a nurse, a sweet, kind person who supports Harris because Trump is mean.

Went to the $ tree a couple of days ago and a lady engaged me in conversation about an item I was purchasing.

The conversation then moved to how strange everything is lately. I replied that it was going to get stranger.

Then I mentioned that we're going to be seeing things that will show where we are in the stream of time according to the Book of Revelation.

She agreed and so did the Cashier. I mentioned that having an alternative way to heat the house would be a good idea. The customer replied that they had that covered. The implication I got was that household knows what's coming and are prepared for it.

The pushy, entitled melatonin customer behind her most likely doesn't have a clue and isn't really interested...you know , the gubbermint will take care of us. I noticed she had two little ones and an adult male in her entourage.

All-in-all, it was an interesting interaction.

Outside of the metropolitan areas, Indiana is solidly red. I've seen a few Trump yard signs, t-shirts, flags etc. but no Harris signage at all. Early on I saw some Biden bumper stickers, but none for Harris. None of my neighbors and acquaintances discuss politics or the current state of things, we've all learned to keep our mouths shut. Nearly everyone in my immediate AO flies the American flag, though.

I parked a Trump sign at the end of my driveway several weeks ago really not expecting it to last more than a couple days at best, I live 3/10s of a mile from the end of my drive through the woods and can't see it, so I expected it to get removed by a hater. So far, it's still there, my area is mostly Red with the usual mix of died in the wool democrats. I guess they are feeling the pinch as much as we are. The folks that I do know that are on the left have no signs up this year at all.

I don't ask. Outstate Minnesota is Trump country, and that's where I am.

Was tickled to see that latest KSTP poll out of Minnesota (of course over-represented by Democrat likely voters) showed Harris losing two points here since she picked Walz for VP. :lkick:
