GOV/MIL Ohio congressman introduces bill to repeal 16th Amendment, arguing government shouldn't tax income

Congressman Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, introduced legislation to repeal the 16th Amendment, stating that the government should not tax people's income.

"Originally the country didn't have an income tax," Davidson said on the Wednesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "They passed the 16th amendment to make it legal to tax people's income. It was originally just going to be for the really, really rich people. And of course, now it's hitting everybody."

Davidson introduced H.J. Resolution 47 last year but the House has not yet voted on it. The Ohio congressman said he hopes to get a recorded vote on it.

Other House members behind this legislation include Reps. Mary Miller, R-Ill., and Ronny Jackson, R-Texas.

The legislation was referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

"Even if you don't have a lot of income, you still have to file so the government spies on everything," Davidson said. "Like, did somebody pay you? Did you pay somebody? Did you buy or sell something? Did you make or lose money? Did you give a gift or receive a gift? Was the gift too generous? Like, get out of my life and get a warrant if you need to know all this stuff."

He’s right. There are two types of taxes that are constitutionally acceptable:
Direct tax and Excise tax.
Income taxes are clearly unconstitutional.
Some of you may be familiar with gold-bug, Peter Schiff. His father, Irwin, argued the above for years. Unsuccessfully.
Maybe we'll do better this time.

Even when I was a dumb teenager and got my first above the table job.

I knew penalizing people by taxing their life blood labors is wrong!

We need to bring back a form of indentured servitude, to replace safety net's.

Reward the producers, and our economy will bounce back. Penalizing independent individuals for hiring people is a double income tax as well.

Employers pay to collect fica taxes and payroll insurance mandates. And other liabilities like frivolous lawsuits that get settled out of courts. It's disgusting how we treat our private sector employers and their working poor employees.

The government does not tax income.

They do, however, sit idly by and watch as people unwittingly, and often very early in their lives, contract with the foreign-based Internal Revenue Service, oft-times tossing out a tidbit of nonsense such as your good congressman, above, for the purpose of further hoodwinking while simultaneously gaining a few votes.

Just make a flat 10% consumption tax........get rid of the IRS/state taxes and social security (you invest it) and keep your full paycheck.
How about the federal government does not impose any tax (income or "VAT") on the people?

How about the states pay a percentage based on their representation in Congress to fund only the constitutional duties delegated by the people and states to the feds, and nothing more?

To bad no one else thought of that. Oh wait, they did....

That's way too logical & simple so, by default, it won't work....well more accurately, the bureaucratic horde which really runs almost all "free" countries" will see to it's failure.

A free society needs a prudent population as well.............the state has been working on eliminating that prudency among the populous.........its much easier to control them that way.

That along with breads and circuses like video gaming/sports and gambling on all of it.

During the Civil War, Lincoln introduced a war bond that would give people the ability to voluntarily contribute financially to the war effort. That bond number is 1099 and is still used today, especially to keep the war machine going. War has not stopped since 1860.

The USD is now backed by nothing other than the threat of violence.
The USD is created from air and with no limit.
These are facts.
I still haven't heard a decent argument for ANY kind of tax with the above being true.
We have been and continue to be f*ucked so hard by our own government but the shit has been in place so long and normalized and propagandized so well that most just enjoy the Stockholm Syndrome from which they suffer.
Pretty much every member of congress, all the Supreme Court Justices, all the Intelligence agency heads, etc. are guilty of treason.

Abolishing the graduated tax (as T.R. called it) would be a huge blow to Theodore Roosevelt's progressive legacy, and its long overdue.

God has a plan, Trust it!
My opinion

A tax on all things purchased - cars, food, fuel, medicine, appliances, chachkies, ...everything. This makes it so that all those MILLIONS of people that just came over the border don't escape the expense of having to provide for them in resources and infrastructure.

A tariff on all transactions like Western Union. Tax money being sent out of our economy to bolster another. Make it difficult to move that money out of the US.

If they go back and look at the history (1913) of how the 16th amendment came to be it's really unconstitutional as it was never ratified by the states, but so it was said, so it was written, so it was done and thats how we come to have the 16th amendment that and the 17th amendment.

You could even back up a few amendments if you consider that the Union didn't recognize the rebellious states as being separate nations, and passed amendments 13, 14th without their vote, who were according to the norths reasoning still a part of the Union.

In a nutshell the government could never tax us and meet their budget especially with the wars they conduct and/or the natural resources they covet to keep our economic consumption engine going .....

..in fact if they did tax us to rid of all of their debt spending we'd all be broke and revolt against the goverment tomorrow.

..........however, they can avoid that and continue to spend all they want to get what they need to fight wars they want without causing their citizens to revolt because they borrow the cash for empire expanding and military conflicts from the Federal Reserve who just prints the money which inflates the supply of it in circulation which decreases the buying power of the dollar to all US consumers.............and the only way they can control the inflation of the US dollar is to force it down the throat of the rest of the world by requiring oil trade exchange in only US dollars which absorbs the supply of our dollars which would otherwise end up in hyperinflation here in the US.

So the US debt is never an issue until the rest of the world decides to stop trading oil in dollars and when that happens we go to war to prevent that............

And there is your catch 22 consumption economy US empire whether you want one or not.............

No! There are only direct taxes apportioned, excise, impostes and duties. The supreme Court rules in 1895 that wages and salaries are not income and not liable nor subject to "the tax" on the 1892 Debt which Congress defaulted.

26 USC has no statutory taxes on wages nor withholding taxes enacted by Conress.

meezy

I think I can...
It's structured so nobody can get ahead without complicated loopholes. Make more money, pay twice as much tax. Work 40 hours and pay the same dollar amount to the IRS you'd pay if you worked 20. See my Corkboard post whining about it.

You are correct. Income and wages are just word smithing. Income tax is voluntary. A W9 means you sign on the line volunteering to accept the income you receive as taxable. It’s all part of the citizenship scheme that provides no real value other than a false pride in your country.

To be fair, ALL governments are based upon Force/Violence. It has ever been so.
True, this is just another protection racket.

Don't pay protection , you will be met with violence and perhaps kidnapping and held against your will.

Don't fall for the income tax and the same thing will happen.

It will never happen. Congress will never cede their source of power, which is penalizing certain behaviors and rewarding others, using taxation as the stick.

Warren Davidson is just as stupid as AOC. He's only grandstanding in time for April 15th and trying to get in the spotlight for re-election. Someone needs to throat-punch the guy just for his gratuitous, patronizing stupidity. They all need it.

The list of abuses is very very long...and very very significant. Verily I say unto you....all. It would be nice to get the Republic back, version 2.0...the kind built from past mistakes and lies being dealt with so as to create a more free life for one and all. Stuff like that. Or go the expedited route after the tribulation stuff. Maybe the thousand year reign will ..never mind.
