These are a dolled up version of "Easyboots". Easyboots have been around for at least 30 years - slip-on and crank down version of a hoof boot to take the place of a missing shoe/protect an injury, etc.
I looked at getting one for the front and one for the back at one time for my Standardbred driving horse, (spare tires!) because on long camping trips/long weekends, he'd wear his shoes down so paper thin that the nailheads would wear off and he'd lose shoes. Thought maybe the Easyboot would make a good emergency substitute..but after talking to people who tried them, they had very limited use. Even when properly sized, apparently don't stay on worth a darn.
