Odds on Kanye West becoming president after he announced he was running in a tweet have been slashed from 500/1 to 50/1.

The rapper made the announcement on Saturday night, tweeting, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION.”

This prompted a big move in the UK betting markets, with Casino.org reporting, “The consensus on West becoming the 46th president of the United States was slashed from 500/1 to 50/1 on his tweet. The reduction alters his odds from 0.2 percent to 1.96 percent.”

Oddschecker also reports that since his tweet, 61 per cent of all wagers on the presidential race have been placed on Kanye, while 25 per cent have gone for Trump in the belief that Kanye running would take votes away from Joe Biden.

While numerous leftists reacted to Kanye’s announcement by expressing anxiety that his involvement in the race, which would likely be as an independent candidate, would take votes away from Biden, the opposite might actually be the case.

A YouGov/Huffington Post poll of 1,000 US adults taken in April 2018, after Kanye started praising Trump, found that just 9% of black Americans and 13% of Democrats said they had a favorable opinion of the rapper, compared to 20% of whites and 34% of Republicans.

A CNN poll conducted the following month found that Democrats had a 12% favorable to 67% unfavorable opinion of Kanye, while Republicans were evenly split, 35% to 35%.

So while 25% of black Americans said they would consider voting for Kanye when asked in September 2015, that sentiment has flipped significantly.

Although Kanye walked back his praise of Trump more recently, he is still loathed by many on the left

Yeah, well, polls also believe that it's a dead lock for Joe Biden anyway, so pardon my skepticism that the barely-sane Kardashian-West can manage to do that much damage.

What an insane article, no Trump supporter is going to switch from the President to vote for that moron, only stupid, uneducated non-taxpaying gullible young whites are gonna vote for that idiot, they would have voted for Biden in the first place.

Opinions shouldn't be published as factual news, the Media is horrible, horrible media, very bad reporting, FAKE NEWS!

No, you have that entirely wrong. These days presidential elections are decided by about 4-5% of "independent" voters. That includes the black vote. If he siphons enough blacks away, Trump will lose.

Dennis, most of the black trump supporters appear to be some of his most ardent supporters, probably from the abuse they take. It would be shocking to think they would switch from the President to vote for some dude that looks like a chipmunk.

But in that segment of society, it appears that race and the tribe always end up as the driving force in a lot of decisions. I hope your wrong and lots of the pollsters say Trump's support with black males is up beyond the 13% he had in 2016 but at this point, nothing would be shocking based on past experiences.

That's kind of the thing, though. Kanye will pull black voters. Won't Biden have WAY more black voters than Trump? Trump's black presence has been growing but even now it's a sideshow. For Biden it's the main event, I'd think.

Kanye is not a good man for doing something like this at a time like this. It makes me wonder where is true loyalties are.

I saw where he was running 2024, not 2020. Seems strange he would run in 2020 unless he was giving black people a different option than Biden.

He is black.
For me, at this point in history, after all that has recently happened...that says it all.
No trust here, whatsoever.

Blacks are 13% of the population.....between the jailbirds, felons and lack of interest in voting they are meaningless.........the vote you need to get are the non-White Hispanic ones........who are mostly Indian feathers......that's where the growth is.

We KNOW from previous experience that Blacks will overwhelmingly vote for their tribe.
Whether the leftist elite Whites like it or not Kanye > Biden in most Black eyes.

The small amount of pull away from PDJT should be less than what he pulls from Biden.
By spliting the vote, Kanye MAY ensure the reelection.

It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see how it plays out for them......

I think you all are missing the simplest explanation.

Kanye has been around President Trump, and has seen him in action. As most people from his tribe have far more confidence than ability, Kanye now believes that he, too, is capable of being president.

Additionally, as most people from his tribe believe, they simply do not have to bother themselves with working their way up the ladder. They can simply start at the top (refer to the previous paragraph). He didn't need to engage in the debate process.

Finally, as most people from is tribe, he is not good with math, or thinking ahead regarding the consequences of his actions.

He simply believes that his personality will be enough to elect him and that he wants to be president.

The man can't even manage his career and life, how is he going to manage a country. The rest of the world is not like the world of Kardashian.

One step closer to IDIOCRACY (the movie---about which the producer once remarked, "I thought I was creating a comedy, not a documentary.")

So why is everyone bowing down to the damn 13%?! The black militia were marching within 30 miles of my home!
