Ludacris Pro Obama Rap Song Stirs Controversy
Another Scary Obama Friend?

By Mark Whittington, published Jul 30, 2008

It looks like Barack Obama has another scary friend. In this case it is the rap star Ludacris who has just released a pro Barack Obama song called Hillary Clinton a b****, suggests that John McCain be paralyzed, and calls President Bush "mentally handicapped."

Ludacris, no stranger to controversy, has claimed that he is Barack Obama's favorite rapper. Barack Obama has admitted knowing Ludacris. Indeed. Barack Obama has met with Ludacris at least once to talk about young people and how to empower them shortly after the 2006 midterm elections. They also discussed the AIDS issue.

Ludacris is just the latest person in Barack Obama's orbit who has proven to be an embarrassment to the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee. Others include the fiery preacher at Obama's former church, Jeremiah Wright, former Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers, and convicted felon Tony Rezko.

The lyrics of Ludacris's new song are, mildly putting it, provocative and could be said to be even arrogant:

"Said I handled his biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers

Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer

Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president"

For those looking for a creative running mate, an Obama/Ludacris ticket would be just the thing. However one suspects that the Obama people do not have Ludacris on their short list. Or their long list for that matter.

Ludacris, who was born Christopher Bridges, is a three time Grammy winner and a well know rap star and actor. Ludacris's music is infamous for its sexually explicit content and its glorification of violence. Because of that, Ludacris has had disputes with critics of his music ranging from Bill O'Reilly to Oprah Winfrey.

What will Barack Obama do about this latest dust up? If the Ludacris controversy follows the pattern of part Barack Obama scandals concerning friends of the candidate, it will fester for a few days and then Barack Obama will throw Ludacris under the bus, Barack Obama will deny ever knowing Ludacris and then, when it's pointed out that yes he indeed does know him, Barack Obama will say something like, "Well, this is clearly not the Ludacris I thought I knew."

There is an old saying that one is known by the company one keeps. One wonders how many scary friends like Ludacris it will take for people to draw conclusions about Barack Obama and the company he keeps.
