okay..so I'm about town today and stop in the Super Kosher store. I found these cool self-heating MRE's . The box looks like it's a good size portion. The cost here in the store was $8.50 but I see it's less on line. Some of them come accompanied by a soup and snack too!

Looks interesting, I wonder what the shelf life is on them. I will have to poke around that site more. Thanks for the link.

from the site:
24-month, refrigerator- and freezer-free shelf life
Fairly inexpensive, and looks tasty too!
The closest retail store to me is 144 miles
I may just drop a note in the suggestion box at my local grocery.
These may just be good, hot lunches when I'm away from home.

seems about avareage for the price when I was buying a couple of years ago $7-8 a pack.

Heater Meals are available here at $50 for 10:

I have never bought from them, but that is a significantly lower price. Now this differs from some that were offered online here as a group buy in that there are not the same number of calories and there is not the selection of junk foods (cookies/crackers, etc.) to go with it. You can supplement that end yourself.

They look pretty good, but I checked the sodium content on the Turkey and the Beef stew and they seemed off the chart. Some of the others didn't seem too bad. Have a couple of stores about 25 miles away. I may have to check out a couple of those bad boys.
