Sure. And the State of Florida is going to hold Disney accountable for sticking their damn nose where it doesn't belong. Oh, that's right. De Santis is now in talks with Disney/Iger for getting their tax breaks back.

Sorry folks. The old adage of believe none of what you hear and only about half of what you see is alive and well in today's world.

The first movie is I am Legend. This 2007 adventure film stars Will Smith. It is the third movie based on the 1954 book I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. The first movie was The Last Man on Earth (1964 with Vincent Price). The second movie was The Omega Man (1974 with Charlton Heston).

Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a scientist who was unable to stop the spread of the terrible virus that was incurable and man-made in this post-apocalyptic action thriller. Immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and perhaps the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague - the Infected - lurk in the shadows - watching Neville's every move - waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered - and quickly running out of time.

My friend Doc could have designed an aerosol study and gotten the results a lot quicker and easier...and without human error. If they needed a "study".

If not he would have just told them the n95 and surgical masks don't work.

He's an aerosol expert.

I am curious. "How can one have been on this forum since 2020 and not know this?"
Why be an ass..l he said nothing of the sort! He posted a new, decently designed study showing what we surmised (based on virus vs mesh sizes)all along.

But this is one more chunk in the armor of these nutcase. Gets hard to defend all the cases in court when there's so much published science against you?

It is worth reading the actual study. I don't think the summary gets the intent of the study nor does it address the overall efficacy of masks.

Interesting.
I don’t believe they’re 100% but being around this latest flu hitting here so bad, I’m still not going into a “cough cootie” zone without one.

I hate them, by the way. I never was overly careful with wearing one until last year.

Our medical facilities were the last holdouts for mask wearing mandates. Now, they've all dropped the mandates. You would think with all the flu going around, they would still mandate them. So, what's the difference in the flu and Covid? Mandates for one, but not the other?

We have no intention of going back to wearing masks.

Our radio has been reporting hospitals are back to mandatory masks and no visitors allowed due to how bad this flu is going around.
I didn’t even hear Covid mentioned; it’s strictly the flu on the radio spot,

My practitioner office at St Vincent hospital never DID drop mask requirements and as well as the hospital itself.

I don't know of any place, including medical facilities in my area where masks are required now. I just thought it strange that with all the flu going around everyone would be bringing back the mask mandates, but they're not. Isn't flu a virus, and can be just as deadly and contagious as Covid? It's all strange.

The only few people that I see wearing masks these days are GTR, and no one else, at least in my area. Other areas I'm sure are different.

Give it about 3-4 weeks. Everyone travelling and getting together for Christmas and you will see the first big flare of influenza. Then again second week in January when school is back from break.

And no, the flu isn't as contagious as COVID and there are pretty good treatments for it. Not so much for Covid. I'd say older folks and those more at risk would be better served to masked for influenza even if you don't think it does anything for COVID.

So, do masks protect one from the flu? I'm asking, because I really don't know. A virus is a virus to me. Some more dangerous than others. I don't understand why a mask is good for the flu, but not for Covid.

Yes. Influenza is spread in droplets and not aerosolized mist. Surgical masks are fine, even cloth masks would help. Pair that up with frequent hand washing and its about the best protection out there. And elderberry for prophylaxis is good and at least as effective as tamiflu.

Masks actually hurt resistance, not help. One as most folks don't adhere to sterile fields during the usage period. Two as the particles are so fin they are akin to a chain link fence expected to keep the mosquitos out...

One issue to consider with N95 however is the electrostatically charged layer which does tend to attract more of the smaller particles. It's not just about physical filtration.

Our experience. We wore masks and followed strict protocol during the height of Covid. No vax. We didn't get Covid (Omicron), until after we stopped wearing masks and relaxed our protocols. We have never worn a mask, ever, to prevent the flu. We haven't had the flu in over 20 yrs.

Sat and Vessie, do you know WHY they required the regular mask over the N95? That doesn’t make sense.

Its because they don't know the history of your mask. If is new and clean or have you been wearing it for 2 years. Mosy doctors offices and hospital here required their mask but you could put it over your own mask.
